Yeovil fell to their fifth defeat of this season this afternoon with the 1-0 loss at Chelmsford and stopper Joe Day said the Glovers are taking nothing for granted.

Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Ian Randall, the keeper said: “Look, we’ve got ourselves in a great position. But that’s all it is at this point in the season. It’s a good position, you know, nothing’s won yet. We’ve gotta carry on. Stick to the plan that we’ve had. Keep playing the football, we’ve been playing.

“I’ve no doubt we’ll react like we have done a few times a season, after a poor result or a poor performance. We come out again. It’s a great group of lads, you know, in that dressing room and we’ll all be hurting until we can put it right. But it’s a tough league. It’s tough coming on these away days. So yeah, like I said, take it on the chin, move on, get a good week’s training under our belts and look forward to a response next Saturday.”

It was a game that seemed it was always going to be decided by a single goal and Day said it was ‘disappointing’ and ‘frustrating’ afternoon in Essex.

He said: “Of course, we’re disappointed. We set up and we want to win every game of football. It’s frustrating that we couldn’t hold on for a clean sheet and frustrating we couldn’t put one of our chances away, but you know, we’ll do what we what we always do. We’ll stick together, we’ll regroup and and we’ll look to go again.

“I think it was a game with lots of turnovers, but no real clear cut chances. So yeah, it did feel like it was going to be whoever took a chance. I’m always confident we’re going to score. For me, [It’s] a little bit disappointing, [we were] a little bit toothless at times – which is the frustrating part. And then, we get punished with a half chance, really. But we should be defending that and seeing the game out with the clean sheet and at worst case scenario we draw the game 0-0.”
