Ollie Haste (Page 3)

A midweek loan watch, you say? Go on then!

Will Buse joined Bath City on Tuesday morning and was promptly thrown straight into a huge clash at the top of the National League South table and his sheet remained clean as a whistle with the Romans coming out 3-0 winners against Taunton Town.

Shepton Mallet were in Les Phillips Cup action against Hengrove Athletic.
Charlie Bateson was on the bench to start with but was introduced into the game shortly after the hour mark, Mallet winning 2-1.

Over at Dorchester, the Magpies went down 2-1 against Sholing. Ollie Haste played the full 90 minutes and nearly scored (another) last minute goal. Benjani Jr was not named in the match day squad.

There were no games for Sherborne or Tiverton with messrs Skiverton and Williams having the night off, Gillingham Town’s game against Bitton AFC was called off with a waterlogged pitch so none of the four young Glovers with the Gills got any game time this evening.

Loan watch is getting busier by the minute these days!

Let’s have a wrap up of where we stand.
Firstly, still no Malachi Linton for Taunton as he continues to recover from injury – he’s a regular appearance maker in YTFC’s training clips on HP Source, so he must be close.

Right, off to Sherborne Town, the Zebras went down 3-0 at home to AFC Stoneham (remember them?). Aidan Skiverton was named amongst the substitutes – evidence is light as to whether or not he came on.

Over at Tiverton, Lewis Williams was in goal as Tivvy gave up a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1, the equaliser described as “too good for probably any goalkeeper”, so we’ll probably let him off that one.

How about Dorchester? Well, they fell foul to a 90th minute Hendon winner to fall 1-0.

Ollie Haste was in the line up from the start, it appears Benjani Jr was an unused sub.

Charlie Bateson played 75 minutes for Shepton Mallet in a 1-1 draw against Buckland Athletic

A new addition to Loan Watch now as we pop to Gillingham, where we have quite a lot of involvement.

The Gills won 5-0 against Keynsham Town (remember them?) and a couple of the Young Glovers starred.

Josh Haskett scored twice, Jack Bareham bagged a header. Fin “brother of” Haste also made an appearance from the bench as did Harry Lock

Jack Bareham (9) scores for Gillingham – Pic Mark Gourlay

Bareham was taken off at Half Time with a slight knock, whilst Josh was awarded half of a MOTM – shared with Josh Josey.

This appears to be a fairly new renewal of the relationship with the Gills although Josh has been with the team a little while and had already found the net before yesterday’s game.

Good work, all.

Another loan watch round up incoming, Saturday saw a couple of Glovers in action, but we actually want to start in midweek.

Ollie Haste was a last minute hero for Dorchester as he bagged a 97th minute equaliser at Gosport Borough on Wednesday night, sparking wild scenes and some awesome photos – Benjani Jr was an unused sub in the game, just 24 hours after playing, and scoring for the Glovers in the SMPC.

On to Saturday’s action and we start with yet ANOTHER goal for Charlie Bateson.

Shepton Mallet were away at top of the table Falmouth and three first half goals did the damage in a 3-1 win it was Bateson’s opener that got the ball rolling.

Next up, Aidan Skiverton marked his debut for Sherborne Town with a goal, young Skivo scored the Zebra’s first of the game to get back on level terms against Baffins Milton Rovers, but BMRFC fought back to win 3-2.

Finally, Lewis Williams clocked up 90 more minutes for Tiverton, but was left frustrated after his side let slip a 2-0 lead against Walton and Hersham to draw 2-2.

Three Glovers loanees were in FA Trophy Qualifying action on Saturday, but all were on the losing side.

We start at Dorchester where Ollie Haste played the full 90 minutes in a 3-1 defeat to Merthyr Town, Benjani Jr was brought on as an 87th minute substitute, with the game already taken away from the Magpies.

Over at Tiverton, goalkeeper Lewis Williams could do little about his side’s misfortunes against Swindon Supermarine, again, a 3-1 loss for the Yellow Army.

As a note, as per FA Challenge Trophy Rule 15, subsection (e) – which reads as below – all three are cup tied and cannot represent the Glovers later in the competition.

15. PROVISIONS CONCERNING PLAYERS
(e) A player shall not play for more than one Club in the Competition in the same season.

On a slighty better note, goal machine Charlie Bateson was back with Shepton Mallet and very nearly back among the goals, they ran out 3-1 winners against Saltash.

Let’s have a little whip round the Glovers’ loanees shall we?

We start at Dorchester who continued their decent patch of form with a third win in four games, they beat Didcot Town (?) 3-1 with Ollie Haste playing the full 90. Benjani Jr was brought on late in the second half for one of the Magpies’ goal scorers – former Glover – Jordan Barnett.

A strange one for Charlie Bateson, he was named in the starting line up for Shepton Mallet, but was replaced after a slight injury in the warm up, so took no part.

Mallet lost 2-1 to Barnstaple but did have to play over half the game with an outfielder player in goal… and with only ten men.

Lewis Williams was in goal for Tiverton as they lost 4-2 against Hendon – there’s little to suggest he could have done much about any of the Hendon goals.

