Under 18s (Page 4)

Yeovil Town Under-18s travel to Torquay United in the South West Counties Youth League’s Gary Else Memorial Cup looking to carry on their cup success on Saturday (10.30am kick-off)

The young Glovers picked up a 4-1 win over Boreham Wood in the National League Under-19s Cup in midweek with a number of players who have been out on loan, including one of their goal-scorers Benjani Junior, who is on loan at Sherborne Town, in action.

Last weekend, they won 4-3 in a thrilling tie against Wimborne Town in the league’s robin round cup tournament, their first win in the competition this season.

Their opponents at the South Devon Sports College Centre are managed by Ryan Dickson, who played more than 100 games in a three-year spell at Huish Park.

The club’s other age group sides are also in action in the Junior Premier League with the Under-13s, Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s teams all taking on opposition from Weston-super-Mare.

The Under-12s, who play as part of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, will face Torquay United.

Striker Charlie Bateson bagged his second hat-trick in as many weeks as Yeovil Town Under-18s picked up their first win in the Gary Else Memorial Cup this season.

The young striker starred in a thrilling 4-3 win over Wimborne Town in the young Glovers’ third match in the South West Counties Youth League round robin cup competition at Alvington on Saturday.

Having fallen behind to an early goal after just seven minutes, Bateson broke through to prod past the visiting keeper five minutes later. Wimborne restored there advantage on 14 minutes but it lasted just four minutes as Bateson broke away again and coolly slotted home his second.

The hosts fell behind again on 20 minutes and it was left to Bateson to pull them back in to it rounding the keeper and firing another equaliser on 27 minutes to make it 3-3 at half-time.

The second half was less breathless and settled on 71 minutes when Jacob Shore stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Bateson’s treble means he has now netted eight times in his last six outings including a hat-trick in a friendly win at Sherborne School last weekend.

Yeovil Town Under-18s striker Charlie Bateson is looking to continue his red-hot scoring form as the young Glovers take on Wimborne Town in the Gary Else Memorial Cup at Alvington on Saturday (10.30am kick-off).

The frontman has scored six times in his last five matches, including a hat-trick in a friendly win over Sherborne School last weekend, and has eight games in the South West Counties Youth League so far this season.

The Under-18s go in to the tie looking to win their first match in the league’s round robin cup competition having drawn with BRS Coaching and lose at Bridgwater United in their other ties.

In the Junior Premier League, the Glovers’ Under-11s, Under-12s, Under-14s and Under-16s are all in action.

The Under-11s travel to FC Wiltshire, the Under-12s host Juventus Devon while the Under-14s and Under-16s both travel to Bridgwater United in their respective age group categories.

Good luck to all the teams turning out in green and white this weekend.

A hat-trick from prolific striker Charlie Bateson was enough to earn Yeovil Town Under-18s a 3-2 win in a friendly match over Sherborne School Sixth Form on Saturday.

Having gone behind after just seven minutes, Bateson broke through to get his first nine minutes later and added a second ten minutes before half-time. The hosts pulled level a minute after the equaliser before Bateson completed his hat-trick after 76 minutes.

However, the young Glovers also lost top spot in the South West Counties Youth League as Bridgwater United picked up a 3-1 win at Mangotsfield United to return to the top of the table.

There were three wins and two defeats for the club’s other age group teams in the Junior Premier League at the weekend.

The Under-12s won against Paulton Rovers while the Under-15s and Under-16s were winners over Mid-Somerset Regional Talent Centre. The Under-13s and Under-14s teams, who all play as part of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, were defeated by their opponents from Mid-Somerset RTC.

Yeovil Town’s age group teams are in Junior Premier League action this weekend.

The Under-12s through until Under-16s teams, which play as part of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, are all in action.

The Under-12s take on their counterparts from Paulton Rovers, with the other four teams take on Mid-Somerset Regional Talent Centre. There is no match for the Under-11s team.

The Under-18s do not have a South West Counties Youth League fixture, but have arranged a friendly against the Sixth Form side of Sherborne School.

In the league, Bridgwater United Under-18s play their game in hand over the table-topping Glovers as they travel to sixth-placed Mangotsfield United.

An injury time winner from substitute Nathan Hart took ten-man Yeovil Town Under-18s top of the South West Counties League table.

