Yeovil Town came from behind to beat Sherborne Town in their second pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

Goals from defenders Morgan Williams and Jake Wannell in the second half helped the Glovers turn a 1-0 deficit into a second win of the campaign against the Wessex League Premier Division side, who play four tiers below them in the football pyramid.

Much like the opening game against Exmouth Town four days earlier, manager Mark Cooper made plenty of changes across the two halves of the game, with trialists and members of the youth team used throughout.

The defensive quintet of goalkeeper Matt Gould, Lewys Twamley, Finn Cousin Dawson, Kyle Ferguson and Corey Koerner started the first half, alongside youngster Ollie Hughes.

It was all square at 0-0 at Raleigh Grove despite multiple chances falling the way of striker Harvey Greenslade among others.

Three first half trialists were all recognisable from the weekend with midfielder Teo Kurtaran and strikers Kieran Edworthy and Abu Kanu all getting a go from the start. Read more about the background of the trialists – here.

At the break, only Greenslade and Josh Sims remained on the pitch, nine other changes were made, including the introduction of former Bristol Rovers’ midfielder Luke McCormick representing the trialist family also.

There was no place in the squad for the scorer of the winner against Exmouth, Tahvon Campbell, or Jevani Brown who had been spotted as part of ‘trialist watch’ whilst midfielder Jacob Maddox remains absent of the contracted cohorts.

It was the hosts, that actually took the lead on 53 minutes before Morgan Williams got on the end of a Brett McGavin corner just after the hour.

In the final ten minutes it was some nice link up play between Charlie Cooper and Jake Wannell which saw the skipper finish off the comeback to join his central defensive partner on the score sheet.

The Glovers will now head to Hardenhuish Park, the home of Chippenham Town on Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
