Supporters Alliance Group issue further statement YTFC takeover
The Supporters Alliance Group have issued the below statement following a meeting today.
Following a meeting of the Supporters Alliance Group on Wednesday 20th October 2021, a private meeting involving the representatives of the Green & White’s, the Disabled Supporters Group and the Glovers Trust took place. The situation regarding a possible take-over of the Club was the only topic for discussion.
Representatives of the Glovers Trust were able to advise the meeting in relation to the interested parties and the time scale of present talks.
We all appreciate that negotiations relating to such a purchase will be long and complicated and the need for commercial confidentiality is important.
We feel, however, that the longer these negotiations continue and eat into the present season, the greater the feeling of uncertainty and worry will spread across the fan base. This inevitably permeates all areas both on and off the pitch and potentially damages our Club.
We would urge all those actively engaged in this potential purchase to use their best endeavours to bring about a swift and successful conclusion to these talks. A conclusion that we fervently hope will restore pride and passion to YTFC and ensure a return to the football league and thereafter a bright future for our much loved Yeovil Town.
Five Conclusions: Weymouth 1-1 Yeovil Town (Yeovil win on pens)
Magic of the FA Cup? Maybe. Just maybe it could be ‘our year’ for a cup run after a rollercoaster match with fierce rivals Weymouth.
Here are Sheridan Robins’ five conclusions from that 1-1 (2-1) penalty shoot-out win.
The W*ymouth, Yeovil derby has been merely something which happened in our history for me, aged 30, and while no one wanted to be at the same level as them again, it is clear the bite of the tie has not been lost. The past two games have had atmospheres which have not been seen in at least five years, following relegation battles and the lack of away fans at National League level. I may be saying this because they have not beaten us in the past four matches against them – but I very much enjoy the fire in the fixture.
Sonny Blu Lo-Everton is a supremely talented footballer – and wise beyond his years. I thought this was his finest performance in green and white with relentless running combined with wonderful skill which Weymouth’s back line could not handle. He also presented himself brilliantly in his post-match interview, seeming far older than his 19 years, but also with a lovely sense of joy that he just enjoyed playing for his club out there.
Penalty shoot-outs can be low quality and exciting. It was probably a decider with one of the lowest numbers of decent penalties in history – yet it was edge of your seat stuff. Those you expected to score didn’t (Sean Shields, Tom Knowles) – and perhaps not your first choices dispatched it perfectly (Adi Yusseff, Dale Gorman). With Joe Quigley having missed in the dying seconds of extra time, too, the fact the Glovers managed to win that is quite something. I had thought we had seen the last of our penalty woes…but that is a worry for another day.
We need to watch our opponents’ substitutes. A slightly more serious one – with both of W*ymouth’s goals coming from changes from the bench through Bearwish and McQuoid respectively. There is of course the question of slight naivety from our young side to concede goals so late, but our opponents did manage to change it up both times and affect us. Substitute Yussuf – of course – won the penalty late on, but other teams in our division seem to have stronger squads to affect change – but with Lewis Simper now back in contention, that may well change in the next few weeks.
Terry Skiverton bleeds green and white. Ok, this is a cheat conclusion, as everyone knows this, but what a sight to behold to see a true Yeovil legend joining (and starting) in all the best chants with a host of young players he is helping to mould. He has been through so much with us and maybe doesn’t always get the credit he deserves. I have no doubt that Sir Terry Skiverton had a lot to do with the desire we saw on the pitch last night.
Glovers Break Non League FA Cup Record
We might have mentioned it once or twice, but Yeovil beat W*ymouth on penalties on Tuesday night…
More than just getting one over on the claret and blue lot down the A37 Yeovil Town actually broke something of an FA Cup record in the process.
It means that, as a Non-league side, Yeovil Town have reached the First Round Proper for a record 52nd time for a side outside of the top-four divisions.
So now you know…

