Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.Yeovil Town boss Mark Cooper says his players want to go far in the FA Trophy this season as they take on local rivals W*ymouth at Huish Park tonight.
The rearranged third round tie, which fell foul to the conditions brought by Storm Darragh at the weekend, is the Glovers’ first in the competition which they exited in the second round last season at the hands of Torquay United.
Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Mark Stillman ahead of the game, the manager said: “It’s a chance to get to Wembley and play in a major final at the national stadium and every player wants to do that in their career, so it is a competition we want to go far in.
“We wanted to play on Saturday, but that is gone, so now we looking forward to tonight. We told the players to do their own bits and pieces of fitness work and be ready to go again on Monday.”

The Glovers have made one change to the starting XI from their last outing, a 2-0 National League Premier Division victory at Woking ten days ago, with Josh Sims replacing on loan Bristol Rovers’ man Kofi Shaw, who drops to the bench.
Of Sims, Cooper said: “His pedigree is far too good for our level, he is up to speed fitness-wise and he has looked good coming off the bench, but now he needs to go on and start showing it from the start.”
Before the win at Woking, Yeovil lost three consecutive league games whilst W*ymouth are without a win in their last three matches with their last victory coming in the second round of this competition when they won 3-2 at Weston-super-Mare.
Cooper said he is expecting a battle from a Terras’ side struggling in the National League South relegation zone. He said: “It was cracking atmosphere when we played here (in the National League South) last year. It chucked it down with rain, big crowd and we managed to win that night, so it should be a good atmosphere. It is a local derby and form goes out the window, it will be two teams that don’t like each other. We know we have got to run hard and win our duels and compete well.“
Midfielder Josh Sims is the one change to the Yeovil Town starting XI for the rearranged FA Trophy third round tie with W*ymouth at Huish Park tonight.
He replaces on loan Bristol Rovers man Kofi Shaw from the 2-0 league win at Woking two days ago. Defender Michael Smith is named on the substitutes’ bench in place of striker Harvey Greenslade, who the club confirmed has joined National League South side Weston-super-Mare on loan until January.
For our seagull bothering visitors, former Glovers’ strikers Brandon Goodship and Malachi Linton and defender Calvin Brooks are in the starting XI with Brooklyn Genesini, who was on loan at Huish Park last season, is among the substitutes.

Yeovil Town attacker Harvey Greenslade has joined National League South sides Weston-super-Mare on loan.
The former Bristol Rovers man follows a similar path to Dylan Morgan, who had a spell by the seaside earlier on this season.
Speaking on his new front-man Weston manager Scott Bartlett said;
“Harvey is a powerful runner and is a good addition, he has been a long-term target and will offer us a lot of options at the top end of the pitch.
“Thank you to Mark and Yeovil for their help in getting it done so quickly”.
All the best to Harvey for his month or so at Weston.

The fourth round proper will take place the weekend of Saturday 4th January 2025.

With weather warnings for wind and rain all across the Westcountry, today’s FA Trophy third round tie with W*ymouth at Huish Park has been postponed.
The club have confirmed the tie has been rescheduled for Tuesday 10th December, 7:45 pm kick-off.
They added: “Ensuring the safety of fans, players, and staff is our absolute priority, and the decision was made following close monitoring of weather conditions.”
Ticket refunds are available by contacting the club directly – but you’ll have to do it before Tuesday, of course.
It’s back to Huish Park on Saturday as Yeovil Town take on derby rivals W*ymouth in the FA Trophy third round.
The Glovers were back on song last weekend as they beat Woking 2-0. A superb finish from midfield maestro Brett McGavin and a back post tap in for defender Finn Cousin-Dawson secured Yeovil’s first win after three consecutive league defeats.
As mentioned outside of last weekends dominant display Mark Cooper’s men have struggled to pick up points, however these games were against good opposition in the form of Barnet, York City and FC Halifax Town. Cooper will be hoping for another good win today, to be in with the chance of winning some silverware this season.
For the team from down the road it has been a tough month or so with no win in three and the sacking of manager Mark Molesley. The Terras last win came in a 3-2 victory away at Weston Super-Mare in the last round of the Trophy. Their last National League South win came over a month ago on the 2nd of November when beating Aveley 0-1.
Yeovil – Brett McGavin
A lot can be said when you have a midfielder who loves to find the back of the net. With a wonder long range finish against Woking the 24-year-old now has five goals in the season. As well as having a knack for scoring, McGavin also controls the tempo of the game alongside midfield partner Charlie Cooper.
With the Glovers strikers seeming to be afraid of bagging some goals it helps to have a a player being able to pick up the slack.

