Under 18s (Page 7)

The weekend’s bad weather has led to the postponement of almost every youth team match.

Yeovil Town Under-18s match at Bath City in the South West Counties Youth League was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Only the Under-13s representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust are in action when they travel to the Mid-Somerset Regional Talent Centre in the Junior Premier League Under-13s Knock-Out Cup.

The fixtures for the Trust’s Under-11s, Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s have all fallen foul to the weather.

Yeovil Town Under-18s Head Coach Mark Challen has confirmed via social media that he has departed the club.

Writing on Instagram via his coaching company’s account “M1 Coaching” he confirmed that Wednesday was his final day.

He wrote; “Sadly, today (Wednesday) was my last game at Yeovil Town FC.”

He thanked all those who had made his time at Yeovil special during a nine-year stint with the club.

At time of writing, there has been no confirmation as to who will take over the running of the Under-18s.

First- team squad members Toby Stephens and Ollie Haste have both represented Challen’s side this season with Alfie Lloyd, who departed the Under-18s for QPR last season among those who thanked their coach in the comments.

Yeovil Town Under-18s went down to a 3-0 defeat at Bridgwater United in the Gary Else League Cup on Saturday.

The young Glovers conceded three times in the last 20 minutes  at the Bridgwater & Taunton College Sports Zone against the leaders of the South West Counties Youth League.

The result means they finish second in their competition group and face the winners of the other group which is down to the under-18s sides of either Torquay United or Wimborne Town on January 8.

Yeovil are back in league action at the Alvington Playing Fields against Swindon Supermarine Under-18s next Saturday (10:30am kick-off).

A hat-trick from Joshua John saw Yeovil Town Under-18s pick up a second win in the Gary Else Cup on Saturday.

Benjani Junior got the other goal for the young Glovers in a 4-1 win over New College Swindon (Academy) Under-18s at the Alvington playing fields.

The Gary Else Cup is the cup competition of the South West Counties’ Youth League which the Under-18s compete in.

The competition is named in memory of a former member of the league committee who died in 2012.

It was an unbeaten weekend of Junior Premier League action for the youth sides representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust this weekend.

The Under 11s were held to a draw at home to Cheltenham Town with the Under-12s winning away at Bridgwater United.

The Trust’s Under-13s, Under-14s and Under-16s sides all picked up wins over the South Somerset Regional Talent Centre, which bizarrely list Huish Park as one of their training centre.

We say bizarrely because the centre also advertises that a number of local Football League clubs scout their matches/training– let’s hope they weren’t there this weekend and the lads from the Trust stay in green and white.

Yeovil Town Under-18s also returned to action going down 1-0 at home to Torquay United in the South West Counties Youth League.

It was the young Glovers’ first match for a fortnight following a postponement last weekend, although a number of players did feature for the first team in the Somerset Premier Cup win at Larkhall Athletic in the week.

Yeovil Town Under-18s play their first South West Counties Youth League match in a fortnight.

The young Glovers host Torquay United Under-18s in the Alvington Playing Fields on Saturday morning.

Their home game with Bath City Under-18s last weekend was postponed.

Five age groups representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust are also in action in the Junior Premier League this weekend.

The Under-11s, Under-14s and Under-16s will host Cheltenham Town and South Somerset in their respective age groups, whilst the Under-12s and Under-13s travel to Bridgwater United and South Somerset respectively.

With both the Yeovil Town Under-18s and the Under-16s side not having a fixture, the two teams played a friendly at Huish Park on Saturday.

The match pitted the Trust’s Junior Premier League side against players in the Elite Player Development Programme (EPDP), effectively trialling for the Under-18s.

The match followed a week of trials held as part of the programme at the club.

The EPDP is run together with Yeovil College and offers Year 12 and 13 BTEC students play football whilst remaining in full-time education.

The Under-11s, Under-12s and Under-13s representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust are all in Junior Premier League action on Saturday.

The under-11s travel to Yate Town (the YTFC-YTCST Derby?) with the under-12s at North Somerset Regional Talent Centre and the under-13s at home to Juventus Devon.

Yeovil Town Under-18s moved up to third place in the South West Counties Youth League after a 4-0 win at Paulton Rovers.

Benjani Junior, Pedro Borges, Jake Graziano and Ollie Haste were on target for the young Glovers.

The Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust’s under-13s side picked up a win in the Junior Premier League this weekend.

The Trust’s under-11s and under-15s drew their fixtures.

Yeovil Town Under-18s were without a league fixture and instead played a friendly match at AFC Bournemouth Academy.

The Championship side’s youngsters came out the winners but we are not sure what the final score was.
