Yeovil Town Women FC (Page 2)

The latest news from Yeovil Town Womens FC on the Gloverscast, including fixture news, match reports, photography and transfer news.

Yeovil Town women have been drawn away at Wells City in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round.

Wells are also the Glovers’ first League game of the new campaign too.

In an even odder, quirk, the FA release suggests that “All ties must be played on Sunday 7 September 2025. Kick-off 2.00pm, unless otherwise mutually agreed”…

Which means that Yeovil Women’s league game against… Wells City will have to be postponed.

Either way, on September 7th, Yeovil will play Wells away with either (or both) league points or a place in the 2nd Qualifying round on the line.

The fixtures are out for Yeovil Town’s Women’s side ahead of the 2025/26 season

Starting the new season off with a trip to Wells City and finishing with a home tie against… our claret and blue friends down the road, W*ymouth.

With the division down to just six teams from 10 last season, it does mean a much shorter fixture list.

The league have suggested that due to the withdrawal of a quintet of sides from those originally listed – Helston, Sticker, Plympton, Banwell and Honiton – these sides will take on a slightly different fixture schedule, we’ve asked the league for clarification on this.

The season gets underway on Sunday 7th September, coming to a conclusion in mid November.

There will naturally be cup matches in the County, League and FA Cup early qualifying rounds to squeeze in there too.

The season marks the start of the Dave Court era of management, after he took over the reigns following the departure of Paul Knight after the conclusion of last season.

The team’s FA Full Time page can be found here with fixture details and grids and even a little predictor function.

We’ll endeavour to keep the below table updated as the season progresses, and as ever, if anyone is planning on taking in a Yeovil Women’s game and can share any imagery or details, we’d be very grateful.

Yeovil Town have announced David Court as their new first team manager on a one-year deal, with an option for a further year.

Court replaces Paul Knight who left at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Court holds coaching badges up to a UEFA A License and has previously worked for Dorchester Sports, Andover Town, as well as holding Academy positions with both the Glovers and Torquay in recent years.

Yeovil recently announced that Yeovil Town Women FC will operate under the control of Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.

Described as an “exciting and bold new chapter for women’s football in Yeovil”, the club have set out their ambitions for the next three seasons.
There is a desire to become the “premier women’s football club” in the South West and YTFC have explicitly stated their targets to be achieved by 2028 include, achieving promotion to Tier 5 by end of 2025/26 and Tier 4 (National League) by 2027/28.

Certainly a high pressure start to Court’s tenure in charge.

The Glovers recently unveiled a new plan for the future of the women’s team which including integrating more youth players and increasing sponsorship.

Yeovil will once again be in the South West Regional Football League – Division 1 South for the coming season

Yeovil Town Women have had their division and opponents confirmed for the 2025/26 season following the FA’s League Allocations were released.

Like last year the Glovers will play in the South West Regional Football League – Divison 1 South.

This is the equivalent of Tier 6 in the Women’s game.

Some new opponents this season including Appledore – which sounds like a dessert Harry Potter might eat – Banwell and Wells City.

Fixture specifics, dates, venues and all that jazz will follow in time.

Yeovil Town Women have announced that First Team Manger, Paul Knight has left the club by mutual consent.

The women played their final game of the season on Sunday and led the side to third place in the South West Regional Womens Football League Division One South, following their promotion campaign in 2023/24.

The Women’s side had a record of 11 wins, six defeats and just one draw in the 18 games this season, with a highlight of the campaign being leading the side a 7-1 win at Huish Park against local rivals W*ymouth.

In a statement, the club said that they were still fully committed to investing in the next chapter of the women’s team and thanked Paul for his work over the past two seasons.

Glovers thump W*ymouth in Huish Park sunshine

Yeovil Town Women won their penultimate league match of the season in emphatic style, beating rivals W*ymouth by seven goals to one at Huish Park. After no football for over a month, Paul Knight’s side hit seven past a tame Terras outfit, to leapfrog Weston-super-Mare into third in the Regen Arable Division One South.

The Glovers did not begin the derby as they meant to go on, as after a mere five minutes W*ymouth took the lead courtesy of Ellie Porter.

