This is an example page. It's different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I'm a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin' caught in the rain.)

...or something like this:

Yeovil Town have made four changes for today’s game a third-placed Carlisle United (3pm kick-off).

Tahvon Campbell, Josh Sims, Ryan Jones and Kyle Ferguson all return following the 3-1 home defeat to Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.

Yeovil Town make the almost 700-mile round trip to Carlisle United as they face the third-placed Cumbrians on Saturday afternoon.

FORM…

YEOVIL TOWN

The Glovers didn’t have the best of games last time out as they were beaten 2-1 by Aldershot Town. Although it wasn’t the strongest of performances by the home side, The Shots have been in good form themselves, currently sitting second in the form tables since their new manager, John Coleman arrived.

Yeovil boss Billy Rowley admitted after the game his side were not ready for the battle with the Hampshire side. Which was clear to see through the efforts of Yeovil’s strikers when they didn’t mop up Jake Wannell’s headers into the six yard box. Talking of Wannell he will miss the Carlisle game through suspension after picking up his 10th yellow of the season.

Yeovil Town vs Aldershot.
Yeovil Town vs Aldershot.

CARLISLE UNITED

The Cumbrians currently occupy third place in the league and their last five games have shown why. Out of those five games, United have won three against good opposition, such as Forest Green. However, the two teams they lost to, are the two teams that sit above them in the league, York City and Rochdale.

It was in their last fixture against the aforementioned Forest Green that they showed why they deserve to be third. Away from home, most teams would try to feel their way into the match. Carlisle, didn’t need time to settle netting the opener in the 11th minute, through Stephen Wearne. A second followed 11 minutes later as Morgan Feeney doubled the Cumbrians lead, before David Ajiboye effectively ended the match in the 29th minute when he bagged his teams third. Rovers scored a consolation in the 52nd minute through Jay Mingi.

Fun Fact: Since the beginning of the year, Carlisle have scored two more goals in every game they have picked up points in.

KEY PLAYERS…

YEOVIL TOWN – JED WARD

By now I think I may just keep this section for Ward. The shot stopper is exactly that, a shot stopper, which was on full display on Tuesday night. The young keeper pulled off a string of saves that kept Yeovil in a game that should have probably got away from them. To put it bluntly, if it wasn’t for Ward we would be staring down the barrel of the National League South.

Jed Ward with a fine save against Aldershot.

The game against Aldershot wasn’t even a good game by the 22-year-olds standards. He had a couple of handling errors, some stray distribution and what will hurt most two goals conceded. But as I said above, if he wasn’t in goal we have been beaten by more.

CARLISLE UNITED – DAVID AJIBOYE

Ajiboye has been in fine form since New Year’s Eve. In the last month and a half, the 27-year-old has bagged four goals, with three being in the last two games. He has pitched in with two assists in that time as well. The forwards uptick in form coincides with the fact striker Regan Linney has been out the side with and injury. Now, I’m not saying when Linney plays the directive has been to give him the ball, but more players like Ajiboye have come a light in that time.

Positionally, AJiboye has been often deployed on the right hand side of the front line. His heat map shows he sits just off the right side of the 18-yard box with not much tracking back. The former Peterborough man will be one to watch on Saturday.

THE GAFFER…

It’s none other than Mr Wales himself, Mark Hughes, in the opposition dugout this weekend. A superstar in his playing days, Hughes turned out for Manchester United, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich  and famously played for both Wales and Bayern on the same day in 1987.

Now 61, Hughes has managed at the highest level with Wales, Manchester City, and Stoke. After a tough spell at Southampton in 2018, he returned to management with Bradford City in 2022, earning Manager of the Month before being dismissed a year later.

Following another short break, he took charge at Brunton Park, staying on despite Carlisle’s relegation to the National League. Hughes, has guided Carlisle to third in the league and will be looking for instant promotion this season. He is also an idol of Yeovil boss Billy Rowley.

Hughes has faced the Glovers once in his managerial career drawing that game.

LAST TIME WE MET…

The last time the two side met was in the return fixture earlier this season when they played out a 1-1 draw at Huish Park. No Yeovil player scored that day as Morgan Feeney put the Glovers ahead with an own goal in the 15th minute. Carlisle did get their equaliser in the 68th minute however through Harvey Macadam.

DON’T I KNOW YOU…

Just the one  recognisable face for the travelling Glovers on Saturday with centre-back Bevis Mugabi now plying his trade in Cumbria. Mugabi made 102 appearances for Yeovil during his two-year spell at the club.

THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE…

Greg Rollason is the man in charge for this fixture. For more information on him and his team for Tuesday night check out Ben’s article – here.

Michael Barlow has the honour of making his way to Brunton Park this Saturday to take charge of the game between Yeovil Town and Carlisle United.

A referee we’ve only seen twice, both on both occasions things didn’t go particularly well for the Glovers.

