Former Glovers defender/midfielder/yellow card collector Alex Bradley has signed for Southern Premier League side Tamworth.

Dropping down a few levels, Bradley will be playing against the likes of Needham Market.

Originally joining on loan from Harrogate before making the switch to Huish Park permanent in January 2021.

Bradley played just over 50 games for the Glovers across all competitions, scoring just one league goal in a 1-1 draw against Notts County.

All the best at Tamworth, Alex

Former Yeovil Town striker Reuben Reid has joined Southern League side Weston-Super-Mare ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Reid was released from the Glovers at the end of last season after 18-months back at Huish Park.

In total, he scored six league goals in 50 league appearances during his second spell at the club, he won’t have long before he faces his former club, Yeovil are scheduled for a trip to Weston-Super-Mare on July 30th in a pre-season friendly.

The 33-year old told the WSM website;

“Approaching the biggest crossroads in my life certainly from a career perspective of the last 18 years, everything about this decision and opportunity has just felt ‘right’.

“I’m grateful and humbled by the manager’s pursuit, approach and eventual opportunity he has given me for myself and family.

“At this stage in my career, I want to be a part of something exciting and progressive. After speaking to and confiding with a solid friend of mine in Scott Laird, I realised that this is exactly what I need.”

All the best at Weston, Reuben!

Midfielder Ed Upson, who had been linked with a sensational return to the Glovers this summer, has signed for Isthmian League side Stowmarket Town.

Speaking exclusively to the Gloverscast, Chris Hargreaves had confirmed he had had a conversation with Upson about a return, but was giving nothing away about his chances of a return.

The move marks a return to Suffolk, Ed’s home town of Bury St Edmunds is close to his new club.

The transfer sees him drop down to just below the National League North/South level, which considering he was plying his trade at League Two level last season is quite a drop.

Best of luck, Ed!

New signing striker Ollie Hulbert is looking forward to reuniting with his former academy coach Chris Hargreaves after becoming his first signing as Yeovil Town manager.

The 19-year-old, who was released by the League One new boys at the end of last season, has agreed a one-year deal with an option for a second.

He worked alongside the Glovers’ boss in the youth team at the Memorial Stadium.

Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, he said: “The move has been in the works for a while now and I just can’t wait to get started.

The gaffer spoke to me and said what he wanted to get done and as soon as I heard about it, it was an opportunity I could not really turn down.

It is massively important to have a relationship with the manager because he knows my game, what my strengths are and what I need to improve on, so hopefully he can help me develop this season and going forward.

I have always known the size of the club and what the ambitions are and hopefully I can hit the ground running and help the club get back to where it wants to be.

The forward had loan spells at Gloucester City and Hereford in the National League North last season scoring nine times in 32 games.

He is hoping this first taste of action in men’s football, including playing alongside former Yeovil favourite Kevin Dawson at Gloucester, will equip him for life in the National League.

Hulbert added: “It was a really good learning curve in my career, I played with some really good players like Kevin Dawson, who I am sure the fans here will remember, and they helped me learn and progress and hopefully I can carry that on to next season.

My game is trying to mix it up a bit by coming short and linking play, but also having the ability to be able to stretch the game and get in behind and hopefully scoring some goals while I am doing that.”

Hargreaves said he hoped his former scholar would be a good addition to the frontline at Huish Park following the departures of strikers Reuben Reid and Adi Yussuf at the end of last season.

He told ytfc.net: “Ollie is a young player with potential who is now ready to kick on. He will be a welcome addition to our squad.

“I know him well from our time at Rovers and look forward to working with him again.”

Yeovil Town have confirmed that former Eastleigh and Torquay Under 18s manager Chris Todd is the club’s new assistant manager.

Chris Hargreaves confirmed he would be adding to his coaching staff and this represents his first appointment.

Speaking to YTFC.net he said; “I’m very excited. It’s a new challenge and when I spoke to Chris, we had a good conversation. We discussed the future of the football club and I wanted to be a part of that.

“I hope the fans are excited about the new journey that we’re on together. I will give 110% daily, as I know Chris will and the rest of the background staff.

“This is a good group and we’re trying to make them successful, if they’re successful the Club is successful and it’s a good moment for everyone.”

Todd was part of the England Colleges coaching system this season so has recently worked with the Glovers’ Ollie Haste already.

He represented Exeter, Torquay, Hereford and Forest Green Rovers as player with coaching and management roles at Gloucester and Eastleigh since.

He was also diagnosed with a form of blood cancer in 2008, thankfully he recovered, he’s an author and an actor with a credit in a World War Two film and he’s performed in a national choir, is there anything this man can’t do!?

A quick look through the history books and I can only find one Chris Todd appearance against Yeovil as a player…

Torquay United’s 4-1 FA Cup win in 2008 which was shown live on the BBC, he scored the equaliser for the Gulls, cheers for that Chris.

Welcome to the club, Chris!

