Yeovil Town host Gateshead this coming Saturday lunchtime and the official for the fixture is one who has refereed more Gateshead games than any other team.
Richard Aspinall, has, until now been a fairly northern- based referee with Gateshead (12) and York City (11) his most frequent sides to look after.
The Glovers had him as the man in the middle twice last season, both on long away days.
He took charge of the 3-2 defeat away at Halifax, where he awarded Yeovil a penalty, calmly slotted home by Junior Morias and the 1-0 defeat at Scunthorpe. He was also on the whistle for Gateshead’s 3-0 Boxing Day defeat to Carlisle.
In total, his National League 2025/26 stats read; Games 9, Bookings 32, Red Cards 0 and Five penalties awarded.
In fact, across five different competitions, and 31 games, the red card only came out of his pocket once, for Josh Maskall of Stoke U21s.
This match represents his first appointment of the new season.
He will be assisted by Peter Lowe, Jake Hillier and Bailey Walker will be looking after the dugouts.
