Joe Day has joined Cheltenham Town in a player-coach role, following a successful season long loan last season with Yeovil Town.

Day joined the Glovers after the start of last season, on a loan from Newport County that helped facilitate Olly Thomas’ move to the Welsh outfit.

The 33 year old goalkeeper made 40 appearances last season, keeping 15 clean sheets en route to the National League South title. There were hopes that Day would be returning to the club on a permanent basis, but with Yeovil having made their moves within the goalkeeping department, with the arrivals of Ollie Wright and Matt Gould, it seems there is no space for Day.

Day reunites with former manager Michael Flynn, having made 250+ appearances under Flynn during their time together at Newport.

Best of luck to you Joe!
