It’s one of football’s age old questions, can you do it on a cold, wet Tuesday night in Tamworth?
Let’s hope the Glovers can.
One man who definitely can is our match referee for the evening John Mulligan.
At time of writing, he’s taken charge of three National League games this season and dished out a whopping 19 yellow cards.
Mainly based in the north, Mr Mulligan has NEVER taken charge of either a Yeovil or a Tamworth game, which makes this preview quite tricky, but as this season represents his second at the level, we wont hold it against him.
Speaking of his promotion to this level, his boss at the Cumbrian FA said;
“We are so pleased for John, as he has gained a fully deserved FA promotion to Level 2a.
“Having missed out as part of the mid-season promotion, John worked even harder on his game over the past few months, which highlights his commitment to refereeing.
“John is one of our county Centre of Refereeing Excellence (CORE) group coaches and we often talk about resilience to younger referees and those wishing to progress from grassroots level. John is the perfect example of that attribute.
Mr Mulligan will be assisted by the tastiest sounding linesman on the circuit Matt Bacon with Ryan McIlravey also waving a flag about. Jake Allsopp is making the half time teas… and other important Fourth Official Business.