He took charge of a 1-0 away defeat to Halifax in April 2022, and then, just shy of a year later he took charge of the 3-0 defeat to Wrexham which sealed Yeovil’s relegation out of the National League and into the NLS.

He’s only taken one Carlisle game in his career, a 2-1 defeat away at Southend back in November.

13 games in total for Mr Barlow this season, resulting in 45 yellows (3.46 per game) two reds – both in the EFL – and just one solitary penalty awarded!

He’ll be assisted by George Eaton and Mark Cunliffe with Andrew Daniels on fourth official duties.

Let’s wrap this game up once and for all shall we, it’ll be of no great surprise that Jed Ward has once again taken your Man of the Match vote for the 2-1 home defeat to Aldershot.

The Bristol Rovers loanee has easily moved into double figures for the number of MOTM wins this season, and continues to impress for the Glovers, win, lose or draw.

Captain Jake Wannell was 2nd, with goal scorer Terrell Works coming in third.

Full-back Alex Whittle and midfielder Jonathon Page will both be available for Yeovil Town at high-flying Carlisle United this weekend.

The pair have both been involved in training this week having been missing through injury in recent weeks and are now in the frame to be involved in a tough test in Cumbria. Page has been an unused substitute in the last two games and not featured picking up an injury on his debut in the defeat at Brackley Town last month, whilst Whittle has played just once under Rowley having been dogged by injury.

Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Josh Perkins on Thursday ahead of the 700-mile round trip, manager Billy Rowley said his side were hoping to put in a performance to cancel out a below par performance in the 2-1 home defeat to Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.

He said: “Whitts has been in full training today, I have just given him Man of the Match in training today, he was good out there. Jon Page has also been in full training today and he will be back available for Saturday, he has been really unfortunate since he has come in. So those two lads will come back in the squad and fully available for selection.

The boss said he showed his side a video nasty as they replayed the opening half-an-hour of their miserable midweek display. The Glovers were 1-0 down inside seven minutes against a visiting side which bossed the game and only drew level courtesy of a spectacular strike from loan forward Terrell Works.

Rowley said: “We have watched some clips of the first 20 to 30 minutes of the game and I think it was important for us all to realign ourselves to what are the minimum expectations of playing for Yeovil. Gouldy (goalkeeping coach, Matt Gould), who is a beam of positive energy in the office, reminded me that in the two-and-a-half months that we have been here, that is definitely the worst we have played and the bottom line is we got outran and outfought on Tuesday night. It was the first time that has happened in the time I have been here, so it was important we pressed the reset button on that and made sure our values of leaving everything on the pitch is still massively important to how we want to play.

When you are looking around the room, seeing people nodding and looking you in the eye, it is pretty clear that everybody knows we had a bad day at the office on Tuesday. It is something we desperately want to make sure does not happen again and we are looking forward to the game on Saturday to try and change that. It is important to enjoy your wins because it is a short career for a lot of players and managers, but when you do lose a game it is important to remember it is not the end of the world. You have to reflect on it, try and improve on it and try and iron out the things you do not want to see again and that is what we have done. It is not to say we will not lose another game, but we will win plenty as well and we will keep trying to improve.

The Glovers make the long trip to face third-placed Carlisle United who have won six of their last ten matches in the National League Premier Division and are looking to make up ground on the division’s top two, Rochdale and York City. Last time out they put in an impressive display to win 3-1 at fellow promotion hopefuls, Forest Green Rovers, last weekend but were without a match in midweek.

The Cumbrians’ manager, former Manchester United striker Mark Hughes, confirmed they will be without full-back Josh Williams who picked up a hamstring injury against Forest Green, but Rowley is expecting a tough match.

He said: “They have got a lot of match-winners in their team and Mark Hughes is an idol of mine as a young Man United fan, he was the best volley-er of all time, so it will be great to chat to him about his career, but we are going to go there and try to take three points off them first. They have some top players and it is a great place to go and play football, so I think it will add motivation to our lads. We will go there with a clear mindset and a clear game plan and we have just got to turn up and execute it. We will try to right the wrongs from (the defeat to Aldershot) on Tuesday, run hard and get the win.

In a weird way I think sometimes the shackles are off (us away from home). I understand modern football can be a little strange for the average punter and something that I keep reassuring our supporters is that we are always looking to score, always looking to get behind teams. Sometimes the execution of that has been off lately, but it is just reinforcing those messages and when we go to an away ground you are naturally the underdog and do not get as many moans and groans and you play without any fear or restrictions. I like this opportunity to go there and upset them, they are a top team with a great manager and we are looking forward to getting out there and doing what we do.

Yeovil Town loanee Dakari Mafico has said his preferred position is in the centre of midfield, but is happy to be learning a new side to his game at left wing-back.

