Frank Nouble hailed Yeovil 2-0 win over Bath City as ‘brilliant’ and is happy to be scoring crucial goals in the Glovers quest to return to the National League.

It was wasn’t a classic afternoon at Huish Park, but it was a determined performance from Mark Cooper’s side, with Nouble playing an important part in both goals.

“[It was a] brilliant afternoon for us, result wise. And I think performance all round was good. [They’re a] tough team to play against, I thought Bath came with a game plan and I think it executed it quite well. I think early goal is what we planned to get and we got that. [There was] not much in it, but I think we controlled the game better than we did at their place.”

Nouble scored Yeovil’s second from point blank range, at an important time and the strike said how he enjoys a tap in: “I never get them type of goals. In my career, I’ve always been more of the player that creates a chance for someone else to then go and score a goal and for me to get a goal like that is really pleasing. I prefer them type of goals than, you know, a strike from outside the box or something like that and them type of goals, I really do appreciate, you know. Got in there in the right place, right time.

“It’s good to get these goals that I am getting because they’re crucial, crucial goals. You know, if we’re getting goals, winning 4 or 5-1 every week, they won’t feel the same, because they’re winning goals and they’re important goals. They mean a lot, So if it’s ten long may it continue and hopefully I can get to 15 and 20 if I get so lucky.”

Nouble’s brilliant pass to Michael Smith in the first half allowed the full back to put the ball on a silver platter for Jordan Young to open the scoring. He said: “At the beginning of the game we’re trying to give all energy and intensity as high as possible, but the opposition obviously play a part in that as well and I thought they started brightly, so it was quite hard to get involved in the game.

“But that is our game plan: to get certain players in certain positions, Youngy and Courtney Senior and myself behind Murphy to try execute an attack and luckily enough that move worked perfectly and then if we watch it back, it’s probably a good goal. Good passing move and obviously Young at the end finishing it well.”

The sponsor’s man of the match also waxed lyrical about Michael Smith (who doesn’t). “We’re lucky to have him. All the boys really appreciate him, you know, his professionalism. It’s the way he trains and plays the game. He’s never stressed and he’s a calming figure to see on the pitch. And he attacks, he’s very attacking fullback at his tender age. He wouldn’t mind me saying that. We’re very lucky to have him and long may it continue that he stays at this club.”

When asked about his move to Huish Park and the future, Nouble said there’s plenty more he wants to do for the Glovers: “I’ve been to a lot of clubs. I’ve had a lot of good times and some bad times as well, of course, but this is one of my favourite moves of course. I’ll definitely say that the job is not done yet and even this season, you know, if we do get promoted, which we plan on doing, that’s only maybe a third of the goals that I want to achieve at this club. I wanna get this club back to the EFL and I think that’s what everyone wants to do here. Slowly but surely. Hopefully we can keep pushing in the right direction.”

Despite not playing Taunton on New Year’s Eve, this week has been very Taunton-centric. Ian, Ben and Dave are back to talk about the signing of Dylan Morgan and we look ahead to the visit of Bath City this weekend.

Yeovil Town have confirmed the signing of Taunton’s attacking midfielder Dylan Morgan for an undisclosed fee.

The Welshman, who moved to the county town side from Swansea City’s youth ranks in the summer of 2022, missed the Peacocks’ 4-1 defeat at Huish Park and was heavily rumoured with a move to the Glovers with manager Rob Dray saying the player was subject to interest from a “a very local full-time club“.

Speaking about the departing player, Dray said: “Dylan again is someone who deserves his move to full-time football. He has been superb since he joined us and it’s been great watching him develop. I look forward to watching him develop even more in the future.

The Taunton X/Twitter account describes the deal as having been done for “an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old joins fellow ex-Peacocks’ players Jake Wannell and Jay Foulston in making the switch to Somerset’s premier club this season.

He has already scored five times in 19 appearances this season with his last goal coming on his final appearance in claret-and-blue in a 2-2 draw with Tonbridge Angels on December 23rd. He also netted a brace in a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture at Tonbridge back in September – so they’ll be pleased to see him coming back!

Morgan’s career began in the youth set-up at Southampton and then Forest Green Rovers before signing for Swansea in the summer of 2021 following a successful trial. He was released by the Swans and trialled with Taunton before signing permanently at the start of last season.

On this episode of the Glovers Past, Dave speaks to former Yeovil skipper François Zoko. ‘Uncle Zokes’ made more than 120 appearances for Yeovil between 2015 and 2019, scoring 28 goals!

It was a Boxing Day Bonanza at Huish Park, as Mark Cooper’s Glovers put four past Taunton in front of a record-breaking crowd. Here are Ian’s Conclusions from a packed Huish Park…

It was a day when everything clicked. From the outset, Yeovil were dominant yesterday. The Glovers controlled the ball brilliantly, the attacking play was free-flowing and, in the first half in particular, it felt like every attack could have been a goal. Defensively we were strong and controlled and it was the type of performance which clearly showed the gulf between the two teams. The early change saw Rhys Murphy come on much sooner than expected and his impact was devastating as the front four caused chaos for the Peacocks defence.

There were big performances across the pitch, in each department. Jake Wannell was in a wrestling match for the first half and was extremely impressive in not taking any bait against his former side. I thought Charlie Cooper had a great game in midfield, picking passes, making the play tick over and breaking things up. Alex Whittle, back in the side from injury, picked up where he left off. Morgan Williams, as reliable as they come. Frank Nouble was absolutely purring up front. His goal was well taken in a free-flowing move, but his assist for Michael Smith was something else. As was the performance from the right back…

Michael Smith. What else can be said about the man? He finally scored his goal, in front of the Thatchers Stand and his adoring congregation. He was relentless on the right hand side with pacey running, great deliveries into the box and was an overlapping outlet all afternoon. As I said in conclusion one, it all clicked. His partnership with Jordan Young on the right is a joy to watch on days like yesterday. This team is a result of some brilliant recruitment from Mark Cooper, but the decisions to bring in Joe Day and Smith have been game-changers for this squad.

It was great to see another record-breaking crowd at Huish Park. There was anticipation in the air upon arrival to Huish Park yesterday. The Ciderspace was packed, the Chairman was behind the bar and it was all hands on deck. A club that was on life-support this time last year, is absolutely thriving, with a wave of good-will and optimism behind it. With a performance like that, in front of a crowd of 6301, some casuals will have turned into die-hard Glovers! A great afternoon on and off the pitch for a club that is unrecognisable from 12 months ago.

6301 People in Huish Park, another NLS record. ? Gary Brown

Ten Points Clear. Results below Yeovil all went the right way and the gap – which was already big – has got even bigger. We’ve had the blip and come out of it on the other side looking strong and head into the new year with momentum again. We can go to Taunton with confidence, welcome Bath for another West Country derby and make another statement. You can’t help but look at the fixtures and feel confident. And now you’re gonna believe us…

Merry Christmas everyone! Santa’s a Glover, so he needed something to get him through Christmas morning. Kick off the day with a treat from us.

We’ve picked a Yeovil Town Christmas XI and Dave’s done a special quiz for Ian and Ben…

Thanks for all the support, listens and clicks through 2023! Have a wonderful day!
