Yeovil Town legend Marcus Stewart has left his role as Head of Player Development.

Stewart has been in the role since the summer of 2022, rejoining the club for a second spell having also been an integral part of the 2007 Play Off Final Squad under Russell Slade.

Stewart, departs the club as one of the the most fondly remembered people to ever don the Green and White.

Marcus, with the club’s support, has continued in his role whilst balancing his immense fund raising efforts for Motor Neuron Disease charities following his own diagnosis a number of years ago.

Here at the Gloverscast, we’d like to place on record our sincerest thanks to Marcus, for the goals, the memories and for taking time to join us on one of the most brilliant episodes of the GloversPast.

Yeovil Town Women have announced that First Team Manger, Paul Knight has left the club by mutual consent.

The women played their final game of the season on Sunday and led the side to third place in the South West Regional Womens Football League Division One South, following their promotion campaign in 2023/24.

The Women’s side had a record of 11 wins, six defeats and just one draw in the 18 games this season, with a highlight of the campaign being leading the side a 7-1 win at Huish Park against local rivals W*ymouth.

In a statement, the club said that they were still fully committed to investing in the next chapter of the women’s team and thanked Paul for his work over the past two seasons.

Ref, Referee, Match Official

45 down, one to go.

Yeovil Town head to Aldershot Town on Monday for the final game of the season, and the referee for the occasion is Mr Niall Smith.

Smith has been the man in the middle just 13 times across the National League divisions this season, but has also been regularly holding subs boards up in the EFL too.

He’s dished out 55 yellows and just one red card this season, he’s also been fairly lenient on the spot kicks too, awarding just three – two of which came in the same game.

Yeovil have already had the pleasure of his company once last season, he marshalled the 1-0 away win over Taunton Town in the National League South, a single Frank Nouble goal the difference.

Jordan Young, Jake Wannell and Michael Smith all had their names taken, but he doesn’t even get a mention in our match report – which is usually, a good thing.

Niall Smith has Steven Plane flying down one side (geddit?) with Adam Wilson down the other. Charles Martland is the fourth official.

A short, sharp loan watch this weekend as most of the regional football came to a conclusion last week.

We start with Will Buse who sat on the bench as W*ymouth concluded their season with a 6-1 defeat to Chelmsford, Mal Linton actually gave the hosts the lead, but the game soon turned around.

Buse played 35 games for the Claret and Blues conceding 53 goals and keeping four clean sheets.

He also played eight games for Weston-super-Mare at the start of the campaign.

According to Transfermarkt, his contract at Huish Park is up this summer, we would be stunned if he wasn’t announced as being on the Glovers’ released list.

In total, he has played just eight times for Yeovil, across a loan and permanent spell.

Right, then, to Torquay.

The Gulls finished off the regular National League South season in style, a 4-1 win over Hemel Hempstead, it wasn’t enough to topple Truro for the title though.

A small margin of a two-goal goal difference all that separates the sides after 46 games.

Jordan Thomas started the game, but was replaced shortly after the hour as the Gulls searched for goals.

A second placed finish means a home play-off semi final against either Dorking Wanderers or Boreham Wood who meet in midweek.

All the best for the play-offs Jordan.

So far, this season, Thomas has 26 Torquay appearances – one goal in there – eight games for Salisbury – and another goal in there too – on top of his five games for the Glovers, starting just once, the 3-1 away defeat to Gateshead.

Yeovil Town host Sutton United this Saturday and the match represents a first National League appointment for our referee, Emily Heaslip.

That’s not to say she isn’t experienced, she’s vastly experienced and has refereed at the top level of the Women’s game in the WSL. She reffed the 2025 Women’s League Cup Final and led a trial of having referee’s wearing microphones in the WSL.

She’s taken charge of 11 games in the National League regional divisions, all since the turn of the year. She’s dished out 24 yellow cards and two reds.

As you might have guessed this is the first time she’s officiated either Yeovil or Sutton.

She will joined by Jack Clench and Daniel Flynn with Kevin Morris in charge of marshalling the dug outs.

It’s time for a bumper Easter edition of the Loan Watch, strap in, there’s lots to get through.

Let’s start in the National League South, where Torquay are one of SIX, yes, SIX teams who can still win the league with a single game to go, bonkers.,

Jordan Thomas started both of their Easter weekend games against high flying Truro and low lying W*ymouth, the Gulls won them both.

On the other hand, Will Buse had a less enjoyable time for The Terras.

Firstly, on Friday, our claret and blue friends gave up a 2-0 lead against Salisbury, before getting a pasting from Torquay on Monday. That said, Buse didn’t do much wrong.

Into the regional league now and as the headline suggests, Sherborne and Yeovil have continued their relationship with plenty of minutes for plenty of young Glovers across  plenty of games.

The Zebras played on, Sat 12th, Mon 14th, Weds 16th and Saturday 19th since the last update, a bonkers final week.

All of Joe Crisp, Ollie Hughes, Corey Koerner, Jaydon Biss & Blake Watts got time both from the start and the bench, plenty of moments to highlight, but I’ll pick out Blake Watts getting MOTM in one of the game, here’s a picture of the 17-year old being presented with a bottle of (Non alcoholic – honest, guv’) bubbly.,

After the final game of the season at the weekend, Sherborne Town 1st Team Manager Neil Waddleton told the Gloverscast:

“I truly value my relationship with Matt Percival at YTFC. Together we have created a pathway at Sherborne Town for young lads at YTFC to develop and gain valuable experiences within the game. The lads we have had this year have been fantastic. They have shown great aptitude and attitude. Their development is visible and they have been a great for us at Sherborne Town. We are looking forward to many of them returning to preseason and going again”.
Isn’t that nice!? There’s been a steady stream of young Glovers dipping in and out of the sides at Sherborne, including plenty getting time in their reserves, I’ve tried to cover as many as I can, and apologies if I’ve missed any but it’s been great to see the young YTFC players getting competitive game time.

