It was a return to winning ways for Yeovil, as they defeated Braintree Town to return to the playoff spots in a 3-1 win. Let’s see what else went on around the grounds…

We begin in Hampshire, where FC Halifax Town left the south as victors in a 4-3 thriller against Aldershot Town; former Glover Andrew Oluwabori found himself on the scoresheet for the Shaymen. A first half annihilation was all it took for Barnet to dispose of managerless Ebbsfleet United, another former Glover scoring as Rhys Browne bagged the third in a 4-1 win. Gateshead returned to winning ways in a 4-0 drubbing of Woking, putting further pressure on Woking boss Michael Doyle.

Oldham Athletic came from two behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Wealdstone, Josh Stones bagging a double in the process, while AFC Fylde and Eastleigh had to share the spoils in a 2-2 tie thanks to a 95th minute equaliser from young Danny Ormerod. There was late drama in both of the 1-1 draws today, as a 90th minute goal from Jordan Cullinane-Liburd rescued a point for Tamworth against York City, while a 96th minute equaliser from Alex Whitmore spared Solihull Moors a point away at 10-man Maidenhead United.

There were three 1-0 wins, as Dagenham & RedbridgeForest Green Rovers and Altrincham defeated Rochdale, Boston United and Sutton United respectively, and finally, Southend United and Hartlepool United played out a 0-0 draw.

It was embarrassment for the Glovers, as they were defeated 2-1 by W*ymouth in a night that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Let’s see how the rest of the National League clubs got on in their own opening fixtures of their FA Trophy journeys.

We start with the earliest fixture of the round, where the 1pm kickoff produced the highest scoring match, as Southend United defeated 8th tier Brentwood Town. The underdog hosts actually took the lead, but an Aribim Pepple hat trick helped the Shrimpers ease through with a 5-3 victory. There were two 3-3 crackers, both ending in victory for the home sides; Woking scraped through against 7th tier Havant & Waterlooville, despite the best efforts of former Glover Ryan Seager as he scored a hat trick to take the game to penalties, while Sutton United came from behind against National League basement boys Ebbsfleet United to win on penalties, former Glover Callum Harriott getting a goal on his debut for the visiting losers.

Two home 3-1 wins for National League sides next, as Aldershot Town and York City defeated Wealdstone and Darlington respectively, while two upsets came in 2-2 draws – 7th tier Basford United knocked out FC Halifax Town, and Kidderminster Harriers won away at AFC Fylde. In another FA Trophy derby, it was another NLS side toppling their National League counterpart, as Slough Town defeated Maidenhead United in a 2-1 win, while further north, a NLN side knocked out National League opposition as Radcliffe left Solihull Moors as 2-1 victors. On Tuesday night, a final 2-1 scoreline was played out, this time in favour of the “overdog”, as Eastleigh won at Hanwell Town.

Three playoff sides all took part in 2-0 scorelines, with varying successes, as Oldham Athletic were surprised by Stockton Town, while Rochdale and Barnet knocked out 6th tier opposition in Leamington and Aveley. Two all-NL clashes ended in penalty wins for the visitors, as Forest Green Rovers and Tamworth defeated Braintree Town and Hartlepool United following 1-1 results, while an upset came on Wednesday night as Chertsey Town knocked out Dagenham & Redbridge.

Boston United won a narrow affair against Alvechurch, Altrincham won on penalties against a charging Macclesfield, and there is still one more result to be determined; following the collapse of Farsley Celtic captain Lewis Turner, the decision was made to abandon the fixture between Gateshead and Farsley Celtic, our best wishes go out to Lewis and his family.

It’s a bumper round-up today as there were four National League fixtures on Tuesday night to accompany the rescheduled fixtures following Storm Darragh!

We start with a barnstorming 3-3 draw between Wealdstone and Altrincham, where two in-form forwards in Alex Reid and Regan Linney couldn’t add to their doubles in a pulsating encounter. A Jack Stevens screamer rescued the three points for Solihull Moors against Aldershot Town, meanwhile it was the end of the road for another Ebbsfleet United manager, as Harry Watling was sacked following a 2-0 defeat to AFC Fylde, leaving the Fleet 11 points from safety, rooted firmly to the bottom of the table. The final clash of the week saw a 0-0 draw between FC Halifax Town and Sutton United.

A thunderbolt from Brett McGavin, and a tidy tap in from Finn Cousin-Dawson meant it was a return to victory for Yeovil, as they defeated Woking on their travels in a 2-0 win. Let’s see what else happened across the weekend, in not only the National League, but the FA Cup for National League sides too.

