The Glovers bounced back from FA Cup heartbreak in convincing fashion with a thumping 3-0 win away at Wealdstone! In a day full of goals, let’s see what else went on across the National League…
We begin in the Midlands, where Solihull Moors inflicted league leaders Barnet’s first defeat since early September in a 4-3 thriller. The visitors took the lead within 12 minutes, however Solihull ramped up the performance and led 4-1 heading into the final 10 minutes; two late goals for the Bees weren’t enough to stop the hosts from taking the three points.
Tuesday’s hosts Tamworth made it 5 league wins in their last 7 games in a 3-2 win over Woking, former Glover Dale Gorman’s goal not enough to salvage anything for the visitors, while there were two 4-0 wins for both Dagenham & Redbridge and York City, over AFC Fylde and Ebbsfleet United respectively.
Oldham Athletic jumped above rivals Rochdale with their 3-1 away win at Sutton United, and also closed ground on Gateshead, as they drew away at Altrincham in a 2-2 battle. Forest Green Rovers left it late to take all three points at home against Braintree Town, with the Braintree socials admin crying foul for the Kyle McAllister winner (I’ll let you look it up if you fancy seeing it).
In a big result for the hosts, Aldershot Town came from behind to defeat Eastleigh in a 2-1 result, while Maidenhead United and Hartlepool United had to share the points after a 1-1 draw. In the televised 5:30pm fixture, Rochdale were defeated at home in a 1-0 defeat to Southend United courtesy of Josh Walker, and in the final game of the day, FC Halifax Town defeated 10-man Boston United on their travels, courtesy of a 1st minute goal from former Glover Andrew Oluwabori.
