Loan Watch

It’s time for a bumper Easter edition of the Loan Watch, strap in, there’s lots to get through.

Let’s start in the National League South, where Torquay are one of SIX, yes, SIX teams who can still win the league with a single game to go, bonkers.,

Jordan Thomas started both of their Easter weekend games against high flying Truro and low lying W*ymouth, the Gulls won them both.

On the other hand, Will Buse had a less enjoyable time for The Terras.

Firstly, on Friday, our claret and blue friends gave up a 2-0 lead against Salisbury, before getting a pasting from Torquay on Monday. That said, Buse didn’t do much wrong.

Into the regional league now and as the headline suggests, Sherborne and Yeovil have continued their relationship with plenty of minutes for plenty of young Glovers across  plenty of games.

The Zebras played on, Sat 12th, Mon 14th, Weds 16th and Saturday 19th since the last update, a bonkers final week.

All of Joe Crisp, Ollie Hughes, Corey Koerner, Jaydon Biss & Blake Watts got time both from the start and the bench, plenty of moments to highlight, but I’ll pick out Blake Watts getting MOTM in one of the game, here’s a picture of the 17-year old being presented with a bottle of (Non alcoholic – honest, guv’) bubbly.,

After the final game of the season at the weekend, Sherborne Town 1st Team Manager Neil Waddleton told the Gloverscast:

“I truly value my relationship with Matt Percival at YTFC. Together we have created a pathway at Sherborne Town for young lads at YTFC to develop and gain valuable experiences within the game. The lads we have had this year have been fantastic. They have shown great aptitude and attitude. Their development is visible and they have been a great for us at Sherborne Town. We are looking forward to many of them returning to preseason and going again”.
Isn’t that nice!? There’s been a steady stream of young Glovers dipping in and out of the sides at Sherborne, including plenty getting time in their reserves, I’ve tried to cover as many as I can, and apologies if I’ve missed any but it’s been great to see the young YTFC players getting competitive game time.

We keep going, To Wellington, where Jacob Shore played twice over the Easter weekend, including in a 2-0 win on Monday to wrap up their season.
The defender has chipped in with a couple of goals this season.

Over at Bridport, Sol Padmore and George Geraghty were both in their first team squad for a 4-2 win over Axminster on Good Friday to wrap up their league campaign.

Padmore has been involved pretty much the entire season, whilst Geraghty’s goals for the U18s has seen his progression into the first team come as the campaign grew on.

Moss Jackson-Collis, just a 17-year old, was used from the bench as Shaftesbury and Larkhall played out a draw, which was enough to secure them both safety in that division.

And that’s just about it, there have been so many cool moments of young players getting out on deals and playing locally, many of the regional divisions are now finished with the National League South duo still with work to do.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading these updates, they’re not always easy to put together, so I’d like to say thanks to the people that have helped along the way, including Daniel Shore, John Hallett and Sam Bowers who have sent information, and line ups and to those who have allowed us to use images of the lads in action.

The Glovers’ first team were picking up three big ones at Huish Park on Saturday afternoon, there were minutes and points on the agenda for our loanees too.

Firstly, Jordan Thomas was back in Torquay’s starting line up for their designated ‘yellow day’ which saw them pick up a 2-0 win over Slough Town to keep pace with the title challengers in the National League South.

At the other end, already relegated W*ymouth drew 0-0 with Maidstone.

Will Buse was back in goal for the Terras.

Into the regional divisions and we start with news of another goal for Jacob Shore.

He got Wellington’s second in a 2-0 win over St Blazey.

Sherborne Town drew 0-0 with Fareham Town; Jaydon Biss, Corey Koerner and Ollie Hughes all involved for the Zebras.

Down at Bridport, George Geraghty and Sol Padmore both started in their 4-1 away win at Crediton Utd.

Shaftesbury put seven past Helston AFC with the youngster Moss Jackson-Collis, a product of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust system, just 16 years young, coming off the bench to help himself one..

Late heartbreak for the Glovers on Saturday, but it didn’t go well for our loan watch sides in the National League South either.

Will Buse was not able to save his W*ymouth side from being officially relegated out of the National League South. The ‘keeper has been on the bench in recent games and their 4-1 defeat to Eastbourne means they’ll be in the Southern League next year.

