Glovers’ defender Morgan Williams has said that the team are looking forward to renewing rivalries with W*ymouth on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the BBC after the Weekend’s game with Woking he said that he couldn’t wait for the game.

We’re happy to get the three points (against Woking) but we can focus on the big game on Tuesday night”

“I’m really excited, hopefully we do the performance we did today and get the three points.”

“Three points every week would be massive and beating W*ymouth would be massive for us”

Williams, who has played in just about every position across the back four says the team are taking the rest of the season game by game and is willing to play wherever the team needs in the hunt for the next three points.

Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll, is looking forward to renewing the derby rivalry with W*ymouth.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s game against Woking to the Gloverscast he said he was excited to give the fans a performance to be proud of.

They are brilliant games, I get quite nervous for them but that is because I know the importance of them.”

“That penalty shoot-out (in the FA Cup) was horrendous, I questioned my faith!

David (Oldfield, W*ymouth manager) has gone in there and he’s a very good coach, they will have a different energy and strategy in them, it will be a different contest.”

“They have closed the gap with us from previous years.
Last season we were heavily dominant, but we will have to make sure we are well recovered from Woking.”

Sarll was hopeful of a positive result not just for the fans, but also to avoid having to work the players on Wednesday – which just so happens to be his 39th birthday.

Great games and supporters just make sure everyone gets there safe and goes home safely.”

“Birthdays don’t exist in football seasons. I will be grateful to get there in the current climate, it’s my 21st season in professional football – I probably look 49!
I’ll soon be up for the big 4-0! The players bring cakes in, I don’t know if I will though.”

“If we don’t win on Tuesday, we’ll be in (on Wednesday) and I’ll get a barrage of abuse from my wife and then that comes back on to them.”

Tom Knowles, who has five goals so far this season.

The Football Association have confirmed the one-match suspensions of Mark Little and Tom Knowles.

Little was shown two yellow cards on Saturday against Woking, whilst Tom Knowles picked up his fifth booking of the season in the same game… his first one since mid-October.

Knowle’s booking has been listed as a “Time Wasting – Delaying the Restart” booking, hence Darren Sarll’s “dopey” comment post match.

With the Glovers having now completed 23 league games the ‘5-yellow card’ suspension rules has ended with those picking up their tenth still expected to miss two games.

Both Little and Knowles will be absent for the visit of W*ymouth on Tuesday night but will be available again at the weekend.

Yeovil Town have announced the loan signing of central defender Ben Barclay from National League leaders Stockport County.

Barclay, 25, joins the Glovers on a short term deal for a month and will be in the squad for the match against Woking.

Speaking the club’s official website, the former Brighton youngster said: “It’s all happened relatively quickly, I spoke to the manager a few days ago, he showed interest and I was open to coming out on loan and playing some football. I got here yesterday (Thursday) and I’m ready to go today (Friday).

“I’ve seen that the club has done well during the start of the season, obviously there’s been a little bit of a blip recently, but I want us to get back on track and climb back up the table.”

Barclay played the first half in Stockport County’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Glovers earlier in the season, but hasn’t featured in any games since County lost 1-0 to Rotherham in the FA Cup back in early December.

The Cup defeat is the only match he has started since Dave Challinor took over from Simon Rusk in Greater Manchester. Rusk and Barclay had worked together in the youth set-up at Barclay.

Indeed, it was Rusk who brought him to Stockport in the summer following his release from League One side Accrington Stanley, where he made 36 appearances in a two-season spell.

When Yeovil manager Darren Sarll faces the media this morning, we hope to receive an update on the fitness of captain Luke Wilkinson, who it is hoped will be back from a hamstring strain to for the trip to Woking, and midfielder-turned-defender Josh Staunton, who limped off in last weekend’s home defeat to Wrexham.

Welcome to Huish Park, Ben!

