Will Buse’s loan at W*ymouth has been extended until the end of the season.

The goalkeeper has not been in the Glovers’ first team plans for a while having not been issued with a squad number this season and spending plenty of time out on loan at various sides over the last 12 months.

Huish Park

Yeovil Town will welcome Boston United to Huish Park on Tuesday 11th March following the postponement of the original tie in early February.

Boston’s progression in the FA Trophy means they’ll be pre-occupied for the original date.

The game at. Huish Park kicks off at 7:45 and any tickets purchased for the original game remain valid.

Yeovil Town host Gateshead on Friday night and our referee for the game is officiating his first National League game of the season.

Ed Duckworth has been exclusively used in the EFL and Cup competitions this season but drops down to the 5th tier for the first time.

If you’re thinking ‘I’ve heard that name before’… you have, we’ve seen Mr Duckworth a few times over the recent years and not always fondly.

Most recently, he was in charge of the TV clash between Yeovil and Southend – you know, THAT one with Alex Fisher’s injury and goals for Murphy and Hyde before they joined us. Shudders.

But, he also sent Miguel Freckleton off for two bookings, the second of which was given for what can only be described as a really good recovering tackle.

Kick us when we’re down, why don’t you?

He also took charge of the 2-1 defeat to York City in North Yorkshire in February of the same season.

We’ve never won a game with Mr Duckworth in charge, whilst Gateshead have a record of four wins from six with him in the middle.

He will assisted by Alan Cresswell and Ravel Cheosiaua, with Lewis Sandoe on 4th Official duties.

The Western Counties Floodlight Youth League have issued a statement to the Gloverscast following the recent announcement that Yeovil Town’s Under 18s were withdrawing from the competition.

In a short statement to a number of Gloverscast questions a spokesperson for the league said;

“When clubs are admitted to the League of which there are currently 32 members, they agree to follow the rules which include the mandatory playing of all home matches at their stadiums. No further statement will be issued.”

The Glovers had said the league had rejected a proposed move away from playing games at Huish Park to protect the playing surface.

The young Glovers were 2nd in table at the point of their removal, at time of writing the FA’s Full Time portal has expunged all their results from the table and their fixtures have been removed.

The final league table which included Yeovil Town U18s

This also applies to the league’s cup competition the Roger Stone Memorial Cup.

Yeovil have announced a friendly game on Tuesday 14th January against Portishead as they continue to try and offer competitive football to the young Glovers.

(Yes, the same Portishead that are in the league they’ve just come out of)

Ref, Referee, Match Official

Yeovil Town head to Ebbsfleet for a midweek clash and our referee for the game will be Rob Massey-Ellis.

Rob isn’t the only official in his own marriage, his wife to Sian Massey-Ellis who has officiated at a range of levels as both ref and assistant.

Anyway, the cover image we’ve used for this article comes from the Glovers’ home game with Aldershot Town earlier on this season where Mr Massey-Ellis was in charge.

That game ended 1-1, a fine strike from Ciaran McGuckin for the home side.

He booked six players that day, including three Yeovil players. Frank Nouble, Aaron Jarvis and Dom Bernard will hope not to hear the words ‘remember me?’ on Tuesday night.

I refer back to one part in the Gloverscast Match Report for the next observation;

“Referee Robert Massey-Ellis thinks it is neither a foul or a booking. “You don’t know what you’re doing,” says Huish Park, followed by less polite things.”

Oh.

Anyway, in three YTFC games officiated by Rob Massey-Ellis, we’ve won none, lost none, seen no red cards and no penalties for or against us.

Saturday was a bit of a frosty one across the South West and so this might not be the longest edition of Loan Watch.

In the National League South, Jordan Thomas wasn’t involved for Torquay, serving a suspension after a recent red card.

Whilst Will Buse had to pick the ball out of the W*ymouth net on three occasions, including from a wonderful Rhys Murphy strike as Dorking got the better of a five-goal thriller.

Corey Koerner was named on the bench for Sherborne in their 1-0 defeat to AFC Portchester, the scorer on the day, one Brett Pitman!

Whilst the Reserves at Sherborne didn’t play today, we’ve noticed that Joe Crisp and Blake Watts have been involved in their set up recently too, both had scored for the Under 18s this season and both are regularly playing for the Zebras squad too.

Bridport – who had Sol Padmore in their line up – were 3-0 down as the clock ticked beyond the hour mark.