The Cardiff City youngster has been a sensation since joining on loan until the end of the season at the start of January and impressed in  a central role during last weekend’s 1-1 draw with league leaders Rochdale at Huish Park.

However, he was switched back to the left wing-back position which he has filled on many occasions since his arrival in Somerset for the 2-1 defeat at home to Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.

Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Josh Perkins on Thursday ahead of the trip to third-placed Carlisle United this weekend, the 19-year-old said: “I try and help where I can. I know my preferred position is to play in the middle, but I have been on the left in most games and that has been a different side to my game that I need to develop. I have enjoyed it so far, when I get to be in the middle, that is where I enjoy it the most and obviously I show my best qualities. But it is about where I can help the team, bring my quality on the ball and drive us forward up the pitch and work on my defensive skills as well.

I am mostly a number six, that is my main position, but being able to do a bit of both, sometimes I roll in as an eight. But when I am out wide as a left wing-back, I get to work on the one-on-one aspect of my game which I might not get as much in midfielder. It is all positive. This season at Cardiff I played at left-back for the first game of the season and I think I may have played it for one season when I was about nine. I am having to learn quickly and coming (to Yeovil) and having to do the same thing has only helped me with versatility. That obviously gives me more opportunities in the team, but if my name is on the team-sheet, I am happy.

Dakarai Mafico has been an instant hit since joining on loan from Cardiff City last month. Picture courtesy of Gary Brown.

Mafico was selected as your Player of the Month for January in our regular post-match polls after picking up topping the Man of the Match charts in three matches having arrived at the club. His performance against Rochdale also saw him pick up 45.6% of the vote.

The Cardiff academy product is expected to be in the Yeovil squad which makes the almost 700-mile round journey to Carlisle United this weekend, but knows the Glovers face a tough test against a side which has won seven of their last ten matches on home soil.

Mafico said: “We were not good enough *against Aldershot Town) on Tuesday in all aspects of the performance, but if we can replicate Saturday’s performance (against Rochdale) against Carlisle we could have a good day. It will be tough physically especially going away to them, it will be a tough game but we are confident if we apply ourselves in the right way as we did on Saturday we will be able to get a good result.”

Neuro-diverse supporters are of course welcome to book seats for anywhere in the stadium but we strongly recommend this area for your visit. Please note, these seats are accessed via a staircase with approximately 20 steps. If you need an alternative route, please follow the Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter Users guidance in the Stadium Entry section.

At your Quiet Zone seat, you’ll meet Zoe (below) from our YCFC Volunteers team. She’ll be sat near you and will be there to help if you need anything.

Getting to the Stadium

The stadium is accessible via car and public transport, with parking and a bus stop just a short distance away.

How do I get to the stadium?

For all the details on travel, including public transport, and match day parking, please visit our website.

Can I book a parking space?

There are 400 parking spaces available, over 50 of these are accessible. Each parking space must be booked in advance and can be done alongside your tickets.

Audio Devices, Ear Defenders and Sensory Packs

York City FC and The Wilf Ward Family Trust continued their excellent working relationship in the 2024/25 season by expanding their match day accessibility provision. The aim is to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all fans, ensuring that every individual can enjoy the excitement of sports and feel fully included in the community.

 Audio Devices
Blind or partially sighted supporters can loan a matchbox-size audio device to hear real-time audio commentary of the match from BBC Radio York (using a radio streaming service can have up to a seven second delay). Please bring your own headphones with an aux input cable to use.

 Ear Defenders

We are able to provide complimentary ear defenders, which are yours to keep, upon request to help individuals who may experience sensory overload during the game.

Sensory Packs*

We also have ten x sensory packs which are available to loan on a match-by-match basis; please note that we can only offer one pack per family/group per match to make sure as many can access these as possible.

*Sensory packs and individual items (fidget spinners and stress balls) will be available to purchase, so they are yours to keep, in our Club Shop here.
Supporters who wish to access any of these resources are requested to complete this short form once they have secured their tickets so that we can prepare the appropriate number of items to distribute on the day. Anyone who does not complete the form but would like to receive a resource may not be able to so please complete the form in advance to avoid disappointment.

Collection and Return
On the day, head to Turnstiles 7-9 (closest to the swimming pool entrance of the Leisure Centre) to collect your ear defenders and/or sensory packs from our YCFC Volunteers team.

After the match, you are kindly requested to return your sensory pack(s) to the club office, located inside the Leisure Centre (opposite the lifts).

Firstly, please complete this form to let us know that you’d like to collect a set at the match.

At turnstiles 7-9, you’ll meet the lovely Doreen, part of our match day volunteers team, YCFC Volunteers, who will have your resource(s). Providing you’ve completed the form, just give your name(s) and pick yours up.