The Football Associations of England and Wales have announced a Wales C v England C game for March 30th, played at Caernarfon Town FC

The England C side has been known in previous incarnations as the ‘England Semi Pro XI’ or ‘National Game XI’ but is now mostly made up of full time professionals from the National League system

Yeovil Town have famously been well represented at international level during our previous stint in Non League but due to obvious reasons these games haven’t take place since the 2019/20 season.

England C Manager Paul Fairclough, who has managed Barnet no fewer tha five times, including last year will announce his squad soon, which could, in theory, include some Glovers.

The last squad, back in 2019 included no one over the age of 25 and had such names as former Yeovil players Kabongo Tshimanga and Brandon Goodship in.

They were captained by Laurence ‘Brother Of’ Maguire and were held to a 2-2 by their Welsh league counterparts

Anyone who fancies seeing Charlie Wakefield, Tom Knowles or Jordan Barnett wearing the Three Lions needs to start the “Are you watching Paul Fairclough” chants pretty soon!

Former Yeovil Town striker Joe Quigley has spoken as a Chesterfield player for the first time confirming that promotion was the aim for league leaders, but also that the deal taking him from Huish Park to the Technique Arena had been ongoing for a little while.

Speaking to Chesterfield YouTube channel, in an interview recorded of Friday, he said:

“I spoke to the gaffer (James Rowe) a couple of days ago, and obviously I knew about it last week.

“So, it’s been a bit long trying to get it done, but now it’s done, I’m delighted to be here.”

The interview went on to speak about how much he was looking forward to playing for his new club and how he knew Jack Clarke from their time together at Yeovil last season.

Quigley missed the FA Trophy exit at the hands of lower league Needham Market due to “illness”.

Glovers’ boss Darren Sarll said not ten hours before Quigley’s move was announced that no offers had been accepted for any of the Glovers players during the month of January, so maybe the timelines don’t quite add up somewhere.

Following the 2-1 to Wrexham on SaturdaySarll said of the departing Quigley: “That’s the fourth forward I’ve sold (Hippolyte – Scunthorpe, Duffus – Morecambe and Lloyd – QPR) we obviously improve people, we try and improve people with our coaching but yeah, I’d have liked him today.”

Quigley scored 18 goals in 53 league appearances for the Glovers, including seven this season.

Yeovil will travel to Derbyshire to play Chesterfield on Saturday, February 26.

Yeovil Town’s Under-18s have progressed through to the final 16 of the ECFA’s Knockout College Cup following a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Truro and Penwith College.

Two of the goals were scored by Ollie Haste (pictured) with two other scorers and an own goal getting on the score sheet as well.

The young Glovers will play Merthyr Tydfil College in the next round, matches will be played on or before February 9th, with a potential final at Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster just four wins away.

Dan Moss. Picture courtesy of Mike Kunz.

Former Yeovil Town loan defender, Dan Moss has told the Gloverscast he will be forever grateful for his time at Huish Park and would keep an eye out for their results and cheer on his former club.

In an exclusive chat with Ben and Ian (which you can listen to below) he said: “I think I’m a Yeovil fan for life now. Even on Saturday, the game got called off for Leyton Orient so I was sat in my room and I had the Yeovil game on the radio. I’ll definitely be watching Yeovil’s results in the future.”

He spoke of the amount of learning he did whilst with the club, benefiting from his first loan spell in more areas that just on the pitch.

Now at Leyton Orient in the EFL he said how he’d look back on his time at Yeovil throughout his career and would be forever grateful for the support of the Glovers faithful.

“I can’t say a bad word about Yeovil, I’ve loved every single minute of it, what it has taught me as a player, I cant put it into words. My first senior loan, I’ve learned so much”

 You can hear our chat with Dan on the player below and in all the usual places you get the Gloverscast. We chat Weymouth FA Cup penalty shenanigans, having half of H̶o̶l̶l̶y̶w̶o̶o̶d̶ Wrexham baying for his blood as well as those huge FA Cup ties against Stevenage and Bournemouth.

All the best at Leyton Orient and beyond, Dan from everyone at the Gloverscast.