National League action starts with new league leaders York City, as they registered another big home win, defeating 10 man Maidenhead United in a 6-2 thumping, Ollie Pearce grabbing a brace to send the hosts top via goal difference. Life post-Angelo Harrop for Braintree Town started with a competitive 2-2 draw against Gateshead, while there were two 2-0 wins for Southend United and Sutton United against FC Halifax Town and AFC Fylde respectively.

There were two more draws, both goalless, as Hartlepool United held Barnet, and the two basement sides, Ebbsfleet United and Boston United finished even.

Into the FA Cup, and there were some close battles for the National League representatives – we begin with a shock, as Dagenham & Redbridge put on an impressive performance in a 2-1 win over League Two side AFC Wimbledon. It was heartbreak for Oldham Athletic, as two extremely late goals for League One’s Leyton Orient condemned the visitors to a 2nd Round exit, the goals coming in the 99th minute of normal time, and the 121st minute in extra time.

Solihull Moors were once again on the losing side in a replay of last season’s playoff final, as they lost 2-1 at home against League Two’s Bromley. Tamworth became the second, and final side from the National League to qualify for Round Three, as they defeated League One side Burton Albion on penalties to land in the bowl for the draw on Monday night, while in the pre-lunch kickoff on Saturday, Wealdstone lost 2-0 at home to League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers.

It was close yet so far for the Glovers on a chilly Wednesday evening, as they were narrowly defeated in a 2-1 loss at home to Barnet. Let’s take a look at what else went on in the midweek fixtures…

We begin at Dagenham & Redbridge, where despite the best efforts of the 10 men of the visiting Aldershot Town, the hosts clung on to three points with former Glover Dion Pereira scoring in a 3-2 win. There was a heavy thud for Boston United following Saturday’s elation, as they were thoroughly outplayed in a 4-0 drubbing at Oldham Athletic, while defeat at Cressing Road for Braintree Town saw the end of the road for Angelo Harrop, as his side lost another crucial relegation three pointer to Maidenhead United.

In a reverse of fortunes for the now former league leaders, York City were thumped 3-0 away to their bogey side Altrincham, while in the ‘Kevin Phillips derby’, it was a win for his former employers Hartlepool United in a 2-0 scoreline. Former Glover Andrew Oluwabori was on the scoresheet as FC Halifax Town prevented Forest Green Rovers from taking top spot in a 1-1 draw at the New Lawn.

There were three 1-0 wins across the two days, as 10 man Rochdale secured a huge win against Gateshead, Sutton United furthered their playoff push with a win against fellow contenders Solihull Moors, and Eastleigh defeated basement side Ebbsfleet United. In the final match of the midweek, it was a 0-0 stalemate between Woking and Southend United.

Wealdstone and Tamworth didn’t play midweek, as both sides are in FA Cup action this weekend.

It was a day to forget for the Glovers, as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat away to league leaders York City. Let’s see what else went on around the grounds on a chilly and wet Saturday afternoon…

We begin in the Midlands, where Solihull Moors were involved in another goal fest- this time out, they finished on the wrong end of the scoreline, as Hartlepool United came from behind to register a remarkable 3-4 victory. While it was four at York, it was five at Maidenhead, as Gateshead ran riot and kept a clean sheet in the process.

It was a first home victory of the season for Boston United under new manager Graham Coughlan in a 3-1 win against Braintree Town, including a comical error from Braintree ‘keeper Lucas Covolan to compound their woes. Southend United came from behind twice in a 2-2 draw with former league leaders Forest Green Rovers, while a Dan Creaney double handed Tamworth a first league win since mid-October in a 2-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

It was almost exactly the same case for Aldershot Town; a double for James Henry, a first win since mid-October, and a 2-1 win against mid-table opposition, this time in the shape of Altrincham. Former Glover Rhys Browne got himself on the scoresheet for Barnet in a 2-0 win over Woking, while Eastleigh and Wealdstone shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

There were three postponed fixtures due to the weekend’s weather, as the lunchtime derby between Rochdale and Oldham Athletic was called off, as well as a late postponement between AFC Fylde and Ebbsfleet United. FC Halifax Town and Sutton United both stayed home, as it was confirmed they wouldn’t play on Friday night.

It was an end to the unbeaten run for the Glovers, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Huish ark against FC Halifax Town. Let’s see how the rest of the league got on…

We begin in East London, where a classic was staged between hosts Dagenham & Redbridge, and a victorious visiting Barnet. Despite leading 3-1 a few minutes into the second half, the hosts succumbed to a pair of Nicke Kabamba penalties, and a Rhys Browne winner to leave them stranded in mid-table. It was chaos at the Kuflink Stadium as 10-man Ebbsfleet United were hit for six by 10-man Solihull Moors, a 15-minute Connor Wilkinson hat trick leaving the hosts rooted firmly to the foot of the table.

