National League side Dover Atheltic will start the 2021/22 season bottom of the table on -12 points, it has been confirmed by the FA.

Non-League journalist Ollie Bayliss tweeted confirmation, that nearly a dozen sides had lost appeals following charges of failing to fulfill fixtures during the season that has just come to a conclusion.

Ten of those sides originated from the National League North and South and have been handed fines and suspended points deductions, meanwhile Dover’s orginial punishment of 12 points and £40,000 fine has been solidified.

Dover haven’t kicked a ball in anger since losing 3-1 to Yeovil Town in January.

Defender Morgan Williams has said he is looking to “put a mark” at Yeovil Town having joined the club permanently.

The 21-year-old, who had two loan spells at Huish Park whilst with Coventry City, became the club’s first signing of the summer having been announced on Monday.

Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, he said: “It is a fresh start for me and I really want to put my mark on the club.
“I need to knuckle down in pre-season and get game time in and push on, but obviously the main aim is to get Yeovil to League Two and get promotion, that will be massive. It will be a great experience to be playing in front of (the fans) again, it has been a difficult time for the last year so I can’t wait to be back playing in front of fans again.”

Williams was released from Coventry at the end of last season and had dropped a hint that he was coming back to South Somerset with a post on his Instagram last week.

Defender Morgan Williams has become Yeovil Town‘s first signing of the season.

As exclusively revealed (guessed at?) by the Gloverscast last week, the 21-year-old has returned to South Somerset following his release by Championship Coventry City at the end of last season.

His four appearances whilst on loan with the Glovers this season were the only football Williams saw this season, albeit during a bleak period at the end of October and the start of November.

The youngster played in home defeats against Chesterfield and Hartlepool United, who both went on to make the National League play-offs, and the 1-1 draw at Woking.

He was also part of the side which earned an FA Cup win at Bromley thanks to a last-gasp winner from Gabby Rogers.

The season before he made three appearances including an impressive debut in a 2-0 win at home to Halifax Town.

Yeovil Town FC received a loan of £689,538 from Sport England after an agreement on 12 February 2021.

The loan was given to Yeovil Football & Athletic Club Ltd and was created as a legal charge on the club on 17 March 2021.

In Scott Priestnall’s most recent update to supporters 110 days ago, he confirmed the club had been offered a loan which would help them see the season through.

We asked YTFC the following:

Can the club confirm the accuracy of the figure?
What it has been used for?
How long it will take to repay it?
What is the plan to repay it?

In response to our questions, the club gave us this statement: “Similarly to football clubs across the National League, we have taken the SE (Sport England)  loan to replace the lost revenue from this season.”

This information was received after we put in a Freedom of Information request to Sport England last month.

Yeovil Town midfielder Lawson D’ath has confirmed he is set for surgery on a knee injury sustained in the final game of the 2020/21 season.

Speaking to supporters on twitter, the former Reading play maker confirmed he was to go under the knife “next Thursday” (17th of June)

Despite being out of contract at the end of this season, it was noted in the recent player update that D’ath was going to be offered the chance to do his rehab with the team at Huish Park with hope that a contract can be offered once he’s back to full fitness.

D’ath has spent two spells with the Glovers during his career, an initial loan spell in 2012 before returning on a permanent basis in 2019.

It has been a frustrating couple seasons in the green and white for D’ath who only made his comeback from a long term injury in the final games of the season – something which Manager Darren Sarll noted was indicative of the midfielder’s character.

It goes without saying, but everyone at the Gloverscast wishes Lawson well, on his day, a fit and firing D’ath is as good as anyone at this level.

Reuben Reid and Albi Skendi will be at Yeovil Town next season after the club confirming that options in their contract had been triggered.

In an update on players issued on Friday, the club also confirmed that midfielder Emmanuel Sonupe is out of contract with no indication he will be retained, which suggests he has not been.

Lawson D’Ath has been invited to continue his rehabilitation at Huish Park.

Matt Worthington has been offered a new deal but is yet to sign it and it appears youngster Alex John has been let go after his contract expired.

The updated added: “Discussions are underway with individuals from the above out of contract and loan lists.”

This would suggest the possibility of a return for goalkeeper Adam Smith and full-back Michael Kelly, who were released by Forest Green Rovers and Bristol Rovers respectively at the end of last season.

Former Yeovil Town striker Rhys Murphy has taken time to post a few words of thanks following his departure from Huish Park.
Murphy joined Southend United following a few weeks of rumours surrounding his future, his final appearance was a four-minute cameo in the

win over Solihull in April.

Posting on his Instagram account, the front man said;

 

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to absolutely everybody at Yeovil Town Football Club @ytfcofficial

I’m sorry I was not present on the final day of the season to say goodbye to you all due to some personal issues.

I’ve come to love this special club during my time here. It’s been a privilege to be a part of such an amazing group of people working throughout the entire club that helped me enjoy my time so much.

I’d also like to place a special thank you to the Gaffer and Terry along with all of my team mates during my two years and of course the amazing fans who I’ve absolutely loved playing in front of.

I only wish we could of shared more moments together had it not been for covid 19 preventing us. Your constant support from the moment I signed to the messages I’ve received wishing me well moving forward have been deeply appreciated.

I’m gutted we haven’t achieved our goal of promotion during my time here but I hope that success isn’t far away again for the club.

I will always have special memories and a fondness of my time here.

Thank you for having me at your very special club.

The former Arsenal and Chelmsford man played 64 times scoring 33 times for the Glovers, everyone at the Gloverscast wishes him well for next season with Southend… apart from two games obviously.
