Ollie Haste (Page 7)

Both Truro City and Plymouth Parkway were in first round action of the FA Trophy on Saturday with different outcomes for the Glovers loanees.

Ollie Haste was not named in Paul Wotton’s side as Truro were dumped out of the competition.

Presumably, he was withdrawn from availability to avoid being cup tied for later rounds should Yeovil require him.

No such selection issues for Toby Stephens, fresh off an impressive midweek display he was allowed to compete in Parkway’s tie.

He started, and played an hour as Ben Seymour sent them through to the second round.

As per the competition rules, Stephens is now ineligible to represent Yeovil in the FA Trophy.

Yeovil Town’s Ollie Haste was back in the starting line up for Truro as the on loan defender made his second debut for the White Tigers on Tuesday.

Haste played a key role in Truro’s 3-0 away win at Salisbury.

The defender made a couple of important defensive clearances as well as being part of the build up to at least one of his team’s goals.

Yeovil Town’s two loan stars Toby Stephens and Ollie Haste both saw their sides win on Saturday, but only one made it onto the pitch.

Toby Stephens was a rock in the centre of midfield for Plymouth Parkway as they thrashed Hendon 6-0 in the Southern League Premier Division South at Bolitho Park. Former Glovers’ loanee Ben Seymour scored four goals in the hammering.

Haste returned to Southern League Premier Division leaders Truro City during the week and was an unused substitute as they came from 2-0 down to win 4-3 at Hayes & Yeading.

The 19-year-old had a successful spell at Bolitho Park – also the home ground of the White Tigers – at the start of the season before making a brief return to Huish Park.

He was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw at Dorking Wanderers and in the goalless opening match against Taunton Town in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

Ollie Haste has rejoined Truro City on loan for the rest of the season.

The Glovers’ youngster originally saw his first loan spell come to an end following a string of impressive displays for the White Tigers.

Haste was on the bench once, without appearing, following his return, but now heads back to Paul Wotton’s side for the remainder of the campaign.

Go well, Ollie.

Yeovil Town’s on loan youngster Ollie Haste was named ‘Man of the Match’ for Truro as his helped the White Tigers maintain their brilliant start to the season with a 1-0 away win over Hartley Wintney.

Haste played the full 90 minutes once again and topped out 39% of the vote in a Man of the Match poll after the game.

Nice work, Ollie.

Toby Stephens was not named in the match day squad.

Gloucester City were in FA Cup action, and much like in the last round, Ollie Hulbert was not given permission to play in case the Glovers need him at some stage in the competition.

As a side note, Gloucester this week changed their manager with Lee Mansell relieved of his duties before Stephen King was announced as their new head coach.

It’s an extra special, midweek Brucey bonus edition of the Loan Watch with some added international pizzazz to throw in too.

Let’s start at Truro where Ollie Haste continues to rack up the minutes for the White Tigers.

Another 90 for him on Tuesday with his side grabbing a late, late winner against Yate Town.

Haste also had a great chance to score his first goal for his adopted side shortly before half time, but saw his header go wide

Toby Stephens was not named in the match day squad.

Off to Gloucester we go, and Olivier Hulbert, our (not in any way) French winger was a second half subtitute for the Tigers in a 1-1 draw away at Banbury Utd in the National League North.

Hulbert came on in the 63rd minute with his side equalising in the 65th!

On loan Bournemouth defender Owen Bevan was in Vienna, Austria with the Wales Under 21 side on Tuesday evening.

Sadly, Matty Jones’ side lost 2-0 in the friendly fixture with Bevan coming on in the 82nd minute for his international debut.

Get back to Somerset, sharpish Owen, we’ll need you at Southend!

Yeovil Town’s loan contingent were back in action this weekend, with Truro City and Gloucester City having very different results.

Firstly, Gloucester City were on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat at Chorley.

Glovers’ striker Olivier Hulbert started the game in Lancashire  and completed an hour before being taken off. It was his first match back having missed out on the Tigers’ two FA Cup games having been denied permission to play by Yeovil.

Down in Truro, things went a lot better for Ollie Haste, a regular now in the White Tigers’ back line. He played 90 minutes as Paul Wootton’s side picked up a big 1-0 win over Gosport Borough courtesy of a late penalty.

Haste was also the Programme cover star too, which is nice.

Fellow Glover, midfielder Toby Stephens was an unused substitute.

Ollie Haste notched up another 90 minutes for Truro City on Wednesday evening.

The White Tigers faced Weston Super-Mare in a league game and played out a 0‐0 draw against Reuben Reid’s side.

Haste played the entire game whilst Toby Stephens was an unused substitute in a game with fairly few chances between two unbeaten sides.

Only one of Yeovil Town’s loan duo was in action on Saturday as Toby Stephens completed his first 90 minutes for Truro.

The Cornish side were dumped out of the FA Cup by Merthyr Town losing 5-2 in the First Qualifying Round.

Paul Wotton‘s side were depleted through injury and availability naming just five subs on the bench with a full seven allowed.

Ollie Haste was not involved in the squad with Wotton saying post match that two of his loan signings – one of which was presumably Haste – was “not eligible to play in the FA Cup”.

We can assume then that Haste had not been given permission to play to avoid the youngster being cup-tied should the Glovers require him later on in the competition.

The White Tigers next fixture is… almost inexplicably… away at Merthyr Town again, this time in the league next Saturday.

Yeovil Town loanee Ollie Haste was back in the starting line up for Truro just 48 hours after hobbling off injured.

He played a full 90 minutes for the White Tigers in their 1-1 draw at Tiverton.

The midfielder has played a pivotal role so far for his adopted side and came close to getting off the mark for his new club in the 51st minute with a shot blocked from close range.

However, the points were shared after a late second half equaliser cancelled out Tyler Harvey’s opener for Truro.

Toby Stephens was an unused substitute in Devon.

Paul Wotton’s remain unbeaten so far this season.