There was another hat trick, this time a perfect one, at Boundary Park as James Norwood’s first half heroics led Oldham Athletic to an easy 4-0 win over Tamworth. Gateshead continued their stop-start form under new boss Carl Magnay, as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Aldershot Town, while in a top of the table clash, it was Forest Green Rovers who triumphed with a 2-0 win over next weekend’s hosts York City.

The upset of the day came at Wealdstone, as they made light work of an out-of-sorts Rochdale side in a 2-0 win, and by the same score, Altrincham continued their good run of form in a home win over Southend United. In a big win at the bottom, Braintree Town secured a 1-0 win over AFC Fylde, who finished the game with 10 men, and there were two further 1-0 wins for home sides, as Woking and Sutton United defeated Boston United and Maidenhead United respectively. In the final clash of the day, it finished goalless between 10-man Hartlepool United and Eastleigh.

Yeovil Town return to Huish Park this weekend, looking to extend their unbeaten run of form to eight games, as they host FC Halifax Town.

Form Guide…

The Shaymen find themselves in a stop-start run of form as of late, with their most recent game, a 4-1 home loss to Middlesbrough Under-21s in the National League Cup on Tuesday night, taking their run of form to LWLWL.

Manager Chris Millington made five changes to his starting XI for the midweek match from the 1-0 home win over Woking last weekend. Former Glovers’ loanee Andrew Oluwabori played the full 90 minutes against in the Tinpot Cup, having come off the bench in their last proper fixture.

Looking purely at league form, it’s not dissimilar, as they have won their last two league games, and three of their last five.

The Glovers are coming into the weekend off the back of their 1-0 win at Southend United last weekend, taking their unbeaten run to seven games, and have won four of their last five in the league.

It’s a big game for both sides regarding their league position, as seventh placed Yeovil could build a five-point gap over eighth placed Halifax.

Key Players…

FC Halifax Town – Adam Senior

The 22 year old right back has been a part of a seriously solid backline, as Halifax have only conceded a goal more than Yeovil (and we know how good our backline can be) – an ever present, playing every single minute of Halifax’s league campaign so far, Senior could make life interesting for the left side of Yeovil’s attack on Saturday.

Yeovil Town – Aaron Jarvis

Yeovil’s top-scorer sat out last weekend, having collected his fifth yellow card against Maidenhead United in the previous match. He will be looking to keep his impressive scoring run going against FC Halifax Town, and Yeovil will need him to do just that in order to break down a steely backline. If selected, Jarvis will be looking to get back to the form which saw him score twice against Maidenhead in his last outing at Huish Park.

Aaron Jarvis

That’s what he said…

Yeovil Town boss Mark Cooper spoke to the media ahead of the clash this weekend. He said: “I think they will come and have a go, they like to play on the front foot with real pace. They have got Andrew Oluwabori who is an absolute flying machine, Billy Waters, who is a a top player for the level, so I think they will come and have a go at us. But we have to concentrate on  what we do, we are playing some really good football at the moment, we are dominate and whilst we do our homework (on the opposition) but we have to concentrate on what we do really well.

FC Halifax Town manager Chris Millington speaking after last weekend’s 1-0 home win over Woking.

Halifax manager Chris Millington spoke after the midweek defeat to Middlesbrough Under-21s, summarising his views on the weekend ahead. He said: “York and Rochdale don’t need any explanation as to why they were tough, but Yeovil will be the same, on a good run of form, good manager, they’ve recruited well, they’ve got resources to be able to strengthen and have quality in the right areas, so it’s going to be a challenge, but one that we’re really looking forward to.”

We’ve met before…

These two have faced off eight times in all competitions, with Yeovil winning four of them, the other four games being split into two draws and two Halifax wins.

The last time these two faced off was in March 2023, where a late Malachi Linton equaliser sent the Glovers back to Somerset with a point in a 1-1 draw. The last four games have been low scoring affairs, with no more than one goal apiece for either side.

Don’t I know you…

The Shaymen have one familiar face, and it’s a face that actually played for the Glovers in the last game between Yeovil and Halifax.

Andrew Oluwabori turned out 25 times for Yeovil during his loan spell from Peterborough United in the 2022-23 season, scoring two times.  He arrived in West Yorkshire last season following his departure from The Posh and made 39 appearances scoring four times. This season he has featured 17 times, scoring twice, and was a late substitute in Halifax’s 1-0 home win over Woking last weekend.

Who’s been naughty then…

Defender Morgan Williams is serving the last of his three-game suspension, and while Aaron Jarvis and Dominic Bernard return from their one-game bans. Midfielder Charlie Cooper now misses out, following his fifth yellow card during the Southend game.

