England C

Yeovil Town midfielder Matt Worthington has been named in the provisional England C squad which will take on Wales later this month.

The 25-year-old is included in the 25-man squad managed by national team manager Paul Fairclough which is expected to be cut down to a final 16-man squad after next weekend’s National League fixtures.

The fourth International Challenge Match with Wales takes place at Altrincham’s J.Davidson Stadium on Tuesday, March 21 (7.45pm kick-off).

Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £2 for under-18s and available to buy on the Altrincham website – here.

Squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Sam Howes (Wealdstone), Magnus Norman (Oldham Athletic), Harrison Male (Worthing).

Defenders: Tyler Cordner (Aldershot Town), Vince Harper (Eastleigh), Harry Phipps (Dagenham & Redbridge), Kenton Richardson (Gateshead), Dan Gallagher (Dorking Wanderers), Jesse Debrah (FC Halifax Town).

Midfielders: John Lundstram (Altrincham), Darren Oldaker (Chesterfield), James Daly (Woking), Ryan de Havilland (Barnet), Regan Booty (Maidstone United), Matt Worthington (Yeovil Town), Gus Scott-Moriss (Southend United), Olly Dyson (York City).

Strikers: Dennon Lewis (Boreham Wood), Cameron Wilson (Scunthorpe United), Sam Dalby (Wrexham), Emile Acquah (Maidenhead United), Joe Sbarra (Solihull Moors), Macauley Langstaff (Notts County), Aaron Jarvis (Torquay United).

Paul Fairclough has announced his England C squad for the upcoming game against Wales.

As expected it is full of the very best from the National League, but there are no current members of the Yeovil squad that make the cut.

Three former Glovers make the cut, Scott Loach (Cashterfield), Ben Tozer (Wrexham) and Nathan Ralph (Southend) have all been selected for the game on March 30th.

There does appear to be a ‘contingency squad’ with Wealdstone announcing two of their players had been called up, despite not appearing on the list.

If any of the current squad are also named in the back up squad they could be called upon for the game which is scheduled for inbetween the Southend and Barnet fixtures.

The team includes Paul Mullin who was being touted for a full Welsh call up this season and Dagenham’s Matt Robinson who will be in the visitors squad at Yeovil this coming Tuesday.

The full squad is as follows…

The Football Associations of England and Wales have announced a Wales C v England C game for March 30th, played at Caernarfon Town FC

The England C side has been known in previous incarnations as the ‘England Semi Pro XI’ or ‘National Game XI’ but is now mostly made up of full time professionals from the National League system

Yeovil Town have famously been well represented at international level during our previous stint in Non League but due to obvious reasons these games haven’t take place since the 2019/20 season.

England C Manager Paul Fairclough, who has managed Barnet no fewer tha five times, including last year will announce his squad soon, which could, in theory, include some Glovers.

The last squad, back in 2019 included no one over the age of 25 and had such names as former Yeovil players Kabongo Tshimanga and Brandon Goodship in.

They were captained by Laurence ‘Brother Of’ Maguire and were held to a 2-2 by their Welsh league counterparts

Anyone who fancies seeing Charlie Wakefield, Tom Knowles or Jordan Barnett wearing the Three Lions needs to start the “Are you watching Paul Fairclough” chants pretty soon!