Despite the early setback Yeovil responded almost immediately, as Zoe Ball equalised in the seventh minute. Zara Hunt saw her effort blocked before unselfishly playing the ball across for Ball who finished with ease.

After a period of prolonged early pressure, the Glovers were rewarded via Terri Will, who headed in from a corner to give the hosts the lead.

An eventful opening half an hour was topped off with Yeovil extending their lead to 3-1, as Jodie Cornwall’s classy finish to the left of the W*ymouth GK provided daylight.

Following a dominant first half display, Yeovil went in at the break 3-1 up.
The opening stages of the second period mirrored the action-packed nature of the first, as Yeovil went 6-1 up within thirteen minutes.
In the 52nd minute, Mollie Childs’ audacious chip gave Yeovil four, after clever play from Hunt once again.

Four minutes later, Yeovil’s penalty specialist and goalkeeper Emily Hall made no mistake from the spot following a rash W*ymouth challenge in the penalty area.

Moments later Cornwall earned her second of the afternoon, as she finished following a Yeovil free-kick.
The Glovers’ dominant display on the Huish Park turf continued throughout the half, as youngster Ceyda Fordrey struck the woodwork on the hour mark.

Jodie Cornwall’s perfect afternoon in front of goal was complete in the 83 rd minute, as her impressive finish saw her net a dream hat-trick in the derby.

The match finished 7-1, as Yeovil Town Women put on an almighty show for the 298 supporters at Huish Park.
Yeovil Town Women return to action for the final time this season as they host Helston on Sunday 4 th May 14:00 KO at Alvington.

Delight in Devon for Glovers.

Yeovil Town Women extended their winning run to four games after their victory over Honiton Town at the weekend. Second half goals from Terri Will and Hannah Hughes ensured that all three points were taken back to Yeovil.

Three changes were made to the Glovers’ team, as starts were handed to Georgia Chant, Zoe Ball and Keira Ealson-Taylor, who made her full debut for the club.
In a half which contained few clear-cut chances for either side, Yeovil had the better of the opportunities. It took 25 minutes for the Glovers to produce their first meaningful effort, as Becky Miles crossed in for Zara Hunt, who saw her effort fly over the crossbar.
Despite having threatening spells in the first half, in which Hughes, Hunt and Miles combined well, Yeovil struggled to break down a defiant Honiton side on a particularly narrow pitch.
The teams went in at the break with the score goalless. Despite the woes of the first half it took the Glovers just nine minutes to break the deadlock in the second period. Terri Will headed into the back of the net from a corner, to give Yeovil the lead and score her first league goal of the season.

The points were all but sealed 15 minutes later as Hughes doubled Yeovil’s lead after being fed by substitute Les Spearing with 20 minutes left to play.

Yeovil continued to push throughout the half, as Miles and Hunt attempted to get themselves on the scoresheet but it remained 2-0.

A resilient performance from the Glovers saw the match finish 2-0, giving Yeovil their tenth clean sheet of the campaign and raising them to second place in the Regen Arable Division One South.

FULL TIME: HONITON TOWN 0-2 YEOVIL TOWN

The player of the match was awarded to Georgia Chant for her solid performance in the backline.

Yeovil Town Women goalkeeper coach and assistant manager Tony Rich spoke after the match;
“I’m really pleased”, Tony began. “The first half was hard work, it’s a small, heavy pitch with no width and it didn’t suit our game. They were very hard to break down, we had plenty of possession but could not capitalise on that final pass, but in the second half we showed
patience and perseverance and it paid off.

“We created numerous chances in the second half and probably should have won by a couple of goals more, but a great header by Terri and a good finish by Hannah and we’re really pleased.
Tony looked ahead to next week’s clash with Weston-super-Mare.

“It doesn’t help us the fact we haven’t played for a couple weeks, continuity is key in football, so it’s good to get a game today and next week. Hopefully on a pitch that we can play football on, we can play our passing game, play to our strengths and hopefully we can take
the game to Weston and come out on top.”

Yeovil Town Women return to action next Sunday 9th March, as they travel to The Optima Stadium to face Weston-super-Mare 14:00 KO.

