Dale Gorman (Page 2)

Yeovil Town midfielders Dale Gorman and Tom Knowles are both doubts for the weekend’s trip to big-spending Stockport County.

Manager Darren Sarll said the pair had picked up minor injuries after playing three games in the space of a week.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, the boss said: “We had a few concerns with (Dale) Gorman and Tom Knowles, a couple of little niggly ones from three games in a short space of time.

“We will leave that until as late as possible, I would not think that any of them will train today (Thursday) and maybe not tomorrow and we will look at some alternatives, maybe a shape change.”

The boss also confirmed that on loan Middlesbrough left-back Jack Robinson would not be available for the trip to Edgeley Park.

He is expecting the player to be available for selection again from Monday when suspended midfielder Matt Worthington will be available.

The versatile Alex Bradley returned after illness to come off the substitutes’ bench for the 1-0 home win over FC Halifax Town last weekend.

There is no news on loan midfielder Lewis Simper who is yet to be seen in the team or on the bench as yet.

Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll has confirmed he spoke with outgoing midfield Charlie Lee about finding a suitable replacement which led to the signing of Dale Gorman.

Speaking prior to the King’s Lynn game Sarll said “I was really worried about replacing Charlie (Lee)’s charachter and I sat with Charlie and said ‘Chaz, you are a dying breed, how do I replace you?’ he said ‘ you know there’s one lad out there who can do that… Dale Gorman’. so off  we went and tried to do the deal with Glentoran, which was not simple but we got there.”

Gorman and Sarll have known each other for a while, something which the gaffer thinks will stand them both in good stead.

“Dale Gorman might be new to Yeovil, but he’s not to Darren Sarll, I’ve known him for a third of his life, it’s an easy one, I know how to manage him straight away, I know what he does – he’s a horrible little Irish man – he’s not very nice when it comes to winning and losing”

“It’s lovely to have him back, I’ve known him since he was a teenager, he’s a smashing chap”

Gorman, like a number of others is likely to make his Glovers’ debut in front of a home crowd when Yeovil host King’s Lynn on Saturday

New Glovers’ signing midfielder Dale Gorman has said he is looking forward to playing for boss Darren Sarll again.

The Northern Irishman, who joined on undisclosed terms from NIFL Premiership side Glentoran, played under the manager at youth team level at Stevenage in 2015 and then again under him in the first-team three years later.

Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, the 25-year-old said: “I have played under the gaffer for a number of years now, I know what he is like and he knows what I am like and I am delighted to be back playing under him again.

“I was about 16 when I first signed for Stevenage when I first came across him, so I have known him a long time and to get back working with him is something I looking forward to.

Having been released by Stevenage following the departure of Sarll at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, Gorman joined Leyton Orient and played 22 times as they won the National League.

Asked about his ambitions at Huish Park, he added: “Our ambitions have to be promotion, when you look at the size of the club and we will give it a good go this year to get back where we know we should be.

“I have experience of winning this league and I know what it takes to win matches in this league, so hopefully I can bring that with me.

Midfielder Dale Gorman has become the latest summer signing for Yeovil Town – almost a month after he was first linked with a move to Huish Park.

The Northern Irishman, who played under Glovers’ boss Darren Sarll during a three-year spell at Stevenage, has joined on undisclosed terms  from NIFL Premiership side Glentoran.

A move has been expected ever since reports in Belfast Telegraph at the start of the month.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the 25-year-old said: “I’m delighted to get everything sealed and finalised; I’m just looking forward to the season starting now.

“Our ambition has to be promotion; you look at the size of the football club and not many would expect us to be here.

“We’ll give it a good go this year to try and get back where we should be.

Talking about the former Leyton Orient and Newport County fans on social media, Glentoran fans gave mixed reviews of the player.

@UnofficialGlens said: “He’d the top assists in our team last season, but he generally didn’t start for us.

“Most of these were against the bottom sides in the League.

“He loves a long ball over the top and has a decent delivery from set pieces.”
But, another Glens’ supporter described him as “a set-piece specialist who never scored from a set piece.”

No idea who Stena Embla (?)  or Gary Windass are, but here are a few other thoughts from Glentoran fans.
