Yeovil Town delivered a masterclass at Huish Park on Saturday, tearing through Boston United in an emphatic 6-0 victory.

The Glovers demonstrated the lethal attacking flair and clinical precision that Billy Rowley—and the players themselves—knew was brewing.

Speaking after the final whistle, James Daly couldn’t hide his pride after playing a pivotal role in one of Yeovil’s most complete performances of the season.

Reflecting on the sheer dominance of the six-goal haul, Daly revealed that a result of this magnitude had been coming for weeks.

“We’ve been speaking about it all week, actually,” Daly explained. “The gaffer’s been onto us really to say, ‘Look, if we’re at our level, we can put a few goals past these.’ That’s no disrespect to Boston, it’s just where I think we are. We’ve been creating a lot of chances in recent weeks, so it was just putting it together and having that killer instinct.”

Despite a brief period early on where Boston goalkeeper Cameron Chadwick made a couple of crucial saves to hold the hosts at bay, Yeovil remained remarkably composed.
Once Ryan Jones opened the floodgates, the Glovers unleashed a devastating blitz, slotting home four goals in just 12 frantic minutes to effectively wrap up the contest before half time.

For Daly, the team’s ability to blow opposition sides away stems from the quality and unity within the squad. “We’ve got so much quality in this team, and it’s probably the best dressing room in terms of quality that I’ve ever been in,” he noted. “We all know what we’re capable of, and when we put things together like that, we know we can do that.”

Daly’s own contribution was capped off with a wonderful strike, set up by a trademark sweeping diagonal pass from Jones.
Daly held his position wide to exploit the vacated space before firing clinically into the corner. “Jonesy is so good at coming inside the pitch and opening the game up for us,” Daly said. “As soon as he’s got the ball, I know to stay wide and create space. It came to me and I just thought, ‘Right, I need a shot here,’ and it went in the corner. I was ecstatic to get off the mark.”

While the spotlight naturally falls on the goal scorers, Daly was quick to point out that the transformation in Yeovil’s fortunes—a stark contrast to their struggles earlier in the year—is down to a collective effort stretching far beyond the pitch. He paid tribute to the backroom staff, including the kit team and back-office staff, who give the players the foundation to express themselves freely.

“It’s a team effort. This isn’t a fluke; this is work we’ve been building on for months,” Daly added. “We know how to replicate it, which is the main thing.”

With momentum firmly on their side, Yeovil Town will look to carry this ruthless edge forward as the season progresses.