Yeovil Town Ladies will play their rearranged fixture against W*ymouth on the main Huish Park pitch.

The original game, scheduled to play at Somerton had been postponed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ on Sunday 16th of February.

The rearranged game has been confirmed for Sunday 27th April, the day after Yeovil’s Men host Sutton United in their final home game of the season.

At time of writing, no kick off time has been confirmed, the rest of the season’s games have kicked off at 2pm.

Tickets are not yet on sale for the game, but we’ll let you know when they do become available.

The Glovers won the reverse fixture at the Bob Lucas 3-1, and currently sit three points ahead of their local rivals in the league.

Glovers reign supreme on derby day.

Yeovil Town Women came out on top against rivals W*ymouth at the weekend, after a 3-1 victory at the Bob Lucas Stadium. The result saw the Glovers leapfrog the Dorset outfit into second in the Regen Arable Division One South.
Paul Knight made three changes to the starting eleven as Mollie Childs, Laura Wensley and Ceyda Fordrey came into the team.
Yeovil started the stronger of the two sides, as within the opening minute, youngster Fordrey came inches away from giving the visitors a dream start, with her effort striking the woodwork.

Moments later, W*ymouth goalkeeper Issy Heybourne was called into action for the first time, as Chloe Davenport had an effort on goal.
The Glovers’ bright start was rewarded in the 8th minute as Fordrey opened the scoring. She classily took the ball round Heybourne and finished into an empty net, gifting Yeovil the dream start they sought.
Following the goal, the hosts began to grow into the affair. In the 16 th minute Lucy Roberts forced the first meaningful save out of Emily Hall via a free kick, which the Yeovil goalkeeper parried away confidently.

Despite Yeovil’s positive start, with ten minutes left of the half, Weymouth levelled up proceedings, as Annie Redding converted.
An admirable response to the equaliser saw the Glovers retake the lead on the stroke of half time, courtesy of midfielder Abbie Carslake. Despite the sprawling efforts of W*ymouth’s defenders, Carslake’s effort ended up in the back of the net, to restore Yeovil’s advantage
going into the break.

The opening exchanges of the second half stood in stark contrast from that of the first, as neither side took control at the beginning of the second period.
The hosts produced the first scare of the half, as club captain Charlie Wilson struck a first time effort, forcing Hall into her first involvement of the half, as she impressively tipped the ball over the bar.

Despite the Terras’ pressure Yeovil defended gallantly and doubled the advantage on the 70 minute mark via a devastating counter attack. Zara Hunt collected the ball and drove towards goal before finishing in clinical fashion, to give Yeovil daylight on derby day.
A dream debut. 3-1.

The Glovers did not let up and came close to rubbing salt in W*ymouth wounds, as the crossbar was struck in the 77 th minute.
A strong display in both boxes from Yeovil Town Women saw the match finish 3-1 in their favour, as the Glovers earned their first win of 2025 in stunning style.
The result saw Yeovil swap places with W*ymouth in the league, now sitting in second place with 19 points.

Paul Knight’s side return to action on Sunday 19 th January, as they travel to Highburn Athletic in the Women’s senior cup.

Perfect Plympton Pip Past Glovers

Yeovil Town women suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of table toppers Plympton, who maintained their perfect record despite a gallant performance from the Glovers.

Paul Knight made three changes to the side who thrashed Honiton last time out before the Christmas break, as Abbie Vernon, Becky Miles and Terri Will returned to the starting eleven.

Despite scoring three goals and taking the game to the unbeaten visitors, Yeovil’s brave performance did not earn anything from the affair, with Plympton taking all three points. A brace from Samantha Metters as well as goals from Dionne Igalawuye and Elsa Finnegan
ensured that the visitors took all three points back to Devon and strengthened their bid for promotion to the Premier Division of the Regen Arable South West League system. Yeovil’s goal-scorers are unknown.

Yeovil Town Women now look ahead to their next league encounter as they travel to the Bob Lucas Stadium for a matchup against rivals W*ymouth. With W*ymouth sitting second in the league, one place above the Glovers, Yeovil will be desperate to make a statement on the
Dorset coast.
