We begin in Devon, where Torquay United won for the first time since a win in January over basement-side Dover, as they thumped Dartford 4-1, lifting them back into the top half of the table and leaving the visitors perilously close to the drop zone. A big shock came at Worthing, where Taunton Town registered their first win of 2024 in a 3-1 win over the hosts to boost their own survival hopes. Havant & Waterlooville played host in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Tonbridge Angels, former Glover Ryan Seager continuing his goalscoring run with the relegation threatened side.
10-man Maidstone couldn’t recover against St Albans, as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to further boost the visitor’s playoff ambitions; Hampton & Richmond continued their own playoff push with a dramatic 96th minute winner over Tuesday’s visitors Chippenham Town, while Aveley’s promotion hopes took a hit as they fell to a Malachi Linton double against W*ymouth. In Essex, there was a 1-1 draw between Braintree Town and Slough Town, while in East Sussex, Eastbourne Borough boosted their hopes of survival in a 1-0 win over new manager Alan Dowson’s Hemel Hempstead side.
In the 4pm kickoffs (you read that correctly, an RTC on the M4 delayed these games), the wait was worth it for visiting side Farnborough, as they defeated Bath City in a 2-0 win. In the other later kickoff, Weston-super-mare defeated bottom side Dover Athletic in a 1-0 win. In the “even later” kickoff, the 7:30pm game between Truro City and Chelmsford City did not disappoint. In the second game played at Gloucester City’s Meadow Park by Truro, the Clarets romped to a 4-1 win, two George Alexander penalties contributing to their victory.
