Ollie Haste (Page 5)

Another Saturday that was threatened by snow and cancellations, but actually, quite a few Glovers got some game time out on loan.

Scunthorpe United didn’t play, so Ben Richards-Everton wasn’t involved, but here’s how the rest got on.

Starting in Oxford, Will Dawes was credited with an assist and nominated for their social media man of the match as his Oxford City sidd thrashed Hemel Hempstead 3-0.

Down at Truro, the result didn’t go the White Tigers way as they lost away at Merthyr Town. Ollie Haste played nearly 80 minutes.

The other Ollie, Ollie Hulbert started for Leamington as they drew 0-0 with Chester to continue their recent upturn of results.

The YTFC academy was also well represented in the area, goalkeeper Rob Hollard and Sam Hodges were on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat as part of the Gillingham Town squad.

At Sherborne, Benjani started and Jake Graziano was used from bench as they overcame Cadbury Heath 2-1.

And finally, as the headline suggests, our main point is a debut goal for Charlie Bateson at Tiverton Town.

He was introduced from the bench with ten minutes remaining, got a couple of shots off and was credited with the equaliser in a 2-2 against Hendon.

Great work, Charlie.

It’s time for another world famous (thanks for the shout out, Sheridan) edition of the Gloverscast Loan Watch and another goal-scorer to tell you about… more on that in a minute.

Scunthorpe United picked up a big win at the bottom of the National League beating Altrincham 2-0, Ben Richards-Everton picking up the clean sheet.

In National League North, Leamington made it back to back wins, Ted Cann, Sam Perry (there’s a couple of names for you) impressed alongside Ollie Hulbert, the Glovers’ loanee played 77 minutes as the Brakes beat Brackley Town 2-1.

Now to the scorer, Will Dawes, bagged a big goal for Oxford City in his first start for them, the game ended 2-2 against Braintree Town.

nbsp;

Gillingham Town went down 5-2 against table topping Brislington… team news for the Gills appears hard to come by, we assume both Rob Hollard and Sam Hodges were involved in some way shape or form.

No game for Sherborne, they play on Wednesday against Clevedon.

Striker Charlie Bateson was named on the substitutes’ bench for Tiverton Town’s trip to Harrow Borough.

Toby Stephens (again) wasn’t in the Plymouth Parkway squad, but his side did pick up a big 2-0 win at home to Gosport Borough, whilst Truro City had a rare vacant midweek giving Ollie Haste some more time to watch his first ever senior goal on loop a few more times from the weekend.

Who says Yeovil have problems in front of goal?

Not one, not two but THREE Yeovil players were on the score sheet on Saturday as we wrap up the the loan watch action.

We start at the highest level though with Ben Richards-Everton playing the full 90 minutes as Scunthorpe went down 1-0 to Eastleigh, former Glovers Michael Kelly, Alfie Lloyd, Aaron Martin, Christian Maghoma and Jake Scrimshaw lined up for the Spitfires.

Will Dawes made his debut for Oxford City as a second half substitute as the fell to a defeat at the hands of Farnborough.

Truro left it late to grab all three points in their game against Hayes and Heading.

Our very own Ollie Haste with the late goal! You can watch it… here

To Leamington we go, where there was another Glovers goal getter, Ollie Hulbert got his first for the Brakes in a convincing 4-1 win.

Let’s have another one shall we?

Sherborne Town picked up a valuable point, who scored their goal in a 1-1 draw? That’s right, our man Benjani Jr.

Jake Graziano also played the full 90.

To Gillingham Town where they picked up a huge 3-2 win of their own with a couple of Young Glovers on show, Rob Hollard pulled off some decent saves in goal whilst Sam Hodges was introduced from the bench.

There was no sign of either Toby Stephens (Plymouth Parkway) or Charlie Bateson (Tiverton Town) in their match day squads.

Whilst Yeovil Town were salvaging a point against Altrincham and ‘stewardships’ were a changin’ at Huish Park, let’s not forget our loanees were out and about doing their thing.

We start at the bottom of the National League with Scunthorpe United, Ben Richards-Everton played the full 90 minutes as the Iron drew 1-1 with fellow strugglers Maidstone.