Sonny: I’ve never played in a game like it
We at the Gloverscast are pretty sure you’ve heard, Yeovil beat W*ymouth in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round – on penalties.
After the game, Sonny Blu Lo-Everton spoke to the BBC about the topsy turvey game and the Watford loanee couldn’t quite believe what had happened.
“We’ve come to their ground and played the way we wanted to play, we’ve dominated the whole game, we’ve had more chances than them, stopped more chances than them, but the cross in the eighty-something minute (87th if anyone cares) was tough to take, and you can see the charachter of the boys to keep fighting for the extra 30 minutes and for the penalty as well”
The game ebbed and flowed, with the Glovers having, and spurning, chances, penalty claims waved away and yet more ‘was it over the line’ moments for Yeovil attackers, but after all was said and done, it was Yeovil who progressed through on spot-kicks, which led to briliant scenes between fans and players, something which the attacker says he’ll never forget.
“Just to see the fans, the atmosphere was unreal, I’ve never played in a game like it…”
“We have a ‘fight to the end’ charachter in this team… we performed well and got the result, that’s all that matters.
“You can tell that the dressing room we’re buzzing, we needed a win like this to kick back our season again as we haven’t got a result since Stockport away”
“It’s so good playing in from of them (the fans), the noise, the songs, it’s great and when you can celebrate with them like that… it’s so good!”
Yeovil Town will play either Yate Town or Dover in the First Round of the FA Cup
Glovers Wait on FA Cup Opponent
Yeovil Town secured their place in the 1st round of the FA Cup by beating W*ymouth on penalties on Tuesday night – I’m sure you’ve heard.
However, who the Glovers play hasn’t yet been decided after Yate Town and Dover couldn’t complete their own replay after floodlight failure.
The floodlights were fixed – specifically at 20:34pm (this matters) – but the game did not take place, Dover went home and will have to try again on a date yet to be confirmed – but likely, next Tuesday, 26th of October.
Yate Town were not happy releasing the following statement after the game…
“This evening we suffered a failure of two of the eight floodlight groups.
The facilities manager assisted by Jeff Michael (the manager’s dad) and Shaun Base all qualified electricians, diagnosed the problem and attempted a repair.
Both teams and the referee, in dialogue with the FA, agreed to delay KO as late as possible.
Decision points were initially set for 19:45 and 20:15 at which times the repair was ongoing.
The referee consulted with the FA, and agreed with both teams that if the floodlights could be repaired he would need to allow 30 minutes before KO for the teams and officials to warm up.
It was therefore agreed that if the floodlights could not be repaired and turned on by 20:30 the match would be postponed. At 20:34 the lights were fixed, the referee consulted with the FA to seek agreement that the match could go ahead, the FA confirmed this providing both teams were happy.
With a crowd of over 580 supporters, including some who had made the journey from Kent, the referee spoke to both teams to get agreement for the match to go ahead.
Yate were content to play, however Dover Athletic stated that it was past the 20:30 deadline and therefore they were not prepared to play.
We sincerely apologise to all supporters for the frustration they experienced this evening. We would also like to thank you all wholeheartedly for your patience and understanding and for remaining in high spirits despite the weather and the delay.
The FA direction is that the match will now have to be re-arranged, possibly later this week or next Tuesday.
We will let you all know as soon as a date is agreed. All tickets purchased this evening remain valid for the re-arranged game.”

Sarll: It was a ridiculous night

Yeovil Town Manager Darren Sarll has been speaking to BBC Somerset’s Sheridan Robins following a quite frankly bonkers night in the FA Cup.
The Glovers progressed through to the first round proper after beating W*ymouth 2-1 on penalties.

Following the game, Sarll said that he would have loved to have had the game finished off sooner, (our fingernails, would agree, Darren!)
“We didn’t take some of the chances we created in normal time and Joe (Quigley)’s penalty [in the 120th minute] was a disappointment, we could have just settled it.
Then the penalties went our way, their way, our way, their way, our way, their way – RETAKE – their way, our way, their way*… so… it’s a ridiculous night”
There was pandemonium at the end as fans and players celebrated after the full time whistle, something Sarll won’t forget in a hurry.
“It’s a wonderful experience for these young people to have, and the performance was good… we played very well tonight, the only fault I have is that we didn’t take more chances, I thought the attacking play was good.”
“It was a good one (moment with the fans at the end), I just wish it was done sooner, we could have been done and tucked up in bed, it was a really taxing evening”
Yeovil will travel to either Yate Town or Dover in the first round, and will play Grimsby away on Saturday in the league.