Halifax have no suspensions as they travel to Huish Park. The Shayman have collected the fewest yellow cards of any team in the National League Premier with just 22.

Well, on a fresh November afternoon, it was another win for the mighty Glovers, as they defeated Southend United in a 1-0 result; let’s see how the rest of the division got on today…

We begin in Yorkshire, where the league leaders York City asserted their position with a scintillating 5-3 win over Hartlepool United in one of the early kickoffs, Ollie Pearce grabbing a double in a frantic affair. Heading further down south, and it was a late comeback for Altrincham, as they rescued a point from 3-1 down at 80 minutes against Solihull Moors in a 3-3 thriller.

2nd-placed Forest Green Rovers kept pace with York in a thumping 4-1 win at Maidenhead United, and in a big upset, AFC Fylde handed Gateshead a heavy 3-0 defeat. A 93rd minute winner from Devante Rodney handed Rochdale a huge three points in a 2-1 win at home to Sutton United, and by the same scoreline, Braintree Town toppled Eastleigh on their travels in a huge win for the Essex side.

In the other lunchtime kickoff, relegation contenders Wealdstone won on their travels against 9-man Aldershot Town in a 2-0 win, while the points were shared amongst Tamworth and Ebbsfleet United, and Boston United and Dagenham & Redbridge in 1-1 draws.

An early goal at FC Halifax Town ensured they kept pace with the playoff runners in a 1-0 win over Woking, and in the evening televised kickoff, Barnet and Oldham Athletic cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw.

It’s six unbeaten now for the Glovers, as they triumphed in a 3-1 win over Maidenhead United to lift them into the National League playoffs! Let’s see how the rest of the league got on, in an action packed day…

We begin with the televised DAZN match, where a first half Regan Linney hat trick helped Altrincham on their way to a 5-0 win away to AFC Fylde, the defeat dropping the hosts to within two points of the drop. Two teams also involved at the bottom played out a dramatic 2-2 draw, as Wealdstone sacrificed their lead with goals in the 86th and 91st minutes from Ebbsfleet United. There was more late drama in Yorkshire, as FC Halifax Town squandered their lead thanks to a 91st minute equaliser and 96th minute winner for York City to go top of the league.

Two teams also near the top of the league faced off in North London, as Barnet defeated Rochdale in a 2-1 win to stay in touch with the leading pack, while a Mani Dieseruvwe double gave Hartlepool United a 2-0 win over Aldershot Town. Two goals within the first 20 minutes handed Yeovil’s next opponents Southend United a 2-0 win over Yeovil’s midweek hosts Tamworth to boost themselves towards the top half of the table.

Further late action came at the Silverlake Stadium, as 10-man Eastleigh needed a 95th minute penalty to ensure Boston United‘s wait for a first league win since early September continues. 10-man Forest Green Rovers played out a 1-1 draw with Woking, a late Owen Oseni goal gave Gateshead a 1-0 win over Solihull Moors, an early Mike Fondop goal gave 10-man Oldham Athletic a 1-0 win over 10-men Dagenham & Redbridge, and finally, Will Davies scored against one of his former clubs as Sutton United defeated Braintree Town.

Yeovil stretched their unbeaten run to five on Tuesday night as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Tamworth in the Midlands. Let’s see how the rest of the division got on, across two nights of National League action!

We start with last weekend’s hosts Wealdstone, who came from behind to secure a crucial 3-2 win against Braintree Town, a double from Sam Ashford helping the Stones to within four points of safety. From one end of the table to the other, it was York City also came from behind to secure a massive 3-1 win over former league leaders Barnet, the defeat being the second in two games for the visitors. While Barnet fell off the top of the table, it was Forest Green Rovers who replaced them, as former Glover Tom Knowles helped the Gloucestershire side to a 3-1 win over basement side Ebbsfleet United.

There were two 2-2 draws on Tuesday night, as a 93rd minute Paul McCallum goal ensured Eastleigh left Dagenham & Redbridge with a point, while Saturday’s visitors Maidenhead United conceded a two goal lead to tie with Oldham Athletic. It was a bounce-back for Rochdale as they defeated FC Halifax Town in a 2-1 win, Solihull Moors came from behind thanks to a Jack Stevens double in a 2-1 win over Woking, while Kevin Phillips got his first win as AFC Fylde boss, as they came from behind to defeat Boston United in a 2-1 score line.

Hartlepool United remain unbeaten in the league under caretaker manager Lennie Lawrence, as they were held to a 1-1 draw away at Altrincham, a Luke Hannant goal was the difference in a 1-0 win for Gateshead at Sutton United, and the final match of the wrap up saw Aldershot Town and Southend United play out a 0-0 draw.
