Yeovil Town make the short trip north to Hartlepool this weekend and the man in the middle will be Dean Watson, a referee we have seen before, but only in the north of the country.

He took charge of the 1-1 draw away at Chesterfield (yes, that’s the north!) during the relegation season from the National League, Ryan Law salvaging a point with a header on that day.

More recently, he was also at the Shay when Yeovil lost 1-0 to Halifax thanks to an early Angelo Capello goal, Alex Whittle and FC-D were both booked on that occasion.

On the whole, Mr Watson has been one of the more lenient officials, in eight games across the National League and Premier League reserve leagues and cups, he’s issued 29 yellow cards, with 16 of those coming in two feisty encounters.

He’s yet to offer anyone a red card and has only pointed to the penalty spot, once.

He will be assisted by Simon Robinson and Jack Neild with David Jones looking after the dug outs.

Dom Bernard offers Mr Watson some tips on keeping his shorts up high.