Match Report
Success in a contender for the worst penalty shoot-out in FA Cup history, was enough for Yeovil Town to make it through to the first round proper with victory at local rivals W*ymouth.
Having led through a first-half Matt Worthington goal, it seemed like the misery of the weekend’s injury time equaliser to force the replay was banished, until Terras’ skipper Josh McQuoid nodded home in the 87th minute.
You didn’t honestly think it was going to be that easy, did you?
Nope, after a further 30 minutes of extra time a foul on substitute Adi Yussuf saw us awarded a penalty, which top-scorer Joe Quigley (the scorer of three spot kicks this season) saw saved by keeper Ross Fitzsimons.
That meant it was spot kicks. Having seen McQuoid miss his first, Yussuf put the Glovers ahead in the shoot-out. Then, just to further test the tickers of the travelling supporters, Tyler Cordner missed the hosts’ second….only for a bottle thrown by the travelling fans to see it retaken – and Cordner scored.
That was as good as it got for W*ymouth as they failed to beat Smith with their remaining three spot kicks and Dale Gorman converted what turned out to be the winner.
That (yeah, just that!) was enough to put us through to the first round proper and a trip to either Yate Town or Dover Athletic – whose replay was abandoned due to floodlight failure.
Now where’s that Antonio Conte meme?
Having seen his side leak a 93rd minute equaliser to force the replay, Darren Sarll made two changes with loanees forward Sonny Blu Lo-Everton and defender Jack Robinson in for Ben Seymour and Tom Knowles, who both dropped to the bench.
That meant Jordan Barnett was pushed further forward with Charlie Wakefield and Lo-Everton playing as a front three alongside top-scorer Joe Quigley.
With the weather as miserable as dismal resort hosting it, chances were few and far between for either side in the opening 20 minutes.
For the visitors, Barnett fired one over and for the hosts Brad Ash had an effort easily held by Grant Smith were the only really efforts of note.
But, on the 20th minute a great bit of play Lo-Everton beat Calvin Brooks and set Charlie Wakefield free and his cross found its way to Quigley who smashed it off the crossbar.
The Terras failed to clear the danger and the ball was crossed in for Matt WORTHINGTON who headed home.

Barnett and Gorman had efforts on goal following the opener, but chances were few and far between again.
Max Cordner glanced a free header wide from Shaun Shields’ corner a minute before the break. To say Grant Smith was unhappy with his defence for allowing the free-kick would be an understatement.
But, it was Quigley who had the final chance of the first half. He latched on to Wakefield’s through ball but was denied by Ross Fitzsimons in the W*ymouth goal.

The game restarted with both sides shooting towards their respective supporters and it was Ash who had the game’s first effort firing in to the arms of Smith.
A minute later Tom Bearwish, the self-proclaimed “Weymouth legend” for his injury time equaliser at Huish Park at the weekend, sailed a volley high over the bar from a corner.
Wakefield had a couple of opportunities with the best on the 57th minute when he his effort from the edge of the box was denied by a good stop from Fitzsimons.
On the hour mark, Lo-Everton took the ball rounded the keeper but was forced wide, found Quigley whose goal-bound effort was cleared away, and seven minutes later the top-scorer had another effort blocked after good play by Barnett.
The weather conditions only continued to get worse with the wind and rain driving in from the Channel, making conditions unpredictable for both sides.
On 78 minutes, striker Ben Thomson found himself throw on goal only to be denied by a sensational tackle from captain Josh Staunton.
But with just three minutes of normal time remaining a ball in from Ollie Harfield found W*ymouth skipper Josh McQUOID at the back post and he headed another late equaliser.
It was out of nothing to be fair, but there it is. Ugh.
Yeovil substitute Adi Yussuf had an opportunity soon after, but neither side could find a winner before the final whistle.

The first half of extra time was a hard luck story for Yeovil. Six minutes in Yussuf was pulled down in the box with the visitors screaming for a penalty – well, Lawson D’Ath was certainly screaming for one on BBC Somerset.
Then with a minute of the first period remaining, Gorman’s corner was met by a flicked header from Quigley which the visitors insisted was over the line – but referee Sunny Gill (who disallowed a perfect good Reuben Reid goal in the league match down there last season) had no idea, so didn’t give it.
Half Time (in extra time): W*ymouth 1 Yeovil Town 1
The start of the second period belonged to the home side with the pressure building as they attacked their own fans.
Goodship had a shot blocked two minutes after the restart and there was a bombardment of Grant Smith’s goals from a string of corners from the hosts.
A minute from the end Goodship burst through one-on-one with Smith who pulled off a huge save to deny the former Glover.
You’d think that was the final chance, wouldn’t you? But, no, a corner and Adi Yussuf’s shot was handled in the area and referee Gill awarded the spot kick in the final minute.
Up stepped Quigley and Fitzsimons guessed the right way to deny him and the game went to….well, penalties.

Sonny Blu Lo-Everton and Jack Robinson have been brought in to the Yeovil Town starting XI for the FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay at W*ymouth tonight (7.45pm kick-off).
Sonny replaces fellow loanee Ben Seymour whilst Robinson is in for Tom Knowles with Jordan Barnett presumably playing in a more forward position on the left side.
For the home side former Glover Brandon Goodship, who was suffering with a back injury after the first game on Saturday, drops to the bench.
That lot from down the road make three changes with Taofiq Olomowewe, Ben Thomson and Tom Bearwish, whose 93rd minute equaliser earned the replace, coming in place to Josh Leslie-Smith, Josh McQuoid and Goodship.