We keep going, To Wellington, where Jacob Shore played twice over the Easter weekend, including in a 2-0 win on Monday to wrap up their season.
The defender has chipped in with a couple of goals this season.

Over at Bridport, Sol Padmore and George Geraghty were both in their first team squad for a 4-2 win over Axminster on Good Friday to wrap up their league campaign.

Padmore has been involved pretty much the entire season, whilst Geraghty’s goals for the U18s has seen his progression into the first team come as the campaign grew on.

Moss Jackson-Collis, just a 17-year old, was used from the bench as Shaftesbury and Larkhall played out a draw, which was enough to secure them both safety in that division.

And that’s just about it, there have been so many cool moments of young players getting out on deals and playing locally, many of the regional divisions are now finished with the National League South duo still with work to do.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading these updates, they’re not always easy to put together, so I’d like to say thanks to the people that have helped along the way, including Daniel Shore, John Hallett and Sam Bowers who have sent information, and line ups and to those who have allowed us to use images of the lads in action.

On loan winger Otis Khan was sent off for Yeovil Town as they went down to a 1-0 defeat at Eastleigh on Easter Monday.

Having gone a goal down when Chris Maguire put the home side in front after half-an-hour, Khan grappled with the experienced frontman five minutes later and appeared to throw an elbow at him leaving referee Harry Wager with no choice but to brandish the red card.

That left Yeovil with a numerical disadvantage throughout the second half and, despite more than holding their own, they were unable to find an equaliser.

There were chances for Yeovil at the start of the game and Josh Sims forced a good save from Eastleigh keeper Joe McDonnell towards the end, but a failure to take their chances and the red card proved too much in the end.

First half

The first chance came after just 40 seconds when Eastleigh captain Chris Maguire got away from Marcel Lavinier, who was in for the Alex Whittle at left back,

Lo Everton found Kyrell Wilson running in to the box, he got away from his defender and his shot beat Joe McDonnell in the hosts’ goal but it was blocked on the line. Strange referee Harry Wager pulled play back for an offside.

On 12 minutes, Wilson got away down the right and got a great ball in to Otis Khan in the centre of the box and his effort was deflected wide by Luis Fernandez for a corner. Great opportunity to open the scoring.

Otis Khan can’t believe that’s not gone in – and nor can Kyrell Wilson or Harry Kite.

After a strong start, the game settled down with neither side creating anything to trouble the keeper until Jai Semenyo’s effort was turned away by Aidan Stone. After a strong start from the visitors, Eastleigh have reshuffled their back line to commit more players forward and have come back in to it.

But on the half-hour mark Eastleigh took the lead as they took advantage of some sloppy Yeovil defending. Angel Waruih got away down the right side and had time to feed it to Chris MAGUIRE who stepped in to the box and hit a shot across Stone and in to the corner of the next.

There was a worrying moment soon after when Harvey Greenslade tried to get away down the right side and was sent crashing to the ground and was clutching his shoulder. That is the same injury which kept him out for a couple of months at the start of the season, but the striker seemed to shrug it off and played on. Keep an eye on that one….

Eastleigh’s tails are now up and Semenyo pulled one wide on 35 minutes and then Yeovil’s afternoon got worse. Otis Khan elbowed Maguire to the floor and was given the easiest red card the referee will give all season. Maguire, an experienced campaigner, has made the most of it, but utterly brainless from Khan.

Otis Khan heads down the tunnel after 36 minutes.

Three minutes in to first half injury time, Eastleigh tried to work an opening down their left side with Nathan Tshikuna eventually feeding Shade who was one-on-one with Stone on the edge of the six-yard box. The keeper made a fine stop.

From the resulting goal kick, Greenslade was shoved in the back by Fernandez and crashed to the turf again. He’s holding his shoulder again and this time he’s not going to be able to continue. No substitution was made, but I’ll be amazed if we see Harvey Greenslade in this second half. Mark Cooper quite justifiably asking how that is not a booking for Fernandez.

After a bright opening 15 minutes, it has gone from bad to worse for Yeovil and you feel it is going to take quite a shift up through the gears to change it in the second half.

Half time: Eastleigh 1 Yeovil Town 0

Second half

Well, consider me amazed. Harvey Greenslade is back out for the start of the second half. Eastleigh are starting the second half like they finished the first, doubling up on Yeovil in wide positions.

Soon after the restart, the rain began to fall heavily in Hampshire and that triggered a couple of changes from Yeovil. In the 53rd minute my amazement reduced as Ciaran McGuckin came on to replace Greenslade, with Josh Sims replacing Michael Smith. It still looked like a back four with Sims going in at right back, whilst McGuckin joined Wilson as a front two.

Despite having a man disadvantage, Yeovil are not giving up here and are pressing forward with Lavinier in particular causing problems down the right side. But, despite that, Joe McDonnell in the Eastleigh goal as not been forced in to a meaningful save.

The lesser spotted Lewys Twamley replaces Marcel Lavinier

There were a couple of changes for the visitors with Charlie Cooper replacing Harry Kite after 75 minutes and then Lewys Twamley (yes, he exists) replaces Lavinier.

On 85 minutes, Yeovil had a great opportunity when Sims picked the ball up on the left and tried to curl one in to the top corner, it was flicked over the bar by McDonnell. Amazingly the referee adjudged McDonnell had not touched it and gave a goal kick. Another great chance to add to a couple at the start of the match.

As the game ticked in to injury time another good break forward found Sims bursting forward and he tried to curl one again, McGuckin tried in vain to get his head on it but it went harmlessly wide.

Full time: Eastleigh 1 Yeovil Town 0
