Glovers bolster back line with defensive duo

Yeovil Town have secured two defensive reinforcements ahead of the start of the season.
Jack Robinson, 20, is a left-sided defender who has joined on loan from Middlesbrough until January. Robinson has a minor injury and is unavailable today. He signed a new two-year-deal with the Teesiders in May.
Millwall’s Dan Moss has also signed on loan until November, providing much-needed cover at right back. The Lion’s youngster is available for this afternoon’s match against King’s Lynn Town. Moss, also 20, can play in midfield and at centre back.
Welcome to Yeovil Town lads.

Gabby Rogers signs for Torquay

Ex-Glover Gabby Rogers has signed on the dotted line at Torquay United after impressing on trial.
Rogers scored against Torquay for Tiverton last week, before scoring an impressive goal for Torquay on Saturday.
Speaking about the return to his boyhood club Rogers told the club’s official website: “It’s wonderful, it’s great to be back. Obviously I started out here when I was eleven, and was here four or five years until they had to shut the academy down, so it’s great to be back and I just want to get as many games in as possible, and see what happens from there.”
He joins Gary Johnson at Torquay who told the official website: “We were aware of him at Yeovil, and we were aware of him going to Tiverton to keep fit and get a couple of games, so we decided to watch him, but we had already arranged then that he would come in training after the Tiverton game. He didn’t have to impress, but he did.
“He came into training and impressed everybody. He looked the part, of course we played him in the game, and he showed in the game what he could do in training. We looked back at some of his stuff, and we thought that he was something different, something that we could use and nuture, and bring out his potential. If you can do that, you’ve got a player.
“He also comes from good stock. He was born in Torquay and was at Torquay as a young lad, and his dad played for Plymouth. He’s ready now – he’s gone beyond being a youngster, he’s 20 and needs regular games at a good level.”
Rogers left the Glovers at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Ben spoke to Alex O’Loughlin about the upcoming game with Southampton B, working with Darren Sarll at Yeovil and he’s promised to make sure the Saints loan us a striker..
Sarll disappointed with ‘garbage’ Glovers performance

Yeovil boss Darren Sarll was disappointed with his side’s “garbage” performance at Weston-super-Mare this afternoon.
Tom Knowles salvaged a draw with a vintage strike (don’t fall in love with footballers, kids) but Sarll was unhappy at the defensive aspect of the afternoon.
“We’ve probably given away more chances today than we did in the other three games combined, which is the disappointing thing for me.
“I was just disappointed with our defending intent today. I thought it was poor, we let people through. It was far too easy to play in behind us, far too easy to get set plays. I think we gave away seven corners in the first half from eight balls in behind the fullbacks. I think there’s lots to be done,” said Sarll.
Never one to not look for positives, Sarll did say that playing badly and picking up a draw is a good quality to have.
He said: “One thing I did like, was that we’re going to play badly and take points this year. And that’s a good quality to have. Normally you try and attribute those qualities to teams that win leagues and trophies. So I quite liked it that we kept it to one nil and it doesn’t matter that it’s Weston. They’ve got lots and lots of football league appearances in their team.”
“That’s been our first real tough week and it seems to have beaten a few in terms of the energy levels and physical capacities,” he added.
