Yeovil Town Women manager Dave Court

Yeovil Town Women manager Dave Court has spoken about the ambition to strengthen the club’s women’s programme following their title success.

The Glovers became South West Regional Division One South Champions at the weekend – their second league title in three seasons.

Yeovil competed in the Women’s Super League – the top flight of women’s football – as recently as 2019, but a merger with Bridgewater Town left the club without a women’s team until a relaunch in January 2023.

“We’re trying to develop a programme that young girls want to come and be part of,” Court said.

“What Yeovil Town Women have achieved in the past is incredible and we’ve taken a small step. I’d just like it to be an inspiration to the girls of the future.

“Yeovil is a big name and it deserves a good women’s set-up, and we’ll do everything we can to continue that in the future.”

Court, who holds a UEFA A Licence, was appointed ahead of the 2025/26 campaign following the departure of Paul Knight, who had led the team to promotion in 2024.

“In pre-season I spoke to a couple of ex-players, and I think it was really important for me coming in to get a feel for what had gone before.

“I was very aware that we had to do the right thing by those people as well, and hopefully they’ll be proud of us.”

The title was sealed after a winner-takes-all clash with second-placed Weston-super-Mare, with a point from a 1–1 draw enough to seal the title.

“I’m so proud of the girls, first and foremost for the shift they’ve put in, and to be honest it’s been the same since that first training session in July.

“This title was won on nights when it was pouring with rain and windy, and the players still turned up and trained. The real hard work has gone on when nobody’s been watching.”

Yeovil Town Women became league Champions after drawing 1-1 with second-placed Weston-super-Mare in a winner-takes-all clash at the Optima Stadium.

The Glovers took the lead on the stroke of half time through Orla East, and despite the hosts equalising from the penalty spot, a point was enough to secure the South West Regional Division One South title.

It was Yeovil who looked dangerous early on as Chloe Perham fired an early warning shot, but her half-volley didn’t trouble goalkeeper Jayde Holcombe.

Two corners from Becky Miles caused trouble for the Seagulls defence. First, Perham saw a low effort blocked when the delivery fell to her, and then Keira Ealson-Taylor saw her header drop just wide after she rose highest in the middle.

Our Somerset rivals created a golden opportunity to take the lead when Vika Khandusenko got the wrong side of the defence, but Emily Hall stood tall to make a heroic block.

And in first half added time, East’s delightful Lobbie Savage after a pinpoint diagonal ball from the right wrong-footed goalkeeper and put Yeovil well and truly in the driving seat.

Weston’s equaliser came less than ten minutes after the restart though, after a handball in the box gave Khandusenko the chance from the spot. Hall was a whisker away from getting to the effort, but there was too much power on the strike.

Dave Court’s side stayed resolute as game management kicked in, and in fairness Yeovil probably came closer to finding a second goal.

Sophie Skilton’s angled shot didn’t go too far over the bar after good work from East, and a hanging effort from Jodi Cornwall had the goalkeeper relieved when the ball landed on the roof of the net.

Perhaps the impending celebrations got Cornwall a little too fired up, as she was shown a straight red in the dying embers of the game for a heavy challenge.

But that didn’t take the shine off a memorable day for Glovers, with the full time whistle sparking wild celebrations and some well-earned champagne.

Congratulations to everyone at Yeovil Town Women! Champions again olé olé… 🏆

Chloe Perham

Yeovil Town Women increased their lead at the top of the South West Regional Division One South table with a 4-1 win away at Feniton.

The Glovers took the lead inside ten minutes with a classic route one goal. Emily Hall launched a free-kick up the pitch and Jodi Cornwall expertly lobbed the Feniton keeper.

And there was almost a copy and paste moment before the break with Cornwall again running through, but this time the lob trickled just wide of the post.

The striker turned provider when Yeovil doubled the advantage in the second half, sliding a ball across to Laura Cheeseman who kept her cool to finish in the middle.

The third goal arrived on 69 minutes when Cheeseman found Chloe Perham, who in turn found time and space to fire home. The duo combined again as Cheeseman unselfishly squared to Perham to tap home a fourth.

Although Feniton pulled one back with ten minutes left – with a strike that was either a mishit cross or an absolute worldie – it did nothing to impact the result, with three points heading back to Somerset.

Attention now turns to a huge clash against second-placed Weston-super-Mare on Sunday 3rd May. While Yeovil currently hold a seven-point advantage, their title rivals have two games in hand, meaning a tasty encounter will be in store at the Optima Stadium.

Speaking post-match, coach Simon Linard said: “A really good performance from the girls, a really good squad performance. We came with a very clear game plan which we executed really well.

“We’ve got a really good squad here and we train well together as a squad, so the players that come in know their roles.”

And goalscorer Chloe Perham added: “I don’t think I’ve ever been on the scoresheet! I’m buzzing with that to be fair. I haven’t played in ages (because of) work commitments, but I’m buzzing.”

“A win today was very important and it sends a message to Weston to say the pressure is on. I think we are feeling the pressure but we train hard for it and I think the win today will push us forward to the Weston game.”

