Discipline

The Football Association’s Discipline portal updated in the early hours of Sunday morning to confirm the one-match bans for both Jake Hyde and Matt Worthington. (clearly the official likes to get his paperwork done, promptly)

Both are listed as needing to serve a one match suspension on Saturday 30th of September – the date of the FA Cup tie against Didcot Town.

We’ve included a screen shot, below, but this does slightly go against what was suggested post-match with Mark Cooper telling the BBC that the ban would be “Competition Specific”.

This suggests otherwise.

It’s also worth noting that Cooper has said he intends to appeal the straight red card given to Worthington for Handball on the line. That will obviously happen over the coming few days.

Other points of note – Rhys Murphy is now on four yellow cards – one away from a one match ban, whilst Jordan Thomas of Hampton & Richmond has been given a two-match ban for his red card after the final whistle on Saturday afternoon.

We’ll keep you updated on the success (or failure) of the appeal on Matt Worthington’s red card.

As a reminder, Red Cards are treated slightly differently at this level, here’s a handy explainer.

The Football Association has confirmed midfielder Charlie Cooper will miss next Tuesday’s visit to Weston-super-Mare.

He was sent off in yesterday’s 4-3 defeat at Havant and Waterlooville after two yellow cards; one for dissent and one for simulation in the dying moments of the game.

However, Cooper will be available for Saturday’s National League South match at home to Chelmsford City with FA rules stating: “The period of suspension will commence 7 days after the sending off offence…..

Given two yellow cards cannot be appealed, that is that – oh and there’s a £20 fine as well.

The Football Association has confirmed the three-match ban that faces Glovers’ forward Gime Toure following his red card in the 1-0 defeat at Southend United.

His dissmissal has been listed as “Kicking – Violent Conduct” and comes under Law 12

After the match, Chris Hargreaves said the front man would not only have to suffer missing out for a few games but would also be paying in the way of a fine for his misdemeanour.

As it stands, the red card applies to all first-team fixtures, so he will miss games against Dorking Wanderers on Tuesday night, Solihull Moors at home next weekend and and the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round Fixture slated for the weekend of October 15th.

He’ll be available again for the away game at Oldham Athletic on October 22nd

The UK Government have released details of the total number of banning orders across the top five divisons.

Three Yeovil Town fans received Football Banning Orders (FBOs) during the 2021-22 season taking the total number of active orders to five.

In total, sides in the National League saw 25 new FBOs issued with Wrexham (9), Grimsby (7) and Chesterfield (4) the only sides to see more new FBOs issued than the Glovers.

The Government website reports on the overall picture across the leagues;

Football banning orders
As at 28 July 2022, 1,308 football banning orders were in force. In the 2021 to 2022 football season, 516 new banning orders were issued, which is around 94% of the 2018 to 2019 football season (pre COVID-19) level.

Reported incidents at football matches
Incidents were reported at 1,609 football matches in the 2021 to 2022 football season (53% of matches). The number of matches with reported incidents increased by 60% (+602 matches) compared with 1,007 matches in the 2018 to 2019 season.

The most reported types of incidents were pyrotechnics (729 matches where incidents were reported), throwing missiles (561) and public order or anti-social behaviour incidents involving youth supporters (444).

Yeovil Town’s three new FBO’s in a single season represents the worst single season figure listed on the current table which dates back to the 2014-15 season.

The statutory duration of a football banning order is a minimum period of 3 years and no more than 5 years (unless a custodial sentence is issued).

In total, five Yeovil supporters are currently subject to a FBO, all of these are categorised as being Males between 18-34 years old.

Furthermore, there were 108 ‘football related’ arrests across the entire National League during the 2021/22 season, with ‘Public Disorder’ (29), ‘Pitch Incursion’ (20) and ‘Throwing Missiles’ (13) the most common reason for arrest.

New Banning Orders for Yeovil Town supporters by season since the start of the 2018/19 season.

2018/19 – League Two – 1

2020/21 – National League – 2

2021/22 – National League – 3

Yeovil Town player Jordan Barnett has been charged by the Football Association with regards to betting on football matches.

According to the FA’s April Charges, Barnett is alleged to have place “138 bets” on football matches from December 2018 to 10th January 2022.

The full charge reads as follows:

“INCIDENT OF MISCONDUCT IN RELATION TO BETTING
Jordan Barnett, Player, Yeovil Town FC

Breach of FA Rule E8 – Misconduct in respect of 138 bets placed on football matches between 02 December 2018 to 10 January 2022.

The Participant has until 12 May 2022 to provide a response.”

There is nothing more, and nothing to suggest it involves any matches including Yeovil.

Barnett signed for the Glovers in Summer 2021 from Notts County where he made 12 appearances.

There are strict FA rules with regards to betting on football, which can read here if you feel like it.

A statement from the club reads: “Yeovil Town can confirm that a member of the first team squad is under investigation for an incident of misconduct in relation to betting. Due to an ongoing investigation into the matter, the club cannot comment any further.”

Yeovil Town have been hit by a third misconduct charge in two months after the FA released their disciplinary charges for March.

Further to two ‘failure to control players’ in February, the Glovers have been hit with third charge in relation to the game against Notts County on March 5th.

A game which Yeovil drew 1-1. The incident in question was just after Alex Bradley’s opening goal.

The charge reads…

It looks like another slap on the wrist is incoming…

Update 6th April.

It seems as though there was a little more to this, in the above incident Notts County’s Elisha Sam has been found guilty of violent conduct and has been banned for 3 games…

Yeovil Town have been given two charges of misconduct in the latest Football Association disciplinary lists for February 2022.

It’s worth noting thay Eastleigh have also been handed the same charge from that fixture and have accepted the charge resulting in a fine of £500.

Fast forward to February 25th and the game against Maidenhead, another ‘mass confrontation’ and another charge.