Jordan Thomas was a late substitute for Torquay, but their title challenge took a dent when they conceded twice in the second half to lose at home to Chesham.

The result leaves them fifth in the table, but incredibly, still just three points off the top

Into the regional divisions, and Sherborne’s game against Cowes Sports was called off because of Ferry crossing problems, the perils of playing sides from the Isle of Wight!

But Wellington did play, they drew 1-1 with Saltash and Jacob Shore backed up a solid midweek 90 minutes with a Man of the Match performance on Saturday.

No game for Bridport, so they, like Sherborne will have to wait for another day.

Late goals at Huish Park and a fair few goals in the games involving our loanees out and about.

Firstly, no Will Buse for that lot down by the seaside, they beat Slough to keep their slim hopes of staying up alive.

At the other end of the table, Torquay left it late to grab all three points in a 1-0 win over Aveley. The result relegated the part-timers, but kept the Gulls right in the mix at the top.

Jordan Thomas was on for the final ten minutes

Right, into the lower leagues and we start with a goal for young defender Jacob Shore, he got the third for Wellington in a 3-1 win over Welton Rovers.

Can I be honest with you? I’m starting to lose track of how many Young Glovers are in the Sherborne ranks these days, across their first and reserve teams, there are a lot,.

Looking at the image below, I see a Corey Koerner, Jaydon Biss, Blake Watts, Joe Crisp, Morgan Alexander, Ollie Hughes and Josh Haskett.

They lost 2-0 to AFC Stoneham, but that’s an incredible effort.

A reminder that Sherborne are offering YTFC season ticket holders £5 entry into their game on Saturday 5th April as the Glovers are away at Altrincham.

Non League Day across the lower leagues up and down the land has been the end to a busy week for the Yeovil Town loanees.

… that is apart from Jordan Thomas, who had a watching brief from the bench as Torquay secured a 1-0 win over Bath City in front of over 5,000 people at Plainmoor.

Will Buse couldn’t do anything about a single Chippenham penalty as his W*ymouth side lost 1-0, the Terras sit 13 points adrift of safety in 23rd.

No Corey Koerner for Sherborne, he was busy making his Senior Men’s Professional Debut (not a bad Saturday!), but The Zebras have still been more than accommodating recently,

In midweek, a young Zebras side including FIVE young YTFC Players (including Blake Watts and Koerner) got a 3-0 win over Fareham Town, on Saturday, Jaydon Biss, Joe Crisp and Morgan Alexander were all in the mix again,

Morgan Alexander scored from the bench scoring in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Millbrook.

Jacob Shore picked up 90 minutes twice this week for AFC Wellington, in a 1-1 draw in midweek and a 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

Both George Geraghty and Sol Padmore were in the squad for Bridport as they won 3-2 over Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police FC (catchy name, that)

Another Saturday rolls around and another chance to catch up on how our loanees are getting on out and about.

We start, as we always do, in the National League South.

Will Buse was in goal for W*ymouth as they pulled off an almighty shock beating promotion-chasing Boreham Wood 2-1. The seagull botherers remaining 13 points adrift of safety from relegation, but credit where it’s due for that result.

Torquay United also won. They picked up huge three points in the promotion race with an 1-0 win away at promotion rivals Dorking Wanderers. Full-back Jordan Thomas played the final five or so minutes, replacing former Glover Jay Foulston.

Now to our headline game, Sherborne Town picked up a 2-0 win over United Sports Portsmouth FC in the Wessex League Premier Division.

Glovers’ defender Corey Koerner, who has featured on the substitutes’ bench for the first-team recently, scored the decisive second, but we should also mention the three other members of the young YTFC cohort also going well for the Zebras.

Jaydon Biss is a regular in their starting line up at the moment and is a first year Yeovil youngster, Joe Crisp was also used from the bench with Morgan Alexander also a familiar name on their substitutes bench.

Now, down at Shaftesbury, there’s a 16-year old by the name of Moss Jackson, who is currently attached to our youth set-up, he scored his first Southern League Division One South goal today in a 5-2 win over Westbury.

Bridport just keep on winning, George Geraghty was once again with them, Sol Padmore has been missing the last few games due to suspension.

