Well, there were goals galore in the National League South today, despite a reduced schedule thanks to the FA Trophy 5th Round, as well as Mother Nature herself. Let’s take a look at how everyone else got on as Yeovil won away at Tonbridge Angels in a 4-2 cracker!

We’ve become accustomed to this in these roundups now – we begin at Worthing, who hit six at home to bottom side Dover Athletic, Ollie Pearce bagging four of them himself. The visitors did their best, scoring four of their own as Worthing had to replace their goalkeeper in the first half following a serious injury to Josh Jeffries (who is in hospital and recovering). There were another six goals for a home side, as St Albans City stuffed Taunton in a 6-0 drubbing, Shaun Jeffers scoring a hat-trick in the process.

There was late drama at Plainmoor as Torquay United surrendered a lead three times to Slough Town, a 91st minute winner from Leon Chambers-Parillon handing the Rebels the three points and leaving the hosts with one win in ten games. Last weekend’s hosts Maidstone were held to a 1-1 draw by Hemel Hempstead, courtesy of a 96th minute equaliser by George Williams; meanwhile Chippenham Town fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Braintree Town.

There were two more games in the National League South, and both finished in 1-0 scorelines. Bath City registered their first win against Dartford since 2019, thanks to an early Cody Cooke goal, while Chelmsford City ended W*ymouth’s four game win-streak with their home win. There were two games cancelled due to the weather, with Truro City’s first game at Taunton’s ground, infamous for its drainage (or lack thereof) being called off against Eastbourne Borough, while Weston-super-mare had their home game against Farnborough called off too.

There were three teams from the National League South in FA Trophy action on Saturday as well, and all three faced elimination from the tournament. Bromley ended Aveley’s run with a 2-0 home win, while Welling United took a 3-0 defeat at home to Barnet. Hampton & Richmond were the subject of an upset, as they were defeated by step 3 side Macclesfield at home.