Hart, who came on as a 60th minute substitute, struck four minutes in to stoppage time at the end of the second half to seal a 4-3 win over third placed Cirencester Town.

The win moved the young Glovers top of the table with former leaders Bridgwater United’s match against Bath City falling foul to the weather.

Yeovil took the lead earlier through a third-minute strike from young striker Charlie Bateson, his eighth of the season.

Having been pegged back, Max Dyer restored the visitor’s lead with a thunderous 32nd minute strike from the edge of the box.

Cirencester drew level on the hour and then suffered a double setback on 65 minutes when Ethan O’Sullivan was sent off for giving away a free-kick which the home side scored from.

Mason Hunter’s 90th-minute thunderbolt from 25 yards looked to have earnt the visitors a late point, before Hart struck at the death.

Manager Matt Percival was only able to name three substitutes having seen goalkeeper Rob Hollard, midfielder Sam Hodges, captain Jake Graziano and striker Benjani Junior, who have joined Western League sides Gillingham Town and Sherborne Town since the side’s last match.

Yeovil Town Under-18s: Jordan Witcombe, Mikey Archibald (for Corey Koerner, 60), Max Dyer (captain), Jacob Shore, Harrison Foster, Mason Hunter, Aidan Skiverton, Charlie Bateson, Alex Stevens (for Jack Bareham, 65), Josh Haskett (for Nathan Hart, 60), Ethan O’Sullivan.

Yeovil Town Under-18s are back in South West Counties Youth League action for the first time this year as they travel to Cirencester Town (10.30am kick-off) today.

The match is their first action since they went down 2-1 to leaders Bridgwater United in the league’s Gary Else Memorial Cup at the start of December.

Since that fixture, they have lost goalkeeper Rob Hollard and midfielder Sam Hodges who have joined Western League Division One side Gillingham Town on loan, and captain Jake Graziano and striker Benjani Junior who have both seen action for Sherborne Town, who play in the Western League Premier Division.

Cirencester sit in third place in the division, one place and one point behind the Glovers, with both sides having played eight matches.

A win for either would take them top of the table with Bridgwater’s home match with Bath City having fallen foul to the cold weather.

The Under-18s’ line-up for the match at Cirencester posted on the @ytfcyouth Instagram.

Yeovil Town Under-18s’ home match against Swindon Supermarine has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Alvington.

The South West Counties Youth League fixture was postponed on Friday afternoon with heavy rain predicted in Somerset overnight and in to tomorrow morning.

The home matches for the age group teams representing Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust have also fallen foul to the weather.

The Under-11s had been due to face Juventus Devon while the Under-13s and Under-15s were scheduled to play their counterparts from South Somerset Regional Talent Centre.

Yeovil Town Under-18s will take on South West Counties League champions Torquay United at Alvington on Saturday (10.30am kick-off).

The Gulls, who were managed by first-team assistant manager Chris Todd before he arrived at Huish Park in the summer, won the division’s league and Gary Else Memorial Cup last season.

Yeovil go in to the game on the back of four league wins, including a 3-0 win at Mangotsfield United last weekend, which took them in to second place in the league table ahead of Torquay, albeit the visitors have played three fewer games.

In the Junior Premier League, the club’s Under-13s, Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s will all play against their counterparts from the North Somerset Regional Talent Centre on Saturday.

The Under-11s face Paulton Rovers whilst the Under-12s take on the South Somerset Regional Talent Centre in a fixture on Monday.

The Under-11s-Under-16s sides all play as part of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.

A long range effort from captain Jake Graziano capped a 3-0 win for Yeovil Town Under-18s at Mangotsfield United on Saturday.

The young Glovers made a rapid start to the South West Counties Youth League fixture taking the lead after just two minutes when Max Dyer headed home a cross from Mason Hunter after just two minutes.

Graziano’s 25-yard effort following a flick-on by Jacob Shore added a second on eight minutes and striker Charlie Bateson put the game to bed on 14 minutes running on to a ball over the top and slotting past the keeper.

The result keeps Yeovil second in the table with a strong Torquay United side coming to Alvington next weekend. The Gulls, who were managed by Glovers’ first-team coach Chris Todd last season, are third in the table having played three games less than Yeovil and five games less than leaders Bridgwater United.