Wellington lost 6-1 to high flying Portishead Town, Jacob Shore was on the bench and used towards the end with the game already long gone, he did play the full 90 in a 4-3 win midweek over Oldland Abbotonians, though.

A defeat on the road for the Glovers’ first team on Saturday afternoon, but the lads out and about on loan had a slightly better time of things, for the most part anyway.

Torquay now have an eight-point buffer on 8th placed side Weston-super-Mare after a tough 1-0 win over Tonbridge Angels.

They did so thanks to Jordan Young’s 10th goal of the season, with Jordan Thomas playing the full 90 for the gulls.

At the other end of the table, Not-quite-as-bad-as-Aveley… or to give them their full title, W*ymouth – needed a 95th minute equaliser against St Albans. Will Buse was once again between the sticks.

The Terras remain a full 10-points behind 20th placed Enfield Town.

Into the regional leagues and Jacob Shore was back in action for Wellington, they got beaten 4-0 by the league leaders Portishead in midweek and fell 2-1 to Brislington on Saturday, Shore played in both games, clocking up over 150 minutes across the two fixtures.

Jacob Shore

Sherborne lost 3-1 to Baffins Milton Rovers, Joe Crisp was on the bench for the Zebras, who were without Corey Koerner this week as he was away on international duty with England Colleges.

Sherborne Reserves drew 3-3 with Blanford Utd, whilst team news is hard to come by, the Zebras normally include a couple of young Glovers.

There were late goals for Bridport as they beat Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police (catchy name!) 3-1. George Geraghty was used from the bench.

The National League wasn’t short of goals this past Saturday and it wasn’t just the Glovers’ first team who ended up as a stalemate.

Jordan Thomas was in the starting line up for Torquay United, who went 2-0 up and were leading beyond the 80th minute, before two late goals dragged Boreham Wood back into the game to share the points in a big game at the top of the National League South.

W*ymouth, with Will Buse between the sticks, must have thought they were in for a vital three points at the other end of the table when Malachi Linton put them 2-1 up against Hornchurch, but in the end, Linton was needed to salvage a point late on – 3-3 on the day.

Corey Koerner was on the Glovers bench, so wasn’t involved for Sherborne, however Joe Crisp was on their bench, Jacob Shore was unavailable for Wellington.

George Geraghty scored from the bench for Bridport as they walloped Torrington 6-0.

Normally, these are quite formulaic; Torquay won, W*ymouth lost… see you next week.

But not this time, this Loan Watch is flipped on it’s head.

As the title suggests, our seagull bothering friends – with Will Buse in goal – overcame Aveley by a 4-1 scoreline in the game between 24th and 23rd in the NLS.

Three of the scorers were ex-Glovers with Linton, Goodship and Genesini all bagging.

Whilst Torquay actually fell at the hands of Chelmsford and lost a little ground in the race for the Top Spots.

Jordan Thomas played the full 90, and despite a Matt Jay goal from the half way line, the Gulls lost 3-2 despite leading 2-1 in the 85th minute!

Sherborne had both their first team and reserve games called off, but with Corey Koerer representing England Colleges on Friday, it was unlikely he would have played.

Wellington was waterlogged so no game for Jacob Shore, but Bridport did get a game in, they lost 1-0 against Bishop’s Lydeard.

Sol Padmore and George Geraghty were both used from the bench.

With another poor weather weekend, there will be plenty of midweek games coming up for local sides and maybe a few YTFC youngsters getting some game time in.

Let’s distract ourselves from the game at Huish Park for a moment and take a check in on those of a Green and White persuasion who are out and about on loan.

There wasn’t much to talk about with pretty much only our two loanees in the division below getting game time.

Firstly, Torquay closed the gap on Dorking at the top of the National League South table with a win over Hornchurch.

Jordan Thomas clocked up another 90 minutes and nearly scored for the Gulls.

At the other end of the table, W*ymouth remain rooted to the bottom, they lost 3-0 to Farnborough, Will Buse made an error for the first  goal, whilst Brandon Goodship missed a penalty… (you’re thinking about Grant Smith’s hips again, aren’t you?)

Sherborne, Wellington and Bridport games were all called off. So there was limited action for the Under 18s this weekend.
