Glovers Exit Adobe Women’s FA Cup

Yeovil Town Women tasted defeat in the first round proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, as higher level side Cheltenham Town beat them 7-0.
Despite the Glovers’ exit from the competition, their path to the first round was one to be proud of. Two penalty shootout victories in previous rounds against Pucklechurch and high level side Southampton ensured that Yeovil would face “a strong stable National League side”, as manager Paul Knight described them.

Yeovil’s first set back of the day arrived in the 18 th minute as club captain Jess Hodge was stretchered off due to injury, we wish her well in her recovery.

Cheltenham went up a gear shortly after this and scored three goals in the space of twenty minutes, to go in at the break three to the good.

In a second half in which the Glovers kept the hosts out for a valiant 23 minutes, Cheltenham made it four in the 68th minute and proceeded to add three more to make it a convincing victory and book their place in the second round.

The tie finished 7-0 with Yeovil Town Women’s underdog FA Cup story coming to an end, they can reflect on their FA cup involvement this season with pride.
