Another weekend, another 3 points for the Glovers! As Yeovil registered a narrow 1-0 win over Havant & Waterlooville yesterday, let’s see how the rest of the league got on, during a day of yet more miserable weather!
We begin in Dorset, where W*ymouth fell to a farcical 4-1 defeat at home to title chasing Worthing. Ollie Pearce made it 32 goals in 31 games as he hit another hattrick, as W*ymouth struggled against 9 men, and a managerless visiting side (Adam Hinshelwood was sent off with 20 minutes to go). There were also big wins for fellow playoff contenders, as Chelmsford City won 3-0 at ten-man Eastbourne Borough, while Bath City secured a huge 3-1 win at home to St Albans City to make it four consecutive wins.
Farnborough won a thrilling 3-2 encounter at home to Truro City, an 89th minute winner from Hady Ghandour handing the hosts the three points, while there was yet more late drama around the London area – Welling United and Tonbridge Angels played out a 2-2 draw, Sonny Fish equalising for the hosts against his former employers in the 92nd minute; while Slough Town recovered from a two goal deficit to draw 2-2 at home to ten-man Chippenham Town.
Tuesday’s visitors, Weston-super-mare, continued their four game road trip with a 2-1 win over Hemel Hempstead, courtesy of an 86th minute winner from Jacob Cane; elsewhere, another 2-1 win came at Dover Athletic, as Dartford left with all three points to further dent Dover’s survival hopes. There was a massive win for Aveley to keep their playoff push alive, as they defeated Hampton & Richmond in a 1-0 finish, and the same score line could be found in Essex, as Braintree Town condemned Torquay United to their fifth consecutive defeat.
There was supposed to be a final game to mention, however as expected, Taunton’s fixture against Maidstone was postponed thanks to… yes you guessed it, an unplayable pitch.