Stadium Entry

All entries to the stadium require a match ticket, which must be scanned before entry. There are automated turnstiles with built-in ticket scanners to use but for those uncomfortable with small spaces, please speak to any of the stewards on duty who will grant you access through a large gate next to the turnstiles, rather than the regular turnstile, upon presentation of your match tickets.

Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter Users and Supporters with Limited Mobility

Enter the stadium via the Hospitality Entrance where you can access the lifts to take you to the top of the East Stand. Once the doors open, our match day volunteers will signpost you through the Jorvik Lounge and out to the gantry through the accessible route. From here, you can access the wheelchair and mobility scooter user spaces as well as any other seats in the stand, which may be particularly helpful to those seated towards the top of the stand. Wheelchair and mobility scooter users are welcome to enter and exit via the Jorvik Lounge to access concessions stalls and toilets and return outside to enjoy the match.

Toilets and Changing Facilities

There are male, female, and accessible toilets in every stand within the stadium and Hospitality. For those requiring a Changing Places Toilet, this can be found at the Leisure Centre reception.
All toilets within the stadium also feature baby changing facilities. All accessible toilets inside the stadium are now stoma-friendly to support those with additional needs.

Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter Users

Toilets are located just inside the swimming pool entrance to the stadium, with more on Floor 2 which can be accessed via the Hospitality lounges once your match ticket(s) has been scanned.

Safe Exit and Quiet Room

If for any reason you need to leave the stadium, go back the way you came in and stewards will help guide you outside to a safe, quiet space.
A quiet room (see photo above) is accessible on the day for anyone who needs a private space; please just speak to the Leisure Centre reception for access.

 Leaving the Stadium

Whenever you would like to leave the stadium, please do so via the same route as when you came in. Please speak to club volunteers or any match day stewards if you’re not sure where to go.

Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter Users

In cases of emergency, all wheelchair or mobility scooter users are advised to remain in place so that they can be guided out safely. Evac Chairs are stored at every stand for use in emergencies.

Well, that was… a bit rubbish, wasn’t it?

Ben dialled up his DAZN stream and took in the Glovers’ 2-1 defeat to Aldershot. Here are his five conclusions.

A result that undid all the good work vs Rochdale.

Actually a performance that undid all the good work vs Rochdale

The harsh truth is that Aldershot wanted it more, the Aldershot players also played with 10 men on Saturday (for longer than we did) but they came with a plan to come out of the boxes quickly, stun us and then just never relented.

The honest thought is that, instead of fighting fire with fire, we went into damage limitation mode and couldnt get a foot into the game at all. And if I had a quid for every time we gave the ball away, by yearly DAZN subscription would have been covered twice over.

That’s about Aldershot deciding to live and die by their positive actions and they well and truly deserved every bit of it.

For the love of Phil Jevons will someone find a striker.

Twice in the game, we had set pieces in attacking areas which Jake Wannell won in the air, twice the ball fell into the six yard box and twice, not a soul in green and white was to be seen.

Wannell’s arms went up in exasperation twice. Where is the striker who snaffles five or six a season by sticking their foot through one from 4 yards, who wants to be in the mix, where push comes to shove, where youve got to get a kick, where you’ve got to do anything and everything to get that ball over the line? Aldershot had someone like that. He won them the game.

Ward and Works worth their weight.

We’ve said it a million times, here’s 1,000,001. Without Jed Ward we’d be well and truly stuffed wouldn’t we?

By his standards, he actually had a below par game, some sloppy distribution and a couple of little fumbles. But we were in the game because of him, he’s saved us so many points this season.

And a word for Works, who is diminutive in stature, but when he flashes into gear, my word there’s a player there. The sort of player we’ll see doing great things in the future and we’ll say “remember that belter he scored vs Aldershot that time?”.

Terrell Works shoots….and scores. Nice one, son.

Worried without Wannell

Jake Wannell’s tenth yellow of the season means he’ll miss the next two (vs Carlisle and Sutton)

Our defence has chopped and changed a fair bit this season, but we’re going to have FCD and two relative newbies against Carlisle and that’s got me a little nervous.

But, it does offer a chance for FCD, or perhaps Kyle Ferguson to hear the call for leadership from the gaffer and really step up. Just like they did vs Rochdale.

We’re still paying the price for early season chaos.

Its mid February and we’re having to manage the minutes of players who have come in after time out of other sides and we’re still asking a lot of a young side, packed full of exciting, but raw talent.

Four managers, four ideas, four plans, four plan As, four plan Bs and its clear we didnt start the season fit enough – I’d love to compare Aldershot’s heat maps and distance covered – and with games coming thick and fast it isn’t getting any easier. But the Rowley era has, overall, been a positive one, we’re still on a road to Wembley, we’re still closer to 11th (4pts) than we are to 21st (5pts).

It’s a massive summer ahead, get there unscathed in the league (and maybe a Trophy in the back pocket) and this defeat will be long forgotten.
