Yeovil Town have added a left sided defender to their roster with the addition of former York City man Alex Whittle.

Whittle, 30, is known to Mark Cooper from his time at Forest Green Rovers and fills the natural void left by the departure of Jamie Reckord at the back end of June.

Yeovil fought off a number of other clubs to the signature of the former Chesterfield full-back with Whittle telling YTFC.net: “I’m happy to be here, I know the gaffer (Mark Cooper), I played under him before at Forest Green Rovers and played against him a couple times last season.

“I had a few clubs interested, the gaffer likes to play a good style of football and he’s signed some good players, so I’m happy to be here.”

Welcome to Huish Park, Alex!
