The Gloverscast is an independent website and podcast dedicated to Yeovil Town Football Club.
It was launched in January 2020, with a view to providing a bit of content about Yeovil Town, solely in a bi-weekly podcast form.
As time has gone on, and issues have arisen at the club and the lack of quality local media coverage in digital form, the Gloverscast has evolved into an all round news operation. We provide up-to-date original news content about the club, dedicated match reports and all the post-match coverage any Yeovil Town supporter could want. We survey the supporters once a month for their views and conduct and end of season survey too.
We’re also dedicated to preserving the work of Martin ‘Badger’ Baker by restoring as much of Ciderspace as we possibly can.
Meet the Team
Ian Perkins
I’ve been following Yeovil since my Grandad took me to watch a pre-season friendly against Swindon Town in 1998. I grew up watching the Glovers perform FA Cup heroics before we finally reached the football league with Gary Johnson. It’s not been so easy in recent years but you have to believe the good times will come again at some point.
First Game: Swindon Town in 1998
Favourite Player: Terry Skiverton
Favourite Game: vs Sheffield United in the League One Playoff Semi Final
Favourite Memory: Going back to Wembley for the second time and seeing us win
What does Yeovil Town FC mean to me? It’s family. It’s Warren Patmore. It’s Tony Pennock against Cardiff. It’s Tony Pennock against Blackpool. It’s Nicky Nicky Nicky Nicky Crittenden. It’s 5-1 against Ru$den. It’s Carl Alford scoring biceys. It’s Stanno coming “fucking miles”. It’s Demba’s hatty against Southport. It’s being top from September and scoring 100 goals on the way to promotion. It’s Kevin Gall at Rochdale. It’s King Gary. It’s Pablo Bastiannini. It’s Lee Trundle in Skivo’s pocket. It’s Liverpool in the fog. Fuck Harry Kewell. It’s Thommo keeping us in League One. It’s Phil Jevons on pens. It’s Russell Slade somehow getting us to Wembley. They’ve only gone and done it. It’s wondering how an earth we got Chris Cohen. It’s Skivo taking the reins. It’s Nathan Jones’ stepover. It’s Darren Way driving round the pitch on a mobility scooter. It’s the Return of the King. It’s Ed Upson Day. It’s the best goal ever scored at Wembley. It’s Millwall (A). It’s Watford (A). It’s United needing to bring on Di Maria. It’s back-to-back relegations. It’s Paul Sturrock and a never-ending injury crisis. “We’re fucked.” It’s Darren Way keeping us up. It’s anyone not aiming for the play offs not being here. It’s 8-2. It’s letting a three goal lead slip. It’s Mambos after relegation. It’s Darren Sarll making us believe again. It’s Lee Collins. It’s Assets of Community Value. It’s takeover drama. It’s the hope that kills you.
It’s joyous, infuriating, hilarious, brilliant, tragic and has everything a good love story should.