W*ymouth – Euan Pollock
This was a hard one to pick as W*ymouth’s best player this season has been the one Yeovil have sent on loan there in goalkeeper Will Buse. However, Bush is not allowed to play against his parent club so the next best player in a struggling Terras side is Centre Forward, Evan Pollock.
Even if hasn’t scored for the south-coast club this campaign he has contributed with two assists. He has also found himself getting regular game time this season ahead of the likes of Brandon Goodship, Malachi Linton and Ezio Touray to name a few. Pollock is only 22 so has had lot of pressure put on his shoulder in his first season in senior mens football.
Yeovil boss Mark Cooper is aware that form means nothing in a game like this. He said: “We’ve watched their last five, six games. They’re different, now without a manager, they changed their manager last week, Jason Matthews is a great lad, he’s in charge. He’ll have them organised, whatever W*ymouth team turn up, we know, just by the occasion it’s going to give them a lift… We have to play well.”

W*ymouth captain, Tom Bearwish penned a letter to fans ahead of the clash. He said: “We all know what’s happening tomorrow, and just like all of you it’s a massive game for all of us, too. Being lucky enough to play for W*ymouth, I’m always excited about the next game, but even I know this one is different. This is one that the whole squad is looking forward to.
“So, understandably tomorrow is a huge game for everyone. A cup game away to our biggest rivals, it can’t get better than that. But, I’ll be honest, as a player it’s important that I stay as calm as possible.”
We have definitely met before with 184 games being played since 1908 between the two clubs. Out of those 184 the Glovers have won 79 games, The Terras taking 67 games and 38 being draws.
The last time the two met was in last season when W*ymouth were awarded a win after the game was called off due to a medical emergency when leading 1-0.
The last time they played at Huish Park was in the same season as the Glovers ran out 2-0 winners, thanks to goals from Jake Hyde and Jordan Young.
There are a whole of host of Glovers past and one present that play for the team from down the road.
First one to look at the seagull botherers’ loan keeper, Yeovil-born Will Buse. Although the shot stopper won’t be playing tomorrow as Yeovil still own him, he has started the majority of games for the Dorset team and will be gutted to be missing out I’m sure.

The next is another Yeovil born player in Brooklyn Genesini. The right back was on loan from Swindon Town at Huish Park at the back end of last season making seven appearances for the Glovers.
Midfielder Calvin Brooks also spent time in Somerset in the early part of his career, joining from Dorchester Town in 2014. Brooks spent most of that season on loan at W*ymouth however, before making his move permanent at the start of the 15/16 season.
A name familiar with the Glovers fans will be that of Jordan Maguire-Drew who now plays on the south coast. The 27-year-old joined Yeovil in the 22/23 season, making a total of 30 appearances before leaving for the Bob Lucas in September this year.
Centre-forward, Malachi Linton is the fifth player in the Terras squad to have played at Huish Park. His time in South Somerset wasn’t the best with the him being sent on loan to both Taunton Town and W*ymouth. He did however make 35 appearances for the glovers during his time here.

The last of the former Glovers is another Centre forward in Brandon Goodship. The striker had multiple spells at Yeovil, with the first being on loan from then parent club Bournemouth during the back end of the 15/16 season. He then rejoined the Glovers a year later, this time on a permanent deal, which only lasted six months before he was released and W*ymouth signed him.
Glovers’ defenders Jake Wannell, and Dom Bernard are both still suspended.

Will it be on? Won’t it be on? Is it a Derby? Isn’t it a Derby? Dave, Ben and Ian are back pondering tomorrow’s FA Trophy match with W*ymouth.
Yeovil Town Women made it two league wins in a row last weekend as they defeated Bideford by seven goals to nil. Despite a fortnight without football, Paul Knight’s side returned to league action emphatically.
Paul Knight made three changes to the starting eleven who beat Feniton as Emma Brazell, Becca McManus and new signing Hannah Hughes were all handed starts.

The deadlock was broken after a mere fourteen minutes as Becky Miles saw her free-kick effort fly past the Bideford goalkeeper to give the Glovers a deserved lead.
As the half-time whistle edged closer, Yeovil doubled their lead in the 42nd minute, Terri Will scored, giving the hosts some daylight heading into the break.
After the break, half-time substitute Ceyda Fordrey made a swift impact as she saw her effort saved before Chloe Davenport followed up to give Yeovil three in the 56th minute.