But a remarkable comeback saw them snatch a point, the equaliser coming  from the head of our very own George Geraghty.

So, whilst the Under 18s may not be involved in their own league, plenty of young Glovers are out and about getting game time in the local divisions.

Ciaran McGuckin makes his second Yeovil Town debut this afternoon in the home game against Woking replacing the suspended Kofi Shaw.

Matt Worthington also drops to the bench and is replaced by Frank Nouble who takes the captain’s armband.

The other headline is that Morgan Williams is missing through a ‘slight hamstring niggle’, with Finn Cousin-Dawson coming into the back line.

New signing Jacob Maddox and the returning Harvey Greenslade are both on the bench.

Yeovil Town manager Mark Cooper has been chatting to the BBC ahead of the visit of Woking on Saturday and says that he hopes that any frustrations about having a bit of time off can be taken care of at the weekend, even if preparations have themselves, been tricky at times.

Chatting to reporter Jack Killah, the boss said: “You cant get on the grass, we’ll be lucky if we get on grass, we have to train on a icy 3G, but yeah, we’ll get some work done.

“[Having a break] has it’s pros and cons, you can clear up a few niggles if you’ve got some, but generally, you just want to play, you don’t want to have too many big gaps in between games.”

Yeovil have added not one, but two new bodies to the group this week, firstly, the return of former loanee striker Ciaran McGuckin for another spell borrowed from Rotherham United.

“When somebody comes in and does as well as Ciaran did, he gave us that sort of impetus at the top of the pitch with Jarv, he wants to run in behind, he wants to run towards the goal and he can score so, that was something that we were always trying to do, we’d have loved to do it on a permanent but, not for now, but the next best thing we can get him until the end of the season.

“He really enjoyed his time here and I think he feels like he’s got unfinished business.”

The other is midfielder Jacob Maddox, on a permanent deal from Forest Green Rovers, Cooper says that he fits the bill of what he looks for in a Yeovil player.

“He’s one that fits our – what we try and do – technically, really good. [He] can run, he’s a decent size, he’s got pedigree, he’s one that can definitely add to our group.

“He played at Chelsea, he played in Portugal, he played in League One, League Two. He’ll be frustrated that he’s not played, but sometimes when a manager goes into a club he wants to sign his own players and that’s fair enough.”

Jacob Maddox

The squad has been further boosted by the return from loan of striker Harvey Greenslade who spent a month with Weston-super-Mare in the National League South, but the gaffer did confirm that full-back Alex Whittle remains sidelined.

“[Harvey’s] move [to Weston] didn’t go as well as we hoped, he picked up a niggle with his ankle, and then he was ill, so, he didn’t play the amount of games we hoped, but you know that can happen, so Harvey wants to come back in and fight for a place.”

“Alex Whittle has still got a mysterious niggle in his knee, he’s done some training this week, but he’s not trained with the group because he can’t train on the 3G, so it’ll be too soon for him, this weekend. But the rest are in pretty good shape.”

Alex Whittle

The game on Saturday could mark a milestone appearance for club captain Matt Worthington in green-and-white. The midfielder one of the few players to have represented the Glovers in the EFL, National League and South and as captain could make his 250th club appearance after first signing on August 31st 2017. This Saturday marks 2679 days since his debut, an eight-minute cameo from the bench in a 2-2 vs Morecambe.

Cooper said: “It’s great that in this day and age, people stay at a club for five or six years, it’s rare. Obviously last year, I made him the captain and we had a really good year, it’s great that a player stays at a club for that long and plays that many games, so it’s a big achievement.

“He’s honest, his work rate – he runs – you know what you’re getting from him every week, I think that’s important.”

Looking ahead to Woking, Cooper expects a changed outfit to the one that Yeovil beat 2-0 at the end of November, a change in manager amongst a whole host of differences. Neal Ardley took over at the Kingfield following the sacking of Michael Doyle in mid-December and has won all his four matches in all competitions since his arrival/.

Cooper said: “[Neal Ardley] has done well hasn’t he? He’s gone into Woking, he’s changed a little bit about the way that they play, he’s tried some rotations and from what I’ve seen, they’re trying to play a lot more football and they’ve had some good results, so it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re playing really well at the minute and our last few games we’ve performed really well and we’ve not got the points total that we’ve deserved, we’ve been on the end of a few sticky decisions shall we say? If we keep playing as we are, it might be our time to get a little bit of a rub of the green.”
