On-loan striker Ben Seymour and defender Jack Robinson and midfielder Mitch Rose are in the starting line-up for tonight’s visit of Maidenhead United to Huish Park (7.45pm kick-off).

Jordan Barnett drops to the bench with Matt Worthington

For the visitors there is no place for ex-Glover Shaun Donnellan, who does not make the squad having played the past two matches following a ten-month lay off through injury.

Yeovil Town: Smith, Robinson, Hunt, Staunton Moss, Gorman, Rose, Knowles, Wakefield, Quigley, Seymour .  Subs: Evans, Barnett, Bradley, Worthington, Lo-Everton.

Maidenhead United: Lovett, Massey, Wells, Parry, Clerima, Minigi, Ferdinand, Upward, Barratt, Smith, Blissett. Subs: Adams, Asonganyi, Beckwith, Acquah, Rees.

FC Halifax Town manager Pete Wild has been charged with abusing a match official for his outburst at the end of his side’s 1-0 defeat at Huish Park last month.

The boss admitted the charge under FA Rule E3 claiming that “in or around the 93rd minute of the fixture, the Participant’s language towards was abusive, and/or insulting, and/or improper and/or questioned the integrity of the Match Official.”

The FA website confirmed that Wild admitted the charge following the fixture on September 4.

Following the game, he said: “My frustrations boiled over, I shouldn’t be getting sent-off and I apologise for that.

“My yellow, apparently, is for getting the ball back in play, which is ridiculous…and then my red, the fourth official’s looked at me, smiled, and given the ball the other way, so I just said ‘you’ve done that on purpose’.

“Highly frustrating, but until the issue of refereeing’s addressed in this league nothing’s ever going to change.”

Yeovil Town will face local rivals W*ymouth  at Huish Park in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The tie will be played on Saturday, October 16.

It is the first time we have faced that lot from down the road in this competition since  October 1987 when a double from John McGinlay (yes, that one) earned us a 3-1 win in the same round.

Obviously we have good form for beating that lot in terracotta and blue after cantering to a 3-0 win at the Wessex Stadium in the National League back in January and following it up with a 3-1 win on home soil in February.

In fact, you have to go back six matches and a Boxing Day match in 1989 to find a time when the old enemy last beat us.

No ticket information is available for the tie, but watch this space for further details…..

Maidenhead United snatched defeat from the jaws of a score draw at home to King’s Lynn Town at the weekend.

Having seemingly snatched a point with a late penalty from striker Sam Barratt in the 90th minute, Brett McGavin snatched a winner for the visitors two minutes later.

That leaves them in 18th place having not won a match since picking up six points from their first two National League fixtures.

Since the 2-0 home win over Dover Athletic on August 28, five defeats and a draw – the latter being a decent point at home to table-topping Grimsby Town a couple of weeks ago – have seen Maidenhead slump.

Boss Alan Devonshire could not hide his disappointment, he told the Maidenhead Advertiser: “It’s just been so poor. We had a nice shape about us and all that in the first half.

“We’ve come in at half-time and I’ve told the boys to carry on doing the same things, but then within five minutes (of the restart) we’re 2-1 down and chasing the game.

“We’ve managed to get back to 2-2 in the 90th minute so I’d have obviously taken a point at the stage like in our last game (the 1-1 draw at home to Grimsby), but we have defended so badly.

Manny (Parry, the defender who appeared as a substitute for the second half) has got a chance to head the ball clear, it comes off the side of his head and goes out for a throw in.

“They then score from that – it’s gutting).

FROM THE MANAGER

Speaking after the defeat at home to King’s Lynn Town at the weekend, boss Alan Devonshire was asked if he had any positives from his side’s performance.

No, not really. I don’t think the front three (Josh Kelly, Nathan Blissett and Sam Barratt) played very well.

“I thought Kane (Ferdinand) did okay but I’m just so disappointed all round after being so comfortable at 1-0 when we didn’t look in trouble.

“We have put ourselves under heavy pressure. There will be changes to the team and I will mix things up until it’s right.

“It down is down to me to fix the problem, I know the fan’s aren’t happy and it’s fair enough because I’m not happy either.”

TEAM NEWS

Former Glover Shaun Donnellan‘s return after a ten-month lay off with a hamstring injury should have boosted Maidenhead.

The 24-year-old, who played 25 times during a year at Huish Park between January 2018 and 2019, underwent a hamstring operation and put in a man of the match performance in the 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town ten days ago.

He was even involved in the equaliser scored by Kane Ferdinand against Grimsby and should be in the side for the return to Huish Park this week.

Defender Will de Havilland went off with injury against King’s Lynn last weekend and was replaced by Manny Parry, and goalkeeper Rhys Lovett also took a heavy hit when King’s Lynn went 2-1 ahead.

Former Torquay United striker Nathan Blissett came off the bench to pair with Josh Kelly and Emile Acquah in a three-man forward line.

A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS

Shaun Donnellan‘s return after ten months on the sidelines following a hamstring operation makes him the only playing connection in either line-up.

The 24-year-old, had a spell at Huish Park in the 2018-19 season, has started the past two matches and will be expected to start.

Seth Nana-Twumasi
, who turned out for the Stones against Yeovil last season, departed York Road in the summer to join Dover Athletic.

Striker Ryan Bird, who scored eight times for Yeovil in the 2015-16, had a less prolific season at Maidenhead getting just one goal in the 2018-19 campaign.

Other connections are among former loanees including midfielders Reece Cole and Rohan Ince and defender Gabriel Osho, who have all spent time at both clubs.

It was a disappointing weekend results-wise for the youth sides representing Yeovil Town with only the Under-13s picking up a victory.

Playing their second fixture in 48 hours following an FA Youth Cup exit on Thursday night, the Under-18s slipped to a 4-0 defeat at Swindon Supermarine in the South West Counties Youth League.

A double from Tadhg O’Callaghan and further goals from Benjamin Cleary and substitute Marc Mikuzi gave the home side a comfortable victory.

In the Junior Premier League, the Under-13s representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust won their match against the Wiltshire Academy.

However, there were defeats for the Trust’s Under-12s, Under-15s and Under-16s teams.

It was a crazy day in the National League today with plenty of goals and even an abandoned match.

Hollywood’s Wrexham were 2-0 up at Aldershot through goals from Jake Hyde and Paul Mullin before the referee called a halt in the 51st minute. Wrexham players were even attempting to clear the pitch of water in order to get the game done.

There is goals galore in this paragraph. Altrincham scored two late goals to nick a 3-2 win on the road to Dagenham & Redbridge. Grimsby smashed Dover 6-0. Torquay beat Wealdstone 5-0, no he didn’t score. Ex-Glover Tahvon Campbell scored two as Woking upset Notts County 4-1 at the County Ground. Tuesday’s opponents Maidenhead lost 3-2 at home against King’s Lynn Town.

The tanned supremo, Phil Brown is teetering on the brink at Southend after their 2-0 loss at Solihull Moors. They find themselves in 21st position above Aldershot and Dover.

Stockport scored an 88th minute winner in a 2-1 at W*ymouth this afternoon. Madden scored their first.

Barnet and FC Halifax played out a 0-0 draw and the evening game between Eastleigh and Boreham Wood finished 1-1.

The five age group teams representing the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust are back in Junior Premier League action this week.

The Trust’s Under-12s, Under-13s, Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s will all play on Saturday.

Yeovil Town Under-18s will be looking to put the disappointment of going out of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night behind them when they travel to Swindon Supermarine.

That fixture gets underway at 10.30am in the South West Youth Counties League.