It’s a little bit of a quieter Loan Watch this midweek.

Firstly an injury update on Malachi Linton and it’s good news! The forward – currently on loan at Taunton – is back in light training after nursing what had been feared to be quite a serious injury.

But, the Gloverscast understands that after seeing multiple specialists, the injury is hoped to not be as bad as first feared and he could be back in action for the Peacocks in around six weeks time.

Those of you with eagle eyes may have spotted him in a the Pre-FA Cup edition of HP Source on Social Media.

Malachi Linton back in training ? HP Source

Right,

Tiverton – no game, out of the FA Cup, so Lewis Williams was back with the Glovers helping warm up the goalkeepers.

Dorchester – No game, they did play midweek, drew with Hungerford, Ollie Haste wasn’t in the squad, Benjani Jr an unused sub.

But, down at Shepton, we’ve got a striker in form to keep an eye on.

Charlie Bateson, already named Mallet’s Player of the Month for August, was back for his side to today, and back in the goals too.

He bagged one and assisted the other as the Mallet drew 2-2 with Barnstaple Town.

Cannot stop scoring!

As the sun shone down on local football on Saturday, the fortune of our loanees wasn’t quite so beaming.

Let’s start at Tiverton Town, where goalkeeper Lewis Williams found himself picking the ball out of his net three times as his side lost 3-0 away at Bracknell Town.

It didn’t get much better at Shepton Mallet, either who lost 5-1 at home to Helston AFC in the Western League Premier Division.

Charlie Bateson did get the goal for the Mallet, a 42nd minute free kick curled expertly into the far corner.

But… having been reduced to 10 men in the 3rd minute with the Goalkeeper sent off, it was always going to be difficult. They also had forward Jake Sloggett taken off with a suspected fractured arm… when it rains… it pours… well, metaphorically.

Finally down at Dorchester Town, they did get a vital three points.

A 2-1 win over Swindon Supermarine.

Defender Ollie Haste played the full 90 as the Magpies came from behind for the win. Glovers‘ striker Benjani Junior was an unused sub.

Let’s get stuck into an FA Cup edition of loan watch, although without wishing to give away any spoilers… it might be the last one of the season.

Before we get stuck into that, we have an update on Malachi Linton.

Linton hasn’t been seen in the Taunton squad since playing away at Aveley on the 12th of August – a game he actually scored in.

The Gloverscast has learned that Mal suffered a knee injury which has required more than one specialist’s attention. It remains to be seen if anything more serious is required, but we understand the front man is expecting to be missing for a while yet. Get well soon, Mal.

Right, onto the football.

At Tiverton, the yellows lost in the FA Cup to Wimborne Town. The goal, devastatingly coming in the very last minute. Lewis Williams played in goal, whilst Jacob Shore was back with the Glovers’ Under 18s, his loan spell has come to an end.

Dorchester are also out of the FA Cup, Plymouth Parkway getting the better of the Magpies 2-0.

Ollie Haste played the full 90 minutes, Benjani Jr was introduced from the bench with 15 minutes to go.

Away from the cup, Charlie Bateson was on the score sheet for Shepton Mallet in a 4-0 win over Millbrook. Good work, Charlie!

Bank Holiday Monday gives us another chance to chat about the loanees out and about in the non-league relm.

Firstly, still no Malachi Linton for Taunton.

Over at Dorchester, Ollie Haste was back among the substitutes, he was brought on in the latter stages of the second half, whilst Benjani Jr was an unused sub in a 2-1 away win over Poole – former YTFC man Jordan Barnett with a late winner.

Down at Tiverton, Jacob Shore was finally given some minutes from the start, he, along with Glovers’ ‘keeper Lewis Williams played their parts in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Plymouth Parkway. Parkway were 2-0 up, but with just nine men going into second half stoppage time, before Tivvy levelled it up in dramatic fashion.

At Shepton Mallet, they – and thus Charlie Bateson – are in action on Tuesday night rather than on Monday afternoon, they host Nailsea and Tickenham.

A new loanee to add to the Loan Watch ranks let’s have a round up of the Glovers who are plying their trade elsewhere.

We start with Tiverton where Lewis Williams made his second debut for Tiverton Town, it was a cracking game too as Tivvy picked up a 3-2 win the dying moments, we’re reliably informed the keeper looked ‘comfortable and commanded his area, distribution was good too’.

Lovely stuff, Jacob Shore, the young Glovers defender was an unused sub in the same game.

To Dorchester, where Ollie Haste was missing again for the Magpies, it has been reported by the Dorset Echo that he is currently back at Huish Park nursing an injury which has been described as making him a “big miss” for his loan club.

Benjani Jr is still there, he played 61 minutes in a 2-0 home defeat to Chesham United.

Malachi Linton was once again missing from the Taunton squad, there’s been no official confirmation on his absence other than to say it’s simply due to ‘injury’ – we’ve asked some questions to find out what’s up.

… and finally, Charlie Bateson had a cracker of a game at Shepton Mallet, with an assist to his name, and nearly a goal of his own as he hit the post in a 2-2 draw with Brixham AFC.