After a largely dominant second half performance, a prolific spell saw Yeovil score four goals in as many minutes and turn the scoreline into a thrashing. Miles, Hannah Hughes, Niamh Nicholls and Abbie Carslake provided the goals in a late goalscoring flurry which occurred between the 75th and 79th minutes.
A debut goal for Hughes as well as Miles’ second of the game and 8th of the season all but ensured that the three points would be Yeovil’s.
The match finished 7-0 and Yeovil Town Women now find themselves 4th in the Regen Arable Division One South.
The player of the match was awarded to debutant Hannah Hughes.

After a battling first half we came out flat in the second half and struggled to match Yeovil’s tempo and paid the price! Two week break to get things right!

Yeovil Town Women manager Paul Knight spoke after the win.
“We’ve had no football for a couple of weeks and to be fair, we were relaxed today, Paul began. We felt relaxed and I thought the football was better, the performance was about how well they played on the pitch and I think that outweighs goals to be honest.
Knight expressed his satisfaction with the integration of young players into his team,
“It demonstrates what Yeovil is all about, the pathway we’re trying to create. We had a requirement to call players up this weekend due to injuries and in a club of our size that’s what we’ve got to be able to do. The two young girls have performed and did not look out of place.
Looking ahead to next week,
“I think we just needed to play today, we haven’t played for two weeks. Regarding what we do this week we just go about our business as normal and we just pick the strongest team to go out and perform next week.”
Yeovil Town Women return to action on Sunday 8th December as they travel to Weston Super Mare 14:00 KO.

Captain Matt Worthington has said his Yeovil Town team-mates understand the significance of a derby against W*ymouth in the FA Trophy third round this weekend.
The Glovers host the National League South strugglers this weekend and the skipper has his eyes set on progressing in the competition.
The midfielder returned as an 88th minute substitute in last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Woking having missed the previous two months with an ankle injury sustained in a freak incident when warming up in the goalless draw at Tamworth in October.
Speaking about the injury, he told BBC Somerset’s Jack Killah: “It’s been five or six weeks since I was last playing, so it is nice to be back involved with the team and I am looking forward to the weekend. I had a masterplan of a kick-off and there was a sniper in the stands that took me out! It was really unfortunate, not what I had planned obviously! It’s just a freak landing and injury, so I will not be looking to do that again!
“It’s been a difficult time. Luckily I have not had many injuries in my career and always been fit and available, so it has been difficult but a lot of players have had worse injuries, so I cannot be too down about it. It was great to get back, the lads had a great game and we just needed to see the game out (when I came on). Now it is just about building minutes up again and getting firing again.
“I was still in every day behind the scenes and I like to think I like am quite loud and funny and able to have a laugh with the team. It is just about being around the group and trying to help out as much as I can. It is a learning experience, not something I have had to do too often, so I am just pleased to be back.”

The Terras, who sit second-from-bottom of the National League South, make the short journey up the A37 this weekend having lost their last three matches and without a manager following the sacking of Mark Moseley.
Former goalkeeper Jason Matthews took interim charge of their latest defeat, a 1-0 loss at home to Tonbridge Angels last weekend, and is currently expected to take charge at Huish Park. However, the Terras are not adverse to unveiling a new manager on the day of the biggest game of the season (for them!), so don’t rule out a new boss being in the dug-out.
Worthy is well aware that, despite the desperate form of our seagull-bothering ‘friends’, the atmosphere of a derby will make form count for little.
He said: “It is a massive game. If you can draw them, you want to pull them out of the hat. I have played in a few, I scored in one away from home which was brilliant, so all the lads know how did the occasion it will be on Saturday. The form we are in at the moment, everyone will be ready to take on the challenge.
“I haven’t seen too much of them, I do not look at them, how they are getting on. But we know that comes Saturday it does not matter what their form is, it is a derby game so they will be up for it. It will be a difficult game, no matter where they are in the league, so we have to be on top of our game.
“Any tournament is big, we were gutted about going out of the FA Cup, because we wanted a run in that. But it is about continuing the winning mentality, it doesn’t matter if it is the Somerset Men’s Premier Cup, the FA Trophy or the league, it is about building on our form, so we will be looking to have a good run in it.“