Matt Worthington ?Mike Kunz.

Yeovil Town’s longest current servant, Matt Worthington has extended his contract with the Glovers until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Worthington has made more than 125 appearances in the green and white of the Glovers including over 40 this season across all competitions – the most he’s managed in any single season.

Speaking to YTFC.net he, and manager Chris Hargreaves, said how delighted they were to get the deal done confirming thay the midfielder had other options.

Commenting after his stay was confirmed, the midfielder said; “I’m delighted to sign a new deal to stay at this club once again.

“We’ve got a few weeks to go, but I’m already looking forward to getting back out there with the lads and doing all we can for the fans.”

Manager Chris Hargreaves also added, “It’s brilliant that Matt has agreed to sign for us. He is a player I feel the fans identify to and relate with.

“He had offers elsewhere, but it was Matt’s passion for the football club that drove this move, I’m really delighted he’ll be with us next season.”

We at the Gloverscast are delighted you’re staying, Matt!

Transfer rumour season has arrived!!!

Tony Lee scores for Poole ? @TonyLee28

Yeovil Town have been linked with Poole Town striker Tony Lee by the Bournemouth Echo.

Echo Journalist Jack Tanner claims that the Glovers are ‘strong suitors’ for the front man, suggesting that Torquay United may well lead the race for his signature.

According to the Echo, Poole were requesting a ‘five figure’ fee for his services and that other clubs including Woking (?), Halifax and Grimsby were also tracking the striker.

Lee is still contracted to Poole for the upcoming season after the 25-year old scored 47 goals in 48 games over the past two seasons.

Max Evans. ? Mike Kunz.

Yeovil Town Goalkeeper Max Evans has confirmed his contract extension until the end of the upcoming 2022/23 season.

Evans, 20, was listed on the end of season ‘retained list’ as being part of the squad for next season, but we today got confirmation of the one-year extension.

Evans made just one league appearance last season starting in the 1-0 win away at Altrincham under caretaker boss, Josh Staunton.

He also played in the FA Trophy and Somerset Premier Cup and will once again push Grant Smith for the number 1 shirt this season.

Good to have you back on board, Max

Yeovil Town has announced supporter and businessman Stuart Robins has become a shareholder and board member at the club.

The season ticket holder for the past 15 years becomes the first person to join the club’s board after chairman Scott Priestnall announced his intention to bring in new directors more than a month ago.

Stuart Robins, who has been appointed to the board at Huish Park.

In a statement, Mr Robins, whose uncle is former club chairman Gerry Lock, and daughter is BBC Somerset commentator Sheridan Robins, said he had “significant experience in growing and developing successful businesses” predominantly in the telecommunications business.

He added: “I want to use that experience to help provide the resources necessary for (manager) Chris Hargreaves to return us to the Football league as soon as we can, and in a sustainable way.

I have a lot to learn about the football business and I am really looking forward to doing that and working with everyone at Huish Park.

The cub’s statement confirms that he will become a director and shareholder of the club which presumably means Mr Robins has invested in the club, although no details are given around the level of that investment.

Chairman Priestnall said: “Bringing Stuart in to the club can only be a positive move for us. Not only is he a lifelong supporter, but he brings with him a wealth of business experience.

When I said I wanted to formulate a board that could bring about a shared vision for the club’s future, I could not have wished for anyone more passionate and dedicated to seeing the club succeed as Stuart.”

Who is Stuart Robins?

Born in Yeovil, he was educated at Buckler’s Mead and worked for Post Office Telecommunications, now BT, having left school.

During his school days, he trained with Yeovil Town under manager Stan Harland which he had supported since his parents first took him to the club’s former Huish stadium from the age of ten, and later went on to play for Ilminster Town.

Following that, he moved to Australia in 1980 working in the telecommunications industry in Australia which ended with a role as Managing Director of a joint venture between UK-based Systems Reliability and Telecom Australia, returning to join the UK arm in 1992 following the merger.

During his time Down Under, his mother would send him cuttings from the Western Gazette newspaper to keep him in touch with the club.

After Systems Reliability was acquired by Canadian firm TSB International three years later, he transferred to Toronto in 1995 and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Four years later, he returned to the UK and later was involved in a management buy-out of what was then TSB’s European division which was rebranded, Nu Holdings Group, becoming the largest distributor IT products from a major US firm.

Robins’ appointment to the board follows the departure of Glenn Collis as a director last month, a move which coincided with Priestnall declaring his plan to assemble a new board.

Speaking last week after he club sold its Huish Park stadium and land around it in a £2.8m deal with South Somerset District Council, Priestnall said he would be “announcing appointments” to the board over the next week.

He added: “The new board will have a combination of specialist football operations, a voice for supporters and a wealth of experience in business, that will come together and help shape the future of Yeovil Town.”

Former chief executive Martyn Starnes has become a regular fixture at Huish Park in recent weeks and therefore seems likely to be an announcement at some point.