Yeovil Town Women returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory away at Appledore in the league.

The Glovers dominated from the start, with Jodi Cornwall’s delivery from the right skimming the crossbar and Lily McNally’s header from a corner going just wide.

It was Cornwall who broke the deadlock with just 12 minutes on the clock, as she raced through on goal and coolly slotted home.

The lead was doubled on the half-hour mark when the ball fell to Becky Miles on the edge of the box, and she fired low into the bottom corner.

There were chances for Dave Court’s side to increase their lead after the break, but Laura Wensley’s header was off target and Keira Ealson-Taylor couldn’t quite convert from McNally’s ball across.

The third goal did arrive with a minute left when McNally got on the end of a defence-splitting pass and curled past the ‘keeper.

The three points keep Yeovil top of the South West Regional Football League, with their next scheduled game currently the trip to Feniton on Sunday 19th April.

Yeovil Town Women failed to reach the final of this season’s Somerset County Cup, losing 5-2 away at Keynsham.

The Glovers drew first blood at the AJN Stadium when Lily McNally latched onto a ball over the top from Jodi Cornwall, expertly lobbing the keeper.

But the hosts equalised less than ten minutes later. Emily Hall made a good save initially, but Ciera Lundy tapped home the rebound.

Dave Court’s side regained the advantage when Cornwall rose highest in the box to head home from a corner with five minutes left of the half.

There was still time for the K’s to go into the break ahead. There wasn’t much Hall could do about Mia Mugford’s sublime finish or Abigail Todd’s stunning curling effort, as the hosts snatched the lead for the first time.

Mugford completed her hat-trick in the second half – first volleying from the edge of the box, before finding the net again late on with an angled drive that flew past Hall.

Yeovil’s next match is currently scheduled to take place on Sunday 29th March, when they travel to Appledore in the South West Regional Football League (2pm kick-off).

Yeovil Town Women booked their place in the Supplementary Cup Final with a comfortable 5–0 victory over Wells City on Sunday.

The tie was as one-sided as they come, with Jodi Cornwall setting the tone by forcing two chances inside the opening ten minutes. Her first effort from a corner was blocked, and she saw another attempt saved shortly afterwards.

The breakthrough arrived on 20 minutes thanks to a superb free-kick from Becky Miles. After Jess Hodge was fouled right on the edge of the box, the midfielder stepped up to curl an excellent effort into the top corner.

Cornwall doubled Yeovil’s advantage just six minutes later, turning sharply before firing home after latching onto Gypsy Sutcliffe’s ball forward.

As half-time approached, the Glovers added two more goals to put the game beyond their Somerset rivals. Lily McNally produced a lovely lob over the goalkeeper to make it three, and the striker applied the finish when Chloe Davenport crossed for Yeovil’s fourth.

Not everything went Yeovil’s way, with Wells awarded a second-half penalty following a collision in the box. However, goalkeeper Emily Hall rose to the occasion to keep the spot-kick out.

Normal service resumed on 71 minutes as Cornwall doubled her personal tally to make it five, and only the offside flag denied Davenport from making it six.

The result comfortably sends Dave Court’s side through to the Final and they’ll hope to repeat the feat when they travel to Keynsham Town on Sunday 15th March for the Semi-Final of the Senior Cup.

Speaking after the match, Hall said: “The goals we scored came from team football. At times the game felt comfortable, but we still had to work hard.

“There’s a really positive vibe within the team, coaches included. We’ve got a tough few games coming up, but the girls are really up for it and we’re going to give it our best shot.”

Yeovil Town Women came out on the wrong side of a five-goal thriller on Sunday, as they were beaten 3-2 by Weston-super-Mare in the Divisional Cup.

The Glovers took the lead twice during the tie but were pegged back on both occasions, and a 69th-minute goal from our Somerset rivals proved decisive on the Huish Park 3G.

We made the better start, with Becky Miles’ free-kick giving goalkeeper Jayde Holcombe an early test. It was Jess Hodge who broke the deadlock on 25 minutes, converting in the box after an inviting ball in.

Weston responded and came close when Ellie Orritt arrived at the near post, with Emily Hall in the Yeovil goal turning the shot wide. However, there was nothing Hall could do when Vika Khandusenko headed home an equaliser five minutes before the break.

It took just two minutes of the second half for the lead to be restored, with Jodi Cornwall tapping home when Keira Ealson-Taylor supplied the cross.

But straight from the restart, Ellie Burrows slotted past Hall, and Orritt got her name on the scoresheet with a header to turn the game around.

Cornwall almost doubled her personal tally, with Holcombe producing a magnificent save to divert the midfielder’s free-kick onto the crossbar, but Dave Court’s side couldn’t find an equaliser.

Next up for the Glovers (according to The FA website) is a cup tie at home to Wells City on Sunday 8th March (2pm kick-off).

Yeovil Town Women marked their return to action with an emphatic South West Regional Football League victory, hitting Wells City for six on the Huish Park 3G.

Seven consecutive postponements had kept Dave Court’s side waiting almost two months for a competitive fixture, but they showed no signs of rust as they brushed aside their Somerset rivals with ease.