Elsewhere, Ollie Hulbert was in the starting eleven for Leamington, they drew 2-2 with Banbury.

Ollie Haste was part of the Truro side that came from behind to best Chesham United, the Glovers’ loanee played 78 minutes.

To Sherbone we go, Benjani Jnr and Jake Graziano both started for the Zebras, but Barnstaple Town came through to pick up the win.

Plymouth Parkway played, but Toby Stephens didn’t. Gillingham didn’t have a game so Rob Hollard and Sam Hodges will wait for another day, whilst Tiverton’s game against North Leigh had six goals, three red cards but no Charlie Bateson.

Here’s little mini round up of the Tuesday night Glovers loanee action.

BR-E couldn’t back up his MOTM debut for Scunthorpe, his side were undone by two Paul ‘”Tom Daley” Mullin goals at Wrexham.

Leamington picked up a big away point at Telford to extend their unbeaten run, Ollie Hulbert played 86 minutes in the 1-1 draw.

Truro suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Poole Town, Ollie Haste was an unused substitute.

None of Gillingham, Tiverton or Sherborne had a game on Tuesday, with their respective loanees expected to be part of the Yeovil youth squad in the National League Cup on Wednesday.

Another week another Loan Watch and there’s finally some good news to talk about.

We start in Scunthorpe where Ben Richards-Everton scored and was awarded Man of the Match on his debut for the Iron as they won 3-2 against Dagenham to move within four points of safety in the National League

Elsewhere, there was a first win in over 100 days for Leamington and Ollie Hulbert, Hulbert might not have scored but he played the full match as former Glover Ted Cann saved a penalty with two late goals ensuring a win over Darlington.

On to Truro, where Ollie Haste played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Hartley Witney.

Gillingham Town also picked up a 1-0 win. Their game against Hallen FC was decided on the hour with both Rob Hollard and Sam Hodges involved, the win means Hollard keeps a well earned clean sheet, with Hodges praised for his relentless work and ball retention after coming off the bench.

Charlie Bateson was on the bench for Tiverton, but to our knowledge didn’t make the pitch in a tightly contest game against Chesham. Tivvy winning 2-1 with their keeper saving a 96th minute penalty!

Finally, Toby Stephens wasn’t in the Plymouth Parkway squad, whilst Sherborne didn’t have a game.

That didn’t stop Benjani and Jake Graziano though, they were both on the scoresheet for the Glovers Under 18s in a 3-2 victory.

It wasn’t a good night for Yeovil as the Glovers crashed out of the Somerset Men’s Premier Cup at the hands of Paulton Rovers, however a record was broken on the night.

Ollie Haste became the youngest player in history to lead Yeovil Town out in a men’s first team fixture as captain.

The youngster, at just 18 years and 10 months old broke the record held by goalkeeper Nathan Baxter back in 2019 when he was named skipper for a game in League Two at the age of a little over 20.

Our very own historical oracle, Nigel Dyson failed to find any younger captains, neither could we… so we are calling it a new record.

Huge congratulations to Ollie, and his family, for this brilliant achievement.

Another Saturday in the books for the Glovers out on loan and a familiar theme is starting to unfold with results not going the way of their adopted sides.

Still, plenty of match day minutes to talk about…

Let’s start at Leamington where striker Ollie Hulbert played the full 90 in a 3-1 defeat at Bradford (Park Avenue), his side were reduced to ten men just before the hour mark and couldn’t recover. Sam Perry and Ted Cann, both formerly on the books at Yeovil, were also in the Leamington side.

To those who missed out, Ollie Haste was back on the Truro bench after his successful return to the Glovers’ Under-18s side in the National League Cup in midweek, but it was the bench where he stayed as Paul Wotton’s men picked up a 1-0 away win at Gosport Borough. The White Tigers are second in the Southern League Premier Division table, two points behind Weston-super-Mare.

Will Dawes didn’t play for that Claret and Blue lot either. He was, once again, one of the unlucky extra loanees with only five named in the match day squad… W*ymouth lost 2-1 at Hemel Hempstead (maybe try picking your Green and White striker next time, just saying). The seagull bothering lot remain second from bottom of the National League South table.

