This is an example page. It's different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I'm a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin' caught in the rain.)

...or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickeys to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.

Yeovil Town picked up a crucial three points in the battle to drag themselves away from the foot of the National League Premier Division table with victory over Morecambe on a glorious day at Huish Park.

The Glovers showed plenty of the fighting spirit supporters have been calling for in recent weeks and three goals with Brett McGavin opening with a thunderous strike after just ten minutes before Gwion Edwards levelled ten minutes before half-time.

First James Daly and then another goal for Ryan Jones’ scrap book gave Yeovil a 3-1 advantage with just over an hour played before a penalty from Jack Nolan after 76 minutes ensured a nervous end to proceedings.

As the game entered the ninth minute of second half injury time (no idea where that came from!), James Daly saw a ball out for a goal kick and thumped his chest screaming before the final whistle sounded and players dropped to their backs. They had given everything for three points which puts seven points between them and the relegation places.

On a day where all of the bottom four – with the exception of bottom club Truro City – lost and Sutton United, Aldershot Town and Eastleigh all dropped below them, this was a big result for the Glovers.

First half

The first real chance of the game led to an opening goal for the Glovers courtesy of midfielder Brett McGAVIN after ten minutes. From fully 25 yards out, he found space to take a shot from range and his effort hit the inside of the post and Morecambe keeper Jamal Blackman on its way in to the net. A slice of good fortune maybe, but it’s what happens when you have a shot.

A good work from Terrell Works after 23 minutes saw him play it to James Daly down the left who fired a cross in to the area but there was no-one there to do anything with it, before Yann Songo’o tried an acrobatic effort to turn a Jack Nolan free-kick towards goal, only for it to be blocked by the Yeovil defence.

But, with ten minutes of the first half remaining, the visitors equalised. A well-worked corner from Morecambe saw them move it past a sleepy Yeovil defence and it fell to the experienced Gwion EDWARDS whose effort deflected through a Yeovil players’ legs and in to the net.
McGavin had a free kick deflected for a corner, Troy Perrett put one in to the side netting, but there was nothing which constituted a meaningful effort on Blackman’s goal as 45 minutes of attacking the Thatcher’s End – which included owner Prabhu Srinivasan – came to nothing more. Level at the break.

Half time: Yeovil Town 1 Morecambe 1

Second half

The first half had lacked too much in the way of quality from either side, but a nice combination between Works and Perrett led to the Cardiff City loanee having a low effort stopped by Blackman just five minutes in to the second half.

A minute later, there was a shout for a penalty for the home side when Terrell Works went to the floor as he attempted to turn home a rebound after Ryan Jones’ effort was well-saved. Not given, but it was better for Yeovil.

With 54 minutes played, Yeovil boss Billy Rowley introduced new loan signing Delano McCoy-Splatt (are we going for DM-S?) in to the midfield replacing Perrett. The AFC Wimbledon youngster’s first touch in green-and-white saw him find Works with a nice long ball.

Then on 58 minutes the both DM-S and Works, who had played together in the Fulham academy, were at the heart of a second goal. Initially it was Josh Sims who kept the ball in play, picked out DM-S who worked well with his fellow loanee before playing an excellent through ball to Works on the right of the box and he picked out James DALY who still had a lot of work to do and did it superbly to smash Yeovil back in to the lead.

But anything Daly can do, Ryan JONES can do better. The winger’s corner was cleared and worked back out to him on the right wing, he worked it inside and from just inside the penalty area unleashed a thunderous low effort which screamed in to the corner. 3-1 with 62 minutes played and some vital breathing space.

McCoy-Splatt and Works continued to link up well and there was plenty of fighting spirit on show from those in green-and-white with no shortage of full-blooded tackles against a Morecambe side who need the points for their own battle to get out of the drop zone.

Huish Park was in good voice with the home supporters more than playing their part to drive their team on. Then with 76 minutes on the clock, Paul Lewis went down after feeling contact from McGavin on the edge of the box and Jack NOLAN fired home a penalty to leave more than a hint of nerves around the stadium.
The biggest groan inside Huish Park (probably) came when the fourth official held up the board to indicate nine minutes of squeaky bum time. Two minutes in to the nine, Jed Ward had to move his feet quickly to deny Morecambe substitute Ben Tollitt whose cross-come-shot almost caught the keeper out, but he managed to push it out for a corner.
Come the final whistle, many of those in green-and-white collapsed on their backs having put in a huge shift to pick up a vital three points on a day when everything else went right for them at the foot of the table. Massive effort, massive win.

An unhappy Billy Rowley

Yeovil Town are back at Huish Park on Saturday afternoon as they take on fellow strugglers Morecambe in the league.

FORM…

YEOVIL TOWN

The Glovers haven’t been at their best over the last month or so with performances dropping off. Those bad performances have resulted in losses and a slip down the table. In their last games against Woking it was more of the same for Yeovil as they lost 1-0.