The opener arrived after just two minutes when Lily McNally’s effort was parried by the Wells goalkeeper, allowing Jodi Cornwall to blast home the rebound.

The lead was doubled on the half-hour mark as Keira Ealson-Taylor combined with McNally, who gave the goalkeeper no chance this time, firing into the bottom corner.

A dangerous delivery from Jess Hodge – making her first competitive start since suffering an ACL injury in 2024 – was turned into her own net by a Wells defender to make it 3–0. McNally then doubled her personal tally before the break to put her side firmly in control at half-time.

Yeovil continued to dominate after the restart but had to wait until the 85th minute for their fifth goal, as McNally rounded the goalkeeper to complete her hat-trick.

There was still time for substitute Chloe Davenport to add further gloss in stoppage time, unleashing a ferocious strike to cap a comprehensive afternoon for the Glovers.

The FA website currently has the score down as 5-0, but we’d prefer to take the word of the YTFC socials and trust that there was a sixth goal in there somewhere!

Next up, Yeovil will travel to Devon to face Feniton on Sunday 15th February, 2pm kick-off.

Yeovil Town Women continued their perfect start to the league season, as they beat Feniton 1-0 on Sunday, in a well-fought contest.

Following their gritty 2-1 win over Weston Super Mare in the previous week, Jodi Cornwall found herself on the scoresheet once again to give Yeovil all three points.

In a first half in which chances were limited, the Glovers were the brighter of the two sides. Becky Miles and Lily Simmons combined well on multiple occasions throughout the half but to no avail.

Yeovil continued to probe in the latter stages of the first period and were rewarded with the lead on the stroke of half time. The Glovers’ regular midfield creator Miles took a free-kick which fell nicely for Cornwall, who made no mistake with her finish to ensure Yeovil would go in at the break one-up.

A gallant second half performance, in which chances for either team were few and far between, saw Yeovil hold out for another well-deserved three points.

The Glovers’ focus was maintained for the whole ninety minutes, with this being personified by Abbie Vernon’s defensive prowess in the final stages of the contest.

Feniton looked to counter in the 86th minute, however the attack was expertly thwarted by Vernon, to keep Yeovil’s clean sheet and 100% record intact.

Dave Court’s team find themselves top of the Shield Services Group South West Regional Womens Football League Division One South. They have scored fifteen goals after five games and conceded just one, averaging an impressive three goals per game.

The accolade of club top scorer is currently tied between Zara Hunt and Lily McNally, who have seven goals each.
Yeovil Town Women now look forward to a league cup clash away at fierce rivals W*ymouth, as they travel to the Bob Lucas Stadium in what promises to be a spectacle.

Yeovil Town Women returned to action in style on Sunday as they thumped Wells City FC 4-0 following a weekend without football. This was their third league win in a row after beating Appledore and Feniton in previous weeks. Following their exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Winchester a fortnight ago, the Glovers bounced back to form in stunning fashion.

First half goals have defined Yeovil’s league season so far and they continued this trend as Lily McNally gave the Glovers the lead on the ten minute mark.

Moments later the lead was doubled courtesy of Chloe Davenport, who finished calmly to the keeper’s left.

Mid way through the half goalkeeper Emily Hall was called into action for the first time, as she produced a fantastic save to deny the visitors from a set piece.

The Glovers went in at the break two goals to the good.

Yeovil continued to knock on the door in the early stages of the second period, as goalscorers McNally and Davenport attempted to combine – it was the former who did extend the lead further on 47 minutes.

This pressure was demonstrated further in the 67th minute, as Jodi Cornwall struck the woodwork.

Two minutes later Becky Miles opened her league account, making it 4-0 to the Glovers, as she converted spectacularly direct from her corner.

Yeovil Town Women manager Dave Court spoke after his side’s win:

“I think everyone put on a really enjoyable afternoon in some difficult conditions so credit to everyone involved, it was really testing and I think everyone was a credit to the game. He began.

Dave praised his team’s togetherness in tough conditions.

“It’s a dressing room full of people who will work hard for each other, that’s the standard that they set themselves, I think we’ve got a group who do set high standards in terms of effort and commitment to each other, to performing well. We needed that resilience today in really difficult conditions.”

“We’re working calmly each week, we work hard in training to put things in place, so that on difficult days like today the girls have got a structure that they can work within and we hope their quality can shine through and today it did”.

Dave looked ahead to next week’s trip to Appledore.

“We’ll enjoy today, we’ll train twice, we’ll work hard, work on our fitness, which I think is an important thing for us to keep working on. We know Appledore will cause us problems, especially on their home pitch, so again we have to go there, be resilient, be hardworking, do the basics and hopefully our quality will come through, as it has today. However we do expect a very difficult game.”

Sunday’s win meant that the Glovers maintained their perfect record in the league, with three wins out of three. This puts them top of the Shield Services Group South West Regional Womens Football League Division One South.

Yeovil Town Women return to action on Sunday 26th October, as they travel to Appledore 14:00 KO.
