Midfielder Luke McCormick has been confirmed as Yeovil Town’s captain for the upcoming National League Premier Division season.
Defender Joe Gubbins, one of the 14 summer signings to arrive at Huish Park, has been named as vice-captain.
In a statement posted on the club’s social media on Monday, the new skipper said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be named captain of this football club. Yeovil Town is a special club and I am looking forward to representing our fans with passion and pride on and off the pitch.
“All the boys and I are ready and raring to go and we’ll see you on Saturday at Scunthorpe.”
McCormick has taken the armband for all of the club’s pre-season friendlies with midfielder Zain Westbrooke and Gubbins taking it when he has been substituted, suggesting there is a definite ‘leadership group’ being formed.

Great decision. He is very committed to the club
Good luck, skipper. Absolutely the right choice.
