Dale Gorman said his Yeovil Town team-mates were “really disappointed” with their first half performance in the 1-1 draw at home to bottom side Dover Athletic on Saturday.

But, the Northern Irishman was quick to point out that seven points from the past three fixtures, including wins at high-flying Dagenham & Redbridge and Bromley, meant they were happy with their week’s work and ready for the trip to big-spending Wrexham on Tuesday night.

Gorman refused to blame the blustery conditions at Huish Park for the slow start which saw Yeovil go 1-0 down to a second minute goal from TJ Bramble.

Speaking to BBC Radio Somerset’s Sheridan Robins after the match, he said: “We as a group have expectations and as a group we were really disappointed with ourselves in the first half, but we came out of it with a point.

“That takes us a step closer to where we want to be and I think we actually moved up two places today, so you have to take some positives from it.

“We have to dust ourselves down and go again (at Wrexham) on Tuesday.

He added: “It has been a good month for us, we stay unbeaten and we are positive and we will do all the right things to get a result at Wrexham.

We will go there as underdogs, but we have gone to Stockport, Dagenham and Bromley (and got) big results, so why can’t it happen again on Tuesday night?

Darren Sarll said his Yeovil Town  side “got what we deserved” from a 1-1 draw against National League bottom club Dover Athletic at Huish Park on Saturday.

The Glovers went behind after a defensive blunder gifted TJ Bramble an opening goal after two minutes in a game affected the after-effects of Storm Arwen.

Adi Yussuf rescued a point when he touched in a Jordan Barnett free-kick after 77 minutes, but the manager said three points would have “papered over the cracks.

Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Sheridan Robins after the game, Sarll described the first half performance as “like we were in pre-season, absolute cack.”

He said: “We probably got what we deserved today. Everyone will see Dover in last place and us as a form team and the expectation is a win, but I don’t think our team is built to have the ball.

“We are built to run, chase and compete and it was like role reversal today and we struggled horrendously with that in the first half.”

He singled out his team’s senior players for criticism, in particular Josh Staunton and goalkeeper Grant Smith for their role in the visitors’ early goal.

He said: “Josh  has to do better there, he has taken a brilliant amount of credit (for his performances this season) which he deserves and he now needs to take responsibility, and Grant as well.”

Having started with a familiar 4-3-3 formation, the manager switched formation twice in the second half as his side searched for an equaliser.

Initially he reverted to a diamond before switching to three at the back in the closing 15 minutes.

Sarll said: “That is the first time this year we have played three shapes and I said to them at half-time I would keep changing it until I found an attitude I was happy with. I was happy with the attitude in the second half.”

He added: “We adjusted everyone’s attitude at half-time, not in an aggressive or destructive way, we just called them out and they were much better half.

The point moves Yeovil up to 11th place, extends the unbeaten run to eight first-team matches including the Somerset Premier Cup win at Larkhall Athletic, and means they have collected seven points in the past three matches.

The manager concluded: “We will learn from it and know how to deal with it next time, but we did not get beaten.

“We have probably overachieved this week, definitely this month and so we should not be too disappointed.”

Dale Gorman returns from suspension to replace Sonny Blu Lo-Everton in the only change for today’s match with bottom club Dover Athletic today (3pm kick-off).

The Watford loanee drops to the substitutes’ bench having appeared in the 2-1 midweek win over Bromley.

He makes up a full compliment of five substitutes having  started the previous gene with just four subs.

Yeovil Town: Smith, Moss, Barnett, Wilkinson, Hunt, Staunton, Gorman, Worthington, Knowles, Wakefield, Yussuf.

Substitutes: Evans, Bradley, Williams, Haste, Lo-Everton.

The Glovers Trust has invited Yeovil Town director Glenn Collis to speak with it about his rumoured interest in buying the club.

The statement suggests that Collis, who is one of two directors of the club alongside Chairman Scott Priestnall, has yet to take up the offer.

The Trust said: “The Glovers Trust board has, again, invited the group led by Glenn Collis to speak to us about their proposed bid for Yeovil Town FC. We have not had a response.

“There is an open invitation to them, should they wish to talk to us about their vision for the club and their plans for supporter and community engagement.”

In September, the Trust revealed it had been speaking with another consortium, understood to be led by Julian Jenkins,  an ex-Cardiff City commercial director and CEO at Swiss side Servette for a spell.

It said at the time the Trust said Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) were in place which prevented those involved in discussions talking any more – yet the rumour mill has not stopped turning and Collis himself recently said he had “no problem” with talking to fans who contacted him on social media.

Speaking we are sure on behalf of most supporters, can the Gloverscast reiterate its plea for all these people who claim to have the best interests of our club at heart – say something, for the love of God!

Tom Knowles has been named in the Vanarama National League Team of the Week for his performance in the 2-1 home win over Eastleigh.

The Yeovil Town attacker lit up Huish Park with an outstanding opening goal just before half time to put his side  ahead.

The goal was the 23-year-old’s second of the season and came just 36 hours after he spoke about his desire to find the net more regularly.

Congratulations TK, here’s to many more thunder b*stards!

There is a full compliment of youth teams representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust in Junior Premier League action this weekend.

The Trust’s sides from Under-11s through to Under-16s are all in action.

However, Yeovil Town Under-18s are without a match today after their South West Counties Youth League fixture at home to Bath City Under-18s was postponed.

Striker Adi Yussuf has said he is confident that goals will come for Yeovil Town if they continue to do the things they are doing.

The 29-year-old played 72 minutes of today’s goalless draw at Solihull Moors where he had two great chances to find the net at the end of the first half.

Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Sheridan Robins after the match, Yussuf said: “At the minute I am still getting the minutes in and getting fitter and I am confident in myself that the goals will start coming.

“But the most important thing is the team are playing well and we are getting points on the board.

“I have got no doubts about the scoring, we are playing well and when the team is playing like that it is only a matter of time before the forwards start scoring.

The former Solihull player has started the last two games and says he is feeling his fitness returning having not had a proper pre-season before joining in the summer.

Following his release by Blackpool at the end of last season, he had a spell at League Two side Hartlepool United before signing for Yeovil on the eve of the new season.

He said he was using his position as one of the most experienced heads in to support the Glovers’ young team.

He said: “I am a big believer in confidence, so I praise them all the time and obviously tell them when they need to be told.

“I am loving every minute of it and I think we can do great things this year as long as we stick together, work hard and most importantly believe in ourselves.

Despite the loss of three loan players and injuries hitting his squad, Darren Sarll thinks it is unlikely there will be any more new arrivals at Huish Park.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Solihull Moors on Saturday, the boss said it would be “very hard” to bring in players to replace those who he has lost.

He added that he would continue to ask “the powers that be” about bringing in new players but questioned whether a further young loan was what the squad needed.

Sarll said: “Do we need another young one? What they need is some help out there and another guiding hand, because Terry and I can’t be in the middle and help them with decisions.

“That is what they need, a bit of help to push them along their way at times, like (in the 2-0 defeat) at Grimsby that is exactly what we needed.

“Maybe in December we will have those key stakeholders out there with them, but at the moment to they need another 19-year-old learner? It might be the only thing that is available to us.

Exeter City loanees striker Ben Seymour and defender Jordan Dyer returned to their parent club after their loan spell expired, while winger Dion Pereira is not returning from Luton Town after his loan was cut short.

The Under-11s, Under-12s and Under-13s representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust are all in Junior Premier League action on Saturday.

The under-11s travel to Yate Town (the YTFC-YTCST Derby?) with the under-12s at North Somerset Regional Talent Centre and the under-13s at home to Juventus Devon.