Huddersfield Town left back Jaheim Headley has made his first appearance for his parent club since the end of his loan spell at Huish Park

Headley, who arrived on a ‘short term’ deal just before Christmas was named in a Huddersfield B side who took on Salford on Wednesday

The Terriers noted that his initial spell was due to run until January 15th but he was not included in either squads for the Southend or Needham Market games.

Headley started the FA Trophy game against Woking before being an unused sub against Torquay on Boxing Day as well as for the FA Cup against Bournemouth.

Whilst his return was never confirmed, I think it’s fair to say his short stint in Somerset is over.

Thanks for the assist for Adi Yussuf’s equaliser against Woking, Jaheim.

Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll talks to BBC Radio Somerset

Yeovil Town manager  Darren Sarll admitted his “didn’t know” if he would be able to strengthen his squad as his side crashed out of the FA Trophy at the hands of Needham Market on Saturday.

Speaking to BBC Somerset following the game, he admitted he would like to add more players, but that it wasn’t up to him.

The interview showed clear signs of the boss’ frustration at not being able to bolster a side which remains eight points off the National League play-off places with games in hand over teams above him.

He said: “I have tried to conduct myself with dignity because I am not an excuse maker.

“We showed Needham respect with the team we put out, the only one I rested was Tom (Knowles) having been out for a while.

“At this time of year, you usually get that nice influx of new bodies and new characters in the changing rooms, and today is probably the first time I have looked at it and thought we could do with some experience and character.

“I don’t think Mark (Little) will feel like he’s fit enough to really impose himself and Reuben (Reid) is probably the same.

“It’s been a horrible week professionally  and personally and it didn’t get any easier today.”

The Glovers were without (deep breath):

  • Luke Wilkinson – hamstring injury which the manager said today meant he was “two or three weeks away” from returning;
  • Dan Moss – recalled from his loan spell by parent club Millwall;
  • Joe Quigley – illness;
  • Charlie Wakefield – had not trained this week;
  • Jaheim Headley – loan expired today and (we assume) he is back with Huddersfield Town;
  • Dillon Barnes – missing from the last two squad and presumably returned to QPR after his loan.

Then there is also youth team players Ollie Haste, who played – and scored – for the Under 18s, and Toby Stephens who absence was unexplained, but who hasn’t featured since his loan spell at Hemel Hempstead.

The absentees meant Sarll could only panne four substitutes against Needham Market, one of whom was defender Mark Little who was making his competitive debut for the club having been missing since pre-season.

Sarll admitted he wanted to add players of a certain calibre, but didn’t know if he could.

He said: “These young people are going to have peaks and troughs, I never got too carried away on a winning run because I know how football can change quickly.

”The biggest disappointment in today’s performance  was the lack of personality, we have to keep working.

“It does need a freshen up with some new bodies and I’m sure if we can do that, I’m sure we will and, if we can’t, we will carry on trying to improve what we have.

“I have not got the answers, I wish I did. It’s something that will always go to board level. My job is to always ask for more and keep asking and reminding because no supporter wants to come and watch that standard of performance.

“When I can’t be on the training pitch with them, there’s been a continuum of poor performances when I have not been hands on and that is something I need to look at.

“I need to look at if there’s an impact needs to be made in the backroom staff like (now departed assistant manager) Terry (Skiverton) made and whether we can punch it, it’s just such a shame we have performed so badly after building some credit, we have thrown all that away unfortunately.

“Bringing in another young one is not what we need right now, we need someone who will leave a little bit of a mark in the dressing room where the players look each other in the eye.

“By next week, we will not have Luke (Wilkinson) back but we will have (Charlie) Wakefield back. We lack a real thrust when Knowles and Wakefield aren’t out there and I’ve learnt that the hard way today.”

It is also hoped that full confirmation of Sonny Blu Lo-Everton’s loan extension will be confirmed this week as this FA Trophy tie represented the last of his current spell at Huish Park.