The game was marred on the Glovers behalf at least by striker Aaron Jarvis receiving his 10th yellow card of the season meaning a suspension. With Jarvis out and Tahvon Campbell on loan, Billy Rowley now only has new recruit Millar Matthews-Lewis to rely on up top.

Speaking of Rowley, his damming post match interview, where he questioned his players mentality and pleaded for “some more passion” will hopefully get a spark out of his squad.

An unhappy Billy Rowley

MORECAMBE

If this was a month or so go it would be a different story. A team that was minutes away from being extinct, languishing near the bottom of the table with poor result after poor result. However, they have since parted ways with Ashvir Johal and brought in Jim Bentley, who has done a good job in getting a more consistent tune out of the side.

Over the last five games, the Shrimps have won twice, drawn twice and lost once (to York). It was a 1-1 draw for the Seasiders last time out as they faced Braintree at home, but it has been the scoring prowess of the Lancashire side that has been impressive. In the last five games they have scored 15 goals, a cause for concern for the Glovers defence.

KEY PLAYERS…

YEOVIL TOWN – MILLAR MATTHEWS-LEWIS

I feel bad for putting him in the position of key player when he has only played a handful of minutes on Tuesday night. But it shows the level of desperation we are now at that we have to rely on a very new loanee to get us going. As mentioned with Aaron Jarvis now suspended. Matthews-Lewis will need to step up in a big way on Saturday.

Millar Matthews-Lewis.

A big problem for the Glovers all season has been goals, so the hope of bringing the 21-year-old in is that he can hit the ground running. In his 24 appearance in the National League South this season the Burton Albion youngster has bagged 12 goals, something he can hopefully transfer in the step up.

MORECAMBE – JACK NOLAN

There was only one man that I could pick for this after doing some research and that is Jack Nolan. The 24-year-old is a midfielder that every manager dreams of. Technically very good, can set up a goal and even finishes them himself. In fact so far this season the midfield master has found the net 15 times, yep you read that correct.

Although performing at a good level before the arrival of Jim Bentley, Nolan has stepped it up a gear for his new boss with 10 goals in that time, six of which have come in his last three games. And what is perhaps even more impressive for you geeks out there is that he hit a match rating of 10 (on Sofascore) when Morecambe beat Sutton 5-0 two games ago.

It could be a long day for Yeovil if they don’t set up well against the tricky winger.

THE GAFFER…

As I have mentioned a couple of time already the Shrimps now have Jim Bentley in charge after dismissing Ashvir Johal. The 49-year-old is no stranger to Morecambe though serving as their manager from 2012-2019, before leaving for AFC Fylde. After three years at the Mill Farm, the Scouser was dismissed. He then went on to manage Rochdale and Southport.

Bentley also played professionally only playing for two clubs, Telford and Morecambe. It was with the Shrimps that he was most associated with playing over 300 games for the club.

As a manager Bentley has faced Yeovil nine times, winning five, drawing two and losing two.

LAST TIME WE MET…

When the two sides last locked horns the game was dull to say the least. With the match finishing 0-0. When they last faced off at Huish Park, back in 2019, however it was a much more exciting fixture, with the Glovers winning 3-2.
Yeovil went 1-0 down early on thanks to a Richie Bennett goal. They did get themselves back into the game after halftime, as a quick fire double from Tristan Abrahams put them on top. The Shrimps then equalised in the 83rd minute as Steve Old looked to have secured a share of the points, before Yeovil boy, Ryan Seager put the game to bed four minutes later.
A collector’s item. Tristan Abrahams scoring one of his two goals in a home win over Morecambe during his loan spell in 2019-20.

DON’T I KNOW YOU…

There are no former Glovers to look out for on Saturday.

THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE…

Aaron Farmer will be the man with the whistle on Saturday afternoon. For more on him and his team read Ben’s article here.

Jed Ward during his pre-match warm up.

Another game, another Jed Ward man of the match vote.

It was a lot closer this time though, with four different players getting more than 10% of the vote.
In a smaller than usual total tally every vote mattered, Brett McGavin ended up edging out Harvey Greenslade and James Daly to take second spot.

… can you ‘Splatt’ into somewhere? Or was that just a terrible effort to weave our new midfielder’s name into a headline pun? Not sure, anyway, I digress

Yeovil Town have announced the loan signing of Delano McCoy-Splatt from Wimbledon for the rest of the season.

Formerly of Fulham, the midfielder has been capped at full international level by Jamaica and head to Huish Park for the remainder of the campaign.

Two of the Glovers’ loanees; Dak Mafico and Josh Tobin have injuries which may take them out for some (or in the case of Tobin, possibly all) of the season and Splatt joins to bolster the ranks.

He’s represented Wimbledon a handful of times this season, including against Gateshead in the FA Cup.

Welcome to Somerset, Delano!
