A business controlled by Yeovil Town chairman Scott Priestnall has exclusive rights to buy back land surrounding Huish Park from South Somerset District Council, the authority has confirmed.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the council confirmed that Yeovil Town Holdings Limited has the option to buy-back the land which it acquired for £2.8m in May.

It follows days of pressure on social media led by Martin Hellier, the local businessman who has publicly stated his desire to buy the club.

The Gloverscast has also been in regular contact with the council regarding different aspects of the deal.

The statement said: “The proposal gives YTFC the option to buy-back the land the club occupies in the future when its financial outlook has improved.

“For full clarity, the option to buy-back is with Yeovil Town Holdings, the organisation that formally held ownership of Huish Park and its associated land.”

Yeovil Town Holdings Limited is the company set up by former owners Norman Hayward and John Fry in 2010 when they separated the ownership of Huish Park and the land around.

It was bought by Priestnall when he completed his takeover of the club in 2019, together with Yeovil Football & Athletic Club (YF&AC) which runs the club’s football operations and previously owned the land upon which Huish Park stands. However, as with YTFC Holdings, YF&AC owns nothing since all the assets of both companies were sold to the council in May.

YF&AC is also the business which club director Stuart Robins has a 20% shareholding in, and the one which Simul Sports, the group fronted by former Cardiff City director Julian Jenkins, was negotiating with Priestnall to buy up until it ended its bid earlier this year.

It has not been made public which company an unnamed “preferred party” in exclusive talks with Priestnall and the club is seeking to acquire – but only by buying YTFC Holdings would the owner be in control of the destiny of ni the land around Huish Park stadium.

Priestnall has been YTFC Holdings’ only director since the resignation of Glenn Collis last summer. There are a number of minority shareholders who hold a stake in the company, but the chairman holds a controlling share.

Striker Ollie Hulbert has returned to Yeovil Town after his loan spell at Plymouth Parkway expired, the club has confirmed.

The teenager signed for the Southern League Premier Division side at the end of November and speaking at the time Parkway boss Lee Hobbs suggested that the former Bristol Rovers youngster was looking to move in January.

In its round-up of the progress of the club’s on loan players published on Monday, YTFC.net said: “Hulbert has now returned to Huish Park following the expiry of his loan.” On Sunday, we published our own regular Loan Watch series which you can read – here.

Prior to his departure, Hulbert had made three appearances off the bench for the Glovers with his last appearance coming off the bench after 72 minutes in the 1-1 draw at Maidstone United on October 29.

He was an unused substitute on a number of occasions under manager Mark Cooper and his return will now see him challenge for a starting position – or perhaps move on, as predicted by Lee Hobbs.

Another Saturday means it’s time for another edition of the original and best #YTFC Loan Watch.

It wasn’t a great day for many of the Glovers loanees though.

Let’s start at Sherborne Town.
The Zebra’s started Jake Graziano in defence and Benjani Jnr was back amongst the substitutes after recovering from a slight injury.

However, their side fell 3-1 to Buckland Athletic.

At Gillingham (with a hard G) Sam Hodges and Rob Hollard will have to wait for their debut after the Gills’ (again, hard G) game against match against Brislington fell foul to the weather.

To Plymouth where Mother Nature was the winner as Parkway’s game against Gosport Borough was also a wash out.

Toby Stephens and Ollie Hulbert will have to wait for their next appearance.

Speaking of those who didn’t play, Max Evans was left out of the Bedford Town squad to play Hednesford Town.

Bedford signed goalkeeper Dale Eve from Hereford this week and he appears to have got the nod. Evans’ loan spell was due to end on January 19th.

Back to those who did play on the weekend and Will Dawes was back in action for Stratford Town.

King’s Langley FC scored two late goals to turn the game around and take three points.

Dawes played the full 90.

As did Ollie Haste at Truro who was part of the White Tigers’ action packed 2-2 draw away at Hendon.

Plenty of these sides are back in midweek action so stay tuned for more round ups on the Gloverscast.

Yeovil Town’s age group teams are back in Junior Premier League action this weekend as the season resumes after a break over the festive period.

The Under-13s, Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s who play as part of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust will all face their opposite numbers from Torquay United.

The Under-11s take on South West Saints and the Under-12s play Bridgwater United.

Good luck to all those turning out in green and white this weekend.

Yeovil Town have announced official departure of two contracted players and two loanees.

Louis Britton was signed on a season long deal soon after the arrival of Mark Cooper but has been deemed surpluss to requirements and leaves his deal six months early by mutual consent.

He played just a handful of times, scoring in the Somerset Men’s Premier Cup against Taunton.

Jake Scrimshaw has been missing from squads since the 22nd of October, he was a late subsititute in the 2-0 defeat to Oldham, Mark Cooper recently confirmed he had been dealing with a “personal issue”, but he now leaves the club.

He departs with as much as 18 months left on his original deal having made just four subsitute appearances, he failed to score in Green and White.

Loanees Ewan Clark and Sam Pearson have also seen their deals expire and they return to Bristol City.

Pearson has confirmed a move to AFC Wimbledon after recovering from fatigue, his last game was also that 2-0 defeat to Oldham.

He returns to Ashton Gate having scored twice for the Glovers.

Ewan Clark, seen by many as Pearson’s replacement, also returns to Bristol with six games under his belt. The tricky winger was last seen in the 0-0 against Scunthorpe at Huish Park on December 10th.

Speedy winger Andrew Oluwabori has extended his loan at Yeovil Town until the end of the National League season.

The 21-year-old has appeared seven times in league and FA Trophy action since joining from Peterborough United at the start of November.

He came on as a second half substitute to make a real impact in the 2-0 home win over Torquay United on New Year’s Day having been left out of the starting XI in recent weeks.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “It’s been very good so far. It’s been a good period for me, I wanted to get out and get games so I’ve enjoyed it.

“The fans have been great, they’ve been welcoming and they really get behind you.

“I’d like to thank the fans for their support. I’m going to continue to do all I can to try and excite you.”

The extension follows the return of fellow loanee Jamie Andrews to his parent club West Bromwich Albion yesterday.

The Glovers’ other loanees goalkeeper Will Buse and defender Owen Bevan are both at Huish Park until the end of the season from Bristol City and AFC Bournemouth respectively, whilst forward Jordan Maguire-Drew is on loan until the end of this month from Grimsby Town.

Maguire-Drew’s stay was advertised as a loan with a view to a permanent move by Yeovil, a suggestion which his parent club later poured scorn on – see here. We remain to see what happens with that one.

Yeovil Town Under-18s goalkeeper Rob Hollard and midfielder Sam Hodges have joined Western League side Gillingham Town on loan.

The signings were announced on the @ytfcyouth Instagram account – here – confirming that both players will hold dual registration allowing them to also play for the young Glovers.

The Gills sit in 16th place in Division One and take on third-placed Brislington at Hardings Lane on Saturday when the pair will have a chance to make their debuts with the Under-18s not scheduled to play this weekend.

They join Under-18s team-mates Benjani Junior and Jake Graziano who have previously joined Sherborne Town, who play in the Western League Premier Division, on loan.

Yeovil Town have confirmed that West Bromwich Albion loanee Jamie Andrews has returned to the Hawthorns after the expiry of his loan spell.

The 20-year old played eight times in the Glovers midfield with performances against Notts County and FC Halifax Town standing out from the pack.

His final appearance came in the 2-0 home win over Torquay United on New Year’s Day.