Sherborne Town were without a fixture, so Benjani Junior and Jake Graziano were both left thumb twiddling this Saturday afternoon. Both played for the Yeovil Under-18s in midweek with Benji on the scoresheet.

However, goalkeeper Rob Hollard and Sam Hodges were both back in the Gillingham side, but ended up on the wrong side of a 4-1 loss away at Bristol Telephones.

Finally, Toby Stephens clocked up an hour for Plymouth Parkway as they drew 0-0 with Hartley Whitney.

Most of these sides have games this coming Tuesday, but with Yeovil in Somerset Men’s Premier Cup action at Paulton Rovers on Tuesday night, it remains to be seen how many of the dual registration lads are with their parent club rather than the first team.

You’ve just got over the 90th minute Huish Park equaliser heartbreak and you’re thinking to yourself: “I wonder how our loan lads got on?”

Well, don’t worry, I’ve got you. Let’s find out.

We’re starting at Plymouth Parkway where Toby Stephens was a half-time introduction for his side as Parkway pulled off a cracking 1-0 win at Salisbury. He replaced a former Glovers’ loanee, striker Ben Seymour, at the interval.

Over at Truro, more splinters in the backside for Ollie Haste, who was an unused substitute for Paul Wotton’s side.

The White Tigers thrashed Yate Town 4-0.

Off to the Bob Lucas where the Seagull Botherers picked up a big win at the bottom of the National League South over Dulwich Hamlet but Will Dawes was not named in the match day squad.

Dawes’ initial month on loan still has a couple of weeks left, but Terras’ manager Bobby Wilkinson (the one who hates Yeovil, but is happy to take our cast offs) said Dawes had fallen foul to the five loanee limit.

W*ymouth moved up a place to third from bottom of the table, but are still in the relegation zone with teams around them having games in hand.

To Leamington where Ollie Hulbert played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 defeat to Blyth Spartans in National League North.

The Brakes were reduced to 10 men shortly before half time with the resulting penalty the only thing between the two sides in the end. They are now two points off the relegation places.

At Sherborne, the result went against the Zebras, going down 3-1 against Saltash United, midfielder Jake Graziano was in the starting line-up, but Benjani Junior was not named in the squad.

We wrap up at Gillingham where once again goalkeeper Rob Hollard and Sam Hodges were in the Gills’ starting line-up but FC Bristol proved too strong winning 2-0.

Plenty more matches to come for the Glovers on loan as the weeks progress.

Mother Nature has finally relented in her quest for an unofficial winter break in the British football calendar and that means it’s time for another Loan Watch.

Sadly, results didn’t go quite to plan for the cohort of Yeovil Town players plying their trade elsewhere.

Let’s start with the two that didn’t play:

Ollie Haste was an unused substitute as his Truro City side won 1-0 a huge top-of- the-table clash in the Southern League Premier Division South at leaders Weston-super-Mare, who included a certain Reuben Reid in their line-up. That result moves Paul Wootton’s side to within one point of the table toppers.

In the same division midfielder Toby Stephens also had a watching brief as Plymouth Parkway pulled off a shock with a 4-0 home win over fifth-placed Poole Town. Despite the win, Stephens’ loan club remain in the relegation zone.

On to to those who did get some game time, striker Ollie Hulbert made his long-awaited Leamington debut, having joined the National League North side a fortnight ago – but sadly his side were on the wrong end of the result against second-placed King’s Lynn Town.

Hulbert had chances to find the net, but an inspired goalkeeper in the Linnets net kept him and his side at bay.

Onto our seaside ‘friends’, who also lost, W*ymouth were 2-0 down before they brought on Will Dawes at half-time against second placed Oxford City. The game ended with a 3-1 defeat for the seagull botherers who remain second-from-bottom of the table.

To North Dorset, where there was finally some match action for young goalkeeper Rob Hollard as well as Sam Hodges having arrived at Western League Division One side Gillingham Town. Hollard started in goal, Hodges was used from bench. The Gills went down 3-1 against Bishops Lydeard.

Finally, at Sherborne where the Zebras were on the wrong end of a 90th minute penalty, Barnstaple Town winning 1-0.
Both Benjani Junior and Jake Graziano were in the Sherborne starting line up.

Let’s hope for some better results… as well as more match time for the Glovers’ loanees in midweek.
